Do you do these trips often? It would be so cool to just hop over to disney for 2 or 3 days with little kids.

Yes we do weekend trips about every other month, and then we'll do like a 5 day trip twice a year!

I KNOW, I KNOW . . . I need to join DVC . . . twice I had reps all over me telling me how I'm throwing my $$$ away!! I really need to go and sit at one of the "seminars" one of these days!!

BACK TO THE TR!

After the drive, excitement of check in and the pool by 9:30ish we were all beat! SINCE the plan was to get up early and hit AK for EMH (7am) I decided we should all go to be early!

Girls took their bath, tucked in they were asleep in NO TIME!! I set a wake up call for 6am I figure I get up that time EVERYDAY, shouldn't be a problem?

Well, here's were the VERY SQUEAKY BEDS COME IN!! Man, the girls were tossing and turning and squeaking . . . I guess I did finally fall asleep, cuz I woke up promptly at 3:30am!!! OH well . . . I "rested" until the wake up call and was up dressed and ready by 7am!!!

The girls . . . well . . . that's a whole other story!!

I got them to FINALLY wake up and we were on the road by 7:30am! A little behind schedule . . . but I kept trying to remind myself . . . we ONLY want to see a few things . . . I'm suppose to be reeeeeeeellllllllllaaaaaaaaxxxxxxxxing!

Doesn't sit well with a TYPE A personality!!

Anyway, we got to the park and we were only 3 rows behind the CM parking . . .this is a GOOD sign, we walk up to the gate and breeze in . . . good low crowds!!

I said to the girls . . . lets head over and catch the Safari . . . we head towards Africa and WHAM!!!! There is a line from the Safari, up and over the bridge!

So much for getting up early! I go to the fast pass and it's already at 9:55 am . . . hmmmmm . . . have to rethink the plans a bit!

We decide to get breakfast . . . there is a yummy little bakery called Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery . . . we grab some bagel, juice and coffee for me . . . when I turn around the line for the Safari is . . . GONE!!!! The line clock says 30 minutes . . . so we hop on!

For those of you how HAVEN'T been on this . . . you have to walk a bit before you get up to the loading area . . . you can push your stroller about half way before they take it from you. So we walked and ate our breakfast, while on line . . . we were on our Safari Truck in NO TIME AT ALL!!

Rafiki's Planet Watch

If you have never been you should go!! First you go on a short train ride up, you pass by all the "homes" for the animals.
Each night different whistles are used to get the animals into these shelters so they are safe from certain elements.
Once you arrive, you walk down a small nature trail and there is lots to see . . .

So how do you tell the difference between a tortoise and a turtle?

Its all in the feet!! This is a tortoise, cuz he's a dry land lover and he has legs and pads on his feet like an elephant.
Turtle's feet are webbed and they like to be in and around water!!

Once you get to the end of the nature walk, you enter into a building!

Inside the main lobby there is a huge painted mural . . . there are OVER 200 hidden Mickeys . . .
we tried to spot a few:

There is so much to see and do when you are here:

There is always someone with a snake the kids can touch! (YUCK!) There are bugs, lizards, frogs, etc all on display. The is also the vets clinic and you can observe . . . this morning is was a SHEEP with nasal problems (DOUBLE YUCK!) But the kids were VERY interested!!

Character meet and greets start at 11am . . . FYI!!

There is also an outside petting zoo for the kids . . . they are given brushes to brush the sheep and goats . . . the kids really had a lot of FUN!!



Photo with a RHINO! (This is where we learned about the poop! WDW has a successful breeding program, because of the diet they feed the animals and that they "test" the poop for different hormone levels to know when the animals are prime for conception!)



Bec, my little animal lover, pets a GOAT!



See the brush Bec is holding? There is no food involved so the animals are super mellow and like to just be pet and brushed!
