BuzzLightyear - Day 1

Disney Trip Report – Day 1 – May 25th, 2003

The usual long travel day. I could write a separate book on toddlers traveling on a plane. We arrived in Orlando about 9:45 am and our Tiffany Towncar driver was there right on schedule. We headed out, stopped at the grocery store and arrived at The Beach Club at about 11:30.

We stayed in the Villas section of the resort. They didn’t have many rooms available and we didn’t feel like waiting till 3 or 4, plus the baby needed a nap so we took what was available.

We received a first floor room, wayyyyyyy down at the end of the Villas section. The room was awesome. It was our first time staying in a one-bedroom “vacation home”. We had a kitchen, living room, master bedroom with king bed, and a huge bathroom with a shower and a separate room with a whirlpool bath. I hope we aren’t to spoiled because this room was so nice and roomy. There are 5 of us and we usually stay in standard rooms.

We were a bit disappointed in being so far from everything and having no view so we opted to move to another location. They were very accommodating and moved us up to the 4th floor, same type room, a bit closer to the action, with a slight view of the Tower of Terror.

We didn’t do too much today. The Beach Club was very busy; it looked to be a long week of waiting in lines. We had a quick lunch at Hurricane Hannah’s, walked over to check out the Boardwalk, the Swan and Dolphin Hotels. Had dinner at Spoodles, very, very good food but expensive. The one thing I did on this trip was book way to many of the more expensive restaurants.

That’s about it for day one. Tomorrow was Memorial Day so we planned on heading out to Epcot and just taking our time, since we expected big crowds.

Side Note – for the entire trip the weather was great, sunny and warm every single day. I think I may have seen a cloud when I was there, but I’m not sure. LOL

I herd about all that rain in the northeast. Came home to a flooded yard and all the stories of rain, rain and more rain and when it wasn't raining it was cloudy.
Can't say that I didn't feel just a little bad for everyone that wasn't in Disney;)

My first thought was that I would surley stay at either one of these resorts. They are in a great location. They both look great and have tons of dining options.
I didn't think they were as "Disney" as the other resorts in the area, but very nice none the less.
Hope this helps:)

Sounds good so far! I had dinner at Cape May that same day you checked in. Wouldn't it have been too funny if I had been wearing my blue ribbons as I passed through the lobby and you had been there???

We are very excited about our upcoming trip :)

We live on the West Coast of Florida :) so we only have a 2 hr drive with toddler (this should be interesting), which will prepare us for our drive to Myrtle Beach with him this summer :) Maybe you and I can collaborate on a book together..."Driving me crazy, the true tales of an 8 hour car ride with a 18 month old..."
LOL

I'll see you at the book signing :)
