WDWfan Silver Wish Experience

I think this info can benefit everyone:

For those who would like to know... we got a Silver Wish Package (2 wishes per night). I saved all the receipts and here is the breakdown:

$67.87 - Teppanyaki (2 wishes)
$65.87 - Wilderness Lodge Lincoln logs Set (2 wishes)
$41.29 - Crystal Palace Breakfast (2 wishes)
$83.77 - Brown Derby (2 wishes)
$24.39 - Garden Grill (1 wish - Wendy was sick)
$34.56 - Kona Cafe (2 wishes)
$45.00 - Mickey Mouse Clock Sculpture (1 wish)
$35.00 - Mickey Mouse Frame/Box Keepsake (1 wish)
$39.99 - Imageworks Picture package (1 wish)
$107.99 - Rainforest Cafe (2 wishes)

Total - $545

Wishes cost $68 (per 2) x 4 nghts = $544

I used a Magic Kingdom card though so that took $75 off the package making the wishes total = $469.

I saved $76.

This inormation will show you many things to consider, for example... Dinner pays off much more than Breakfast, if anyone gets sick it is hard to get your money's worth (we planned to use all wishes for food, but when my wife got sick we could not), and do you really want to eat that much food or nice places normally? So just keep these things in mind. We wanted to be able to slpurge on this trip since it was a small one and we liked knowing the food was already paid for and we could get whatever we wanted. Plus it was a challenge to see if we could beat the odds. You also see that if we did not get our discount we would have nearly broke even. I recommend if you want to do wishes, just use the Bronze (unadvertised) option that allows one wish per day and use it on Dinner meals. Consider the fact that our son often got extras too at no charge... like drinks, cereal, kid's meal at Garden Grill. The CM's never said anything about it, so if you have young kids (mine is 2) you may be able to get some hidden extras in your adult wishes as well.

WDW Fan thank you for posting those details. I've considered using the Silver plan but when I added it all up it seemed like it wouldn't be much of a savings. I'd be afraid we would have to really work at spending that much. We ususally eat b-fast in our room and have one table service meal and one counter service. I guess if we splurged on souvenirs it would add up.
Just curious, how did you spend so much at Rainforest Cafe with 2 people??

Well, a couple of things here...

First the Rainforest is an exceptionally high priced restaurant. :D

Second, since they are a non-Disney owned company who just participates in the Wish Features they tend to let you get more things like Souvenir cups, toys, etc. along with your main wish features.

Third, they upgraded my Steak to a Giant New York Strip (it was huge) just so I could get more food for my wish.

The only confusing part is that you get a real bill at the Rainforest, where all the Disney places give you a bill with $0 on it and how many wishes you have left. Still, you are not charged at the Rainforest, just the receipt looks different.

Magic Kingdom Card?

HI!
What is a Magic Kingdom card?
The silver package sounds like a good idea.
Has anyone booked a package using the Fairytale offer?

Lucy, the Silver plan is available with the Fairy Tale package, but you pay full price for it, it is not discounted (you pay for 7 days of the Silver add-on, instead of getting 3 free).

WDWfan, thanks for the breakdown. I have considered doing this in the past, but only when it is just the 2 adults. I think we will try it once when it is just us, then we could make it work, since we would be there for the food more than for the kids.

Am I showing age already. :laugh

It's was called the Magic Kingdom Gold Card way back in the day.

Then it was changed to the Disney Club Card, and unfortunately it is now defunct as well. My membership expires in June and you can no longer get the cards. It was a great discount card you could use on all kinds of things like the Disney Stores, Disney on Ice, Tickets, Packages, and more.

Possibly with the huge discount on the Fairytale Package the Silver Plan may be a nice addition, but 7 days will be very hard to maintain and fill with options that will cover the wish costs. You can do it though, especially with Tours, Dinner Shows, and possibly Cirque du Soleil tickets.

WDWfan, if your DisneyClub card is still active, you may be able to extend it until December for not much money. I have known several people who extended their's for about $10.

The best info is directly from Disney, and it outlines the restaurants that are and are not included, as well as other options:

Dream Maker package with silver add on

I personally like the all-inclusive plans (Silver and Gold) for the care-free feeling that they provide. Everything is paid for up front. We have used these plans in the past, and have always met or exceded the value (amount paid for the features).

We have a little one, too. And, as WDWFan has stated, it is a great deal..you get lots of extras for free when you have a toddler.

I'll rethink the packages as my boy gets older, and eating a leisurely meal is less of an option. But, for an adults only vacation...they cannot be beat!
