July 15-20, 2007

Me (Jen), DD3 (Becca), DD7 (Annabel) Grandma and Grandpa

We are Florida residents, so we do weekend trips mostly-BUT, my DD7 asked me can we go to Disney for a week? SO, I booked for a 5 days in July.

It was very hot and very crowded . . . we are used to going when it is cooler and less crowded . . . but then again we were in Disney so we had FUN!

We are frequent visitors to Disney, so we were there 5 days, but only got 3 day park hoppers. (I'm a seasonal passholder, so we couldn't use our passes in July)

Hope you enjoy my first TR! Thanks!

PS. Forgot to mention I did keep a journal while I was there for the first 3 days. The last two, I will have to post as I remember them.

We get to the resort about 1pm, Port Orleans Riverside, but alas, out rooms are not ready early.

We have 5pm dinner reservations for the Hoop Dee Do Review over at Fort Wilderness. We hop back in the car and head on over . . . man it is HOT! We park, and catch a bus, which takes us to the main outpost of the campground. We head over to the stables where all the Parade horses are kept, hoping to get a glimpse of Cinderella’s 8 white horses, rumble, rumble . . . and it wasn’t our stomach . . . the skies blacken and the clouds roll in fast . . . we run for cover and end up . . . where else, but the GIFT SHOP . . . and it starts to POUR . . . sheet rain . . . WOW! We trade pins with cast members, make a few purchases . . . squash a few pennies, man will this rain ever STOP? Finally, $100 poorer it lets up . . . whew, just in time, the kids were getting antsy and I was going to go BROKE!!

AND IT'S ONLY DAY ONE!!!

We still have a half hour to kill before lining up for our ADR for HDDR . . . so we head back to the stables and see the animals (cute, but not much to see, the petting zoo was closed) We go back to Pioneer Hall and they have us all line up to have pictures taken, which they then try to sell to you at your table inside, then out comes the man with the dinner bell . . . Howdy folks, COME AND GET IT!!

We head in. We are on the DDP, so that puts us in B category . . . we score seats way in the back, but they were bar height with bar stools, so it was good view for the kids. They take our drink order . . . would you all care for an ALL YOU CAN DRINK draft beer or sangria? What! All I can drink? COOL!! They place a bucket of chilled salad and yummy warm corn bread on the table. We all dig in!

The lights dim and the show begins . . . what a bunch of “campy” fun. We had a good audience too and there was a lot of ad libbing going on so it was funny as well!!

They bring out the meal . . . Fried Chicken, baked beans, ribs, and mashed potatoes. Oh, and before you even finish your drink there is a new one waiting.

The show hasn’t changed much in the 20 or so years since I first saw it. But it’s good clean fun . . . and the food is enjoyable. It is a two DDP sit down meal . . . not sure it was worth two, but we had fun . . . and certainly walked home signing “Hoop Dee Do, Hoop Dee Do” OH, and dessert was yummy homemade strawberry shortcake . . . deelish!

We decided to head back to the hotel to check into our room and unpack a bit. We intended to go over to the Polynesian to catch the fireworks, but alas it wasn’t to be . . . my 3 year old decided to take a “nap”. So we showered and went to bed early . . .
