After Gabe fell into the fountain (feet first thankfully) I got him changed for the Magic Kingdom. While DH and I were getting ready Gabe had a blast with the curtain in the bathroom - open, close, open, close...on and on:

We finally left for the MK around 3:45 and I was so excited. We drove over to the MK and we were parked in the very last section of the parking lot right in front of the Speedway. Wow - the lot was full, this did not bode well for the crowds at the MK.

We hopped on the tram and headed to the T&TC where we caught the monorail. Upon entering the park we found that there was a parade on Main Street so it was mobbed. We zipped down the side walk and headed left towards Adventureland. We decided to head to Fantasyland to catch a ride and get a fastpass for after dinner. Fantasyland was a mad house and we could barely move through the crowds. We finally made our way to Winnie the Pooh and got fastpasses. After we got our FPs we headed towards the Winnie the Pooh playground area to let Gabe run around, but then DH mentioned that Gabe gets really hyper after dinner so maybe we should do the playground after dinner. This sounded like a good plan. We still had about 45 minutes before our reservations for dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern so we decided to see Mickey's Philharmagic which only had a 5 minute wait....

This was a BIG MISTAKE!!! We thought Gabe would love it because he loves music and watches Jack's Big Music Show at home and loves it. Nope! Poor baby was terrified and cried the whole time and we were in the middle of our row so we were blocked in. I resorted to bribing him with a lollipop and that helped us get through it.

After we escaped from the theater we headed to LTT for dinner. At this point exhaustion starting set in for Gabe. Oh no! Here he is sitting in the LTT waiting area:

Thankfully we were seated very quickly and our waiter brought drinks and rolls out immediately. The food was delicious and DH said that this was his favorite meal of the trip. Unfortunately this was a really hard meal for Gabe. At this point he was totally exhausted and grouchy which is really unlike him. He cried off and on throughout the meal.

This was the first time that Gabe was going to be exposed to the characters so we weren't sure what was going to happen, but it turned out that he loved them. It was pretty funny actually because he would be crying and then a character would come over and he would stop crying to get so excited.

By the time we finished the main course Gabe was just done. He was really starting to melt down and not even a visit from Goofy could cheer him up. He screamed at poor Goofy and I had to explain that he was just grouchy..LOL.

I decided to take Gabe outside and DH stayed to take care of the check. Unfortunately we missed dessert. When we got outside I got Gabe into his stroller and he immediately relaxed - I pushed him around in circles until DH came out. At this point we decided to forego the rest of the evening in the park and get our little guy back to the hotel and into bed.

A fun side note about dinner was that there was a really cute little girl who looked to be about 2 sitting at the table next to us. She and Gabe spent the whole meal staring at and flirting with each other. It was so cute - me and the other mother got a real kick out of it. It turns out that this will not be the last little girl to catch Gabe's eye on the trip either.

thats Dale ( here is how I remember it because someone told me remember for chip Chocolate Chip ) .... so dark brown .... is chip and red brown nose is dale ...

When we got back to the hotel we put Gabe into his portacrib with the intention of letting him take a nap. He fell asleep immediately and DH stayed in the room to watch TV and I explored POFQ some more.

I just love this resort so much. I just enjoy browsing in the gift shop, going to the food court to refill my mug, walking along the river. It's just such a lovely place.

After a few hours Gabe was awake so we got him into his PJs and let him run around the room for about an hour. I went to the food court again to get Gabe some milk and I got a giant brownie for DH and I to share. We did miss dessert at LTT after all.

After Gabe had his milk and DH and I polished off our yummy brownie we were all exhausted and went to bed.


Day one summary:

At first I was a bit sad and disappointed that things did not go well at the MK and that dinner was a bit of a fiasco. Then I started thinking about all the fun things that did happen that day and how much fun Gabe had just playing at the resort and running around the room and I decided that it was a good day after all.

I laugh when I think about it now too. It was pretty funny - Gabe is such a wild baby that this kind of thing happens all the time and I'm used to it.

Thanks for the tip about Chip and Dale, now I will be able to keep them straight.
