neen626 ~ Day 1 (Short trip)

Hi DCers! I am back from my weekend trip!! Here is my Day 1 report! I hope everyone enjoys it!! (This was a short trip, so short report :( )

Friday, June 20th.

My friend and I left with our children around 9am friday morning.
2 moms, 5 kids :nooo: Actually considering there were 3 little ones under the age of 3, all the kids were great on our 1.5 hr ride. We arrived at the Coronado Springs Resort, around 11am.
When we left Tampa/St.Pete area it was gray, and drizzley. When we arrived in WDW it was still gray and drizzley :(
We checked in and had a great CM who gave us lots of great info and was just really really nice. The lobby of the resort was also very nice. We didn't get to explore too much as the little ones were antsy and wanted to stretch their legs.We were in Ranchos 6A, which was very close to the Dig Site pool and the bus stop!!
We were very happy with this!! :) Only thing I would change is we were on the 2nd floor, and since we both had strollers we had to use the elavator. I would request 1st floor next time. We went to our rooms (right next to each other with adjoining doors) and were very impressed with our rooms. They were just adorable, very clean and very well maintained. There is a very big sink area, a coffee machine in the room, a hair dryer, iron and ironing board.
Also our rooms were ready when we got there which was great,
and the cribs and fridges, that we requested were also in our rooms. We got the kids settled, changed some diapers, and decided to go get lunch. Of course as soon as we got downstairs the sky opened and it was a torrential downpour. I took the 3 little ones back to the room, and my friend took her daugther and my son to get lunch from Siesta's (which is right by the pool). They had quite an adventure, on the way back they encountered a snake:dazed and since it was raining the bag ripped:( but our lunch was fantastic!! This is just a little walk up place by the pool but the chicken strips were great, the burgers were also great and the french fries, were the good steak kind. After lunch we put the little ones down for naps, and since it was rainy we also fell asleep. About 2 hours later, I woke up, and the sky was clear!! :D :) :D :) My little one woke up also, but my older one (15 yrs old) was still asleep. I didn't want to bother my friend and her little ones, so I called my DH to find out what his my friend's DH ETA was. They were about 1 hr away. I took my little one for a walk and we ended up in the pool. I really liked this pool alot! The lifeguards really were on top of things, and the pool was really nice :)
There also was a little kiddie pool, which my son just adored :)
So we played in the pool, my friend came down with her little ones, and soon our hubbies were there :) After about 30mins we went back to our rooms, hubbies unpacked the car they came in (with all the stuff) and we got ready for dinner.

We decided to go down to the Boardwalk for dinner and try ESPN Club. We thought maybe we made a mistake as it was pouring again!! and The Boardwalk is all outside We walked in the rain, down to ESPN, were seated in about 15 minutes (party of 9!!) We did have 2 seperate table, but that was OK, only complaint was they were very small table (think cocktail bar tables). I thought ESPN Club was great, yes it was noisy, but we were still able to talk, and we enjoyed all the sports on ALL the TV's. My 15 yr old, was in Heaven!! The food was also very tasty. DH and I had the roast beef sandwhichs, they were fantastic. Chicken strips for my little one (also very good), and nachos for my older son (he said they were "awesome"). Also we felt the prices were very good. Dinner for the 4 of us (2 roast beef sandwiches, 1 nacho appetizer, 1 kids meal chicken strip, 1 beer, 2 sodas cost $35 w/ tip)

After dinner the rain had stopped :D :D so we decided to walk the Boardwalk. This is a really neat place!! I would have loved to see it during the day. Very pretty at night, and very quaint! We stopped by the Boardwalk Bakery (We were surprised at how tiny this place was, only 5-6 people could fit in at a time!!) Everything looked great! We also stopped at the Candy Store, and the Emporium and bought doughnuts and milk for the morning. We walked past Jellyrolls, and it really sounded like everyone was having fun in their! We thought about having my 15 yr old babysit all the kids, but decided that really wasn't fair  There also is a really cool dance hall, looks like one of those old fashioned dance halls, but there was some great music coming out of it
We decided we had an early morning ahead of us, so we needed to get back to CSR and get some sleep. This hotel (Boardwalk) really was neat, they lobby was very beautiful (almost kind of reminded me of the hotel lobby in The Shining :p although I mean that in a good way :p
Anyway...we went back to the CSR, and to our rooms, and went to sleep

That's it for day 1, pretty uneventful ('cept for the snake  ) but a very nice day in a great resort :)

I will post Day 2 shortly...Have to finish some laundry :dazed
I hope you all are enjoying it so far :)
Sorry I wrote so much on such a short day ;)

Welcome back!!!:) Sounds like you had a busy first day already! I was thinking of you while back here at home we have been having flood warnings left and right! Hopefully you didn't get as much rain at WDW as back here in Largo!! I'm glad you got to try ESPN club for dinner...we loved it for lunch! (you are right the tables are tiny!)

Can't wait to hear the rest of the trip!!

Glad you are back, Neen! :D

Aren't you glad the downpour started while you were still indoors? The venture for lunch sounded alot like things that happen to my family...LOL!

Looking forward to the rest ;)

Thank you so much for this resport. I love hearing about CS resort and will be on the look out for snakes:madmad ! Also I have never been to Boardwalk and will make it a point to go there. My DH will love anything with sports. Did you take buses or drive your cars?
