Happy to hear Epcot was better for ya. I love the land. I love seeing how everything is made and where they grow their viggies. Can't wait to read more.

Re: Our Very Merry (or not so Merry) Christmas at WDW

wow, rough first day. I also agree, you should have gone to the bar and had Disney pick up the tab. There is no reason you should have had to wait that long.

except for the headache, glad day 2 was better.

Re: Our Very Merry (or not so Merry) Christmas at WDW

Glad to hear the trip is getting better. For future benefit, I have learned a tip from my bro-in-law that works VERY well in this situation and ones like it.

If you HAVE to wait - Wait in front of their face. This works especially well if you have kids and they are whiny or tired.

Seriously, though...go down to the the front desk and tell them you will wait there until someone opens your door. You won't cause problems, but you would rather wait where they can see you.

My bro-in-law does this EVERYWHERE...even at the fast food drive throughs when they tell you to pull up and they will bring the food to you...he just politely says I would rather wait right here until you get my food ready. It pushes them to get you taken care of. I don't go that far, but I would have probaly used the tactic in your situation.

Re: Our Very Merry (or not so Merry) Christmas at WDW

Great tip. Wish we had known sooner. lol

After our power nap, I noticed my lower backache was gone. Still, had my teeny-weeny headache though. We got ready & left for the Magic Kingdom. We were going to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas party. This was a first for us.

We entered & got our wrist bands. We entered Main Street. We found a seat on the curb across from the ice cream shop. I walked across the street & got us an ice cream sunday which we shared. We ate it sitting on the curb. We were waiting for it to begin snowing. Sure enough, around 6 PM it began to snow.

We decided to walk to Frontierland, find a seat & wait for the parade. We found a bench which we shared with an older couple. There was a younger couple seated on the next bench beside us. I walked over & brought us back two cups of hot chocolate & cookies. All of us sat there drinking hot chocolate, eating our cookies & visiting.

While we were waiting for the parade, two couples from Louisiana asked if it would bother us if they sat down in front of us. No, it would not bother us at all. Well, as soon as the parade began these thoughtless dummies stood up. So, in order for me to see & take pictures, I had to stand up on the bench. So, did the other people on the next bench. The elderly couple couldn't stand on the bench so they couldn't see the parade very well at all.

Well, dummy Louisiana man sees me standing up & says something like... 'That's a good idea'. Then, I said, "WELL, I COULDN'T SEE!!" He just turns back around & stands there along with his wife & his or her parents! The young lady on the next bench looks at me & says: 'Guess he can't take a hint!' All of us were very upset at these thoughtlessly, rude people.

In my pictures there are their heads or hands waving in the air. I've tried my best to crop them out. All of us left without speaking to them as soon as the parade was over. I hope they read this & know who they are!!

DH & I dash to POC & the HM. There were no lines. We walk right onto the ride. We go to the front of the castle where we watch the fireworks as the castle changes color. Tinker Bell flew out of the top window in the castle. I got some great pictures of the fireworks.

After the fireworks, we fight the crowd, we are going back to Frontierland. DH wants a turkey leg. We share it. It's getting late so we decide to head back to our resort. We don't want to be caught in that crazy, mad-dash, closing MK crowd. We've been there/done that & don't want to do it again!

It's after midnight before we get to our resort & into bed. I had no trouble sleeping that night. zzzzzzz

Re: Our Very Merry (or not so Merry) Christmas at WDW

sorry to hear about the people standing in front of you. I cant stand crazy rude parade people. im the type that will say something or put my kids in front of them. we really never had a problem because most of the time i steak out out spot on the curb and sit there for 2 hours before a parade.

Sorry that the your trip did not start out the way you expected. We plan and we plan, but there are things beyond our control. It seemed like you rolled with the best of it. Did your headache ever go away? This will be a great story and hopfully funny one day. Check out this website for a similar tale.

Re: Our Very Merry (or not so Merry) Christmas at WDW

Day 3-We were up early. After catching a quick breakfast at the resort, we headed to the Animal Kingdom. We went straight for the Killimanjaro Safari. It was a two week trip. We saw plenty of animals. Had a little excitement, along the way, which cut our two week safari trip short. But, oh well. That gave us enough time to go see It's Tough to be a Bug. This is one of my favorite shows. Of course, we went through the Tree of Life.

I did take pictures & will post some later. I still had my teeny-tiny headache.

We left the AK & headed over to Disney Hollywood Studio's. I love to walk down the Streets of Yesterday & step back in time. We watched a little skit played out on the street. We sat on a bench & watched a musical performance of High School Musical III.

We stopped for a drink & hot buttered popcorn (as the sign said). Only, the hot buttered popcorn was cold! DH told the man he didn't want it cause it was cold. The popcorn man told us that he didn't have anyway to keep it warm. duh! It can be kept warm in the popcorn machine? I remember thinking, if it's not hot then change your sign.

Next, we went to the Muppet Theatre. After we left there, I got hit by an awful wave of exhaustion. It was all I could do to put one foot in front of another. I told DH that I HAD to get back to our room as fast as we could get there. I felt like I had taken a strong sleeping pill & it had just kicked in.

As soon as I got to our room, I went to bed & fell fast asleep. I sleep for a couple of hours but when I woke up my headache was finally gone.

I will post the rest of the day soon.

Re: Our Very Merry (or not so Merry) Christmas at WDW

You were more patient than I would have been with the parade people. I would have told them to sit down, especially when the older people could not see.

I agree, people can be sooo rude during the parade. Nothing makes me madder than someone who comes up 2 minutes before it starts to stand in front of you when you have been there an hour!

Re: Our Very Merry (or not so Merry) Christmas at WDW

Maybe I'm just retentive about this, but I always try to be respectful of folks around and behind of us at the parades. Especially if they were there first and had "staked the spot". But it is very weird how there are so many people who don't have basic respect for others at the parades, they just take an attitude like "I paid my admission $ too" and step right in front of you. I guess some of us just understand the time required for getting a "good" parade spot, while others just don't get it.

Re: Our Very Merry (or not so Merry) Christmas at WDW

When I woke up, I felt 100% better. I was starving. We got ready & headed back to the MK. We went straight to Peco Bill's where we both ate a taco salad. They do have the best taco salads there.

We spent the rest of the day riding attractions, viewing shows, eating ice cream & watching people having fun. Then, we went to Epcot to watch the Laser show. It was really good. I met a very nice college student from Brazil. He spoke a little English. I spoke a little Spanish. lol We were a sight trying to carry on a conversation. Right before the park closed, we made our way out of the park. It was the best time that we had since we arrived.
