Re: Wishy*s Wild Western Wallop Trip Report

We're home!!! Safe, sound, and both thankful that today is the 4th of July so we can rest, catch up on everything, and watch the Macy*s fireworks display from the beach here by our house. Everything went smoothly yesterday leaving Las Vegas & getting home. WELL, with the exception that when we went to pick up our luggage DAniel's suitcase came off the carousel with the bottom busted in (looked like a fork lift busted right through the bottom, seriously), the zippers were both ripped off, his things were floating down the carousel seperately, and there was NO way to even close the suitcase once we collected all of his belongings. There's no embarrassment like watching your boxer shorts, dirty socks, and toiletrie bag float down a baggage caousel while 100's of people watch you scramble to collect everything. We waited in the "luggage claim" line for nearly 40 minutes and THANKFULLY when we finally got to an attendant they were really nice. She took one look at it, went to the back to retrieve a new comparable luggage piece, had us move to the side to repack the new one, and let us fill out a complaint. Thankfully nothing of Daniel's seems to be missing and actually the piece of luggage they gave us is beautiful and of WAY better quality than the $40 one Daniel had from Target. So whatever, his was completely busted through but at least they resolved it easily with no fuss. haha, and people wonder why I insist on a small carry-on only.

So, we were in the airport a lot later than we had planned last night but at least we both have off today.

The rest of Vegas was fun. We REALLY REALLY enjoyed Cirque's "O" and the "Jubilee" show at Bally's. We decided Vegas is a place where you REALLY have to know your niche going into it and just stick with that. Neither one of us are partiers, drinkers (well not to get drunk anyway), gamblers, nor really late night people. So, once we figured out that we enjoy Vegas most for some of the nice restuarants & great shows that's probably what we'd stick to most if we ever go there again.

I do have tons more pictures and hopefully I'll get around to re-sizing and uploading them this week so I hope everyone wants to see them. I also have some videos of the Nemo sub ride, the desert, and some of Vegas.

UGh, now for all this dreaded laundry and unpacking. aye.

Aw nuts, the trip is over. That was so much fun, I hate to see it end. Thanks for all the wonderful pictures. I've been showing my DH the pictures from DL in hopes that he'll change his mind about going there. Welcome back, and enjoy you're 4th.

Continental. We always fly Continental b/c of it's huge presence in the Newark airport. [knocks on wood] We've never had a problem ever with luggage & our flights also seem to be consistantly on time w/very rarely a delay or cancellation. So we like them but I will say I was surprised how easily they resolved the luggage issue. We we prepared to be interigated about "overpacking" or questioned about the age or quality of the suitcase. We literally walked up, showed her the damage, and she said "OK, let me go get you a knew one." haha, ok. We thought we were just going to get a voucher for some crappy free meal at the airport or something.

Re: Wishy*s Wild Western Wallop Trip Report

A friend of mine had her luggage destroyed before and they gave her a check at the airport to buy new clothing with because her stuff was missing or dirty/destroyed. I dont remember how much but she was more upset over hte loss of her luggage piece that she was given for graduating high school from a deceased grandparent...

Jess, you inspired me to try fireworks shots last night! I didn't read my camera book, since I don't know where it is. But I played with the buttons and stuff that I haven't done before! With a tripod they would have been better, but I got some decent shots anyway! Thanks for the inspiration!

Thank goodness nothing of Daniel's seem to be missing and the piece of luggage was of no value to us really at all. I know it can be SO frustrating and upsetting. A girl at work had jewelry, a purse, lingerie, and a camera stolen from her bag at some point between checking her luggage and picking it up on the carousel and it was her HONEYMOON!!!
