Re: BYUdad & family's New Years trip to the World

As our ADR time approached, we bid farewell to Off Kilter and walked over to Morocco and met Leslie and Ricky. We checked in at Marrakesh and were seated shortly thereafter.

Now this was the first time any of us had eaten here and we were not disappointed. Our server was really cool and spent quite a bit of time explaining Moroccon culture and history to us. Very informative and interesting.

The food was very good. Jake and Shannon shared the Chicken Kabobs, Leslie had the Lemon Chicken, Ricky had the Shish Kabobs (with an order of mussels), Lynnae (who was not very hungry) had the Chicken Bastilla and I had the Mediterranean Seafood Platter. Yummmmmmmm.

But the best was the eye candy we enjoyed as we ate.

Re: BYUdad & family's New Years trip to the World

Following dinner, we strolled back to the EPCOT bus stop, stuffed, tired and happy after a great day. But the day got even better when we got to the room and found this! Now, my birthday was not until Tuesday, but this just set the tone for a great time.

Re: BYUdad & family's New Years trip to the World

Saturday, Jan 3

Today, we had an ADR at the 50's Prime Time Cafe for lunch at 11:30 a.m. So we rolled out of bed around 9:00, hit the OKW gym for 45 minutes or so, came home, showered, got ready and hopped on the first bus to DHS.

We checked in and while waiting took a couple of pictures. Lynnae thought we should pose like the models did back in the 50's in the ads selling TVs. I thought she did a great job

Re: BYUdad & family's New Years trip to the World

We had a very cool waitress who gave us grief for putting our elbows on the table, being tattle-tales and not sitting up straight. We also enjoyed all the old TV clips. No one but me remembered "Spin and Marty."

Of course, the food was really good, too. We all split the onion rings for an appetizer, I had the fish sandwich and Lynnae and I split the cobbler with ice cream for dessert. I don't remember what everyone else had, but all were pleased with their choices.

After lunch, we walked over to Lights, Motors, Action just in time for the 1:00 p.m. show (which started at........ummmmmmm........geeze, I forget ).

After the show, we wandered down the streets of New York and had the kids take our picture.

We kind of thought this might be a slow day, but the following shots will give you an idea of how busy it was at DHS today.

Re: BYUdad & family's New Years trip to the World

We basically walked onto the Great Movie Ride. Had a blast as usual.

After the GMR, we headed over to RNR. They were setting up for the Block Party and it seemed like the crowds were looking for places to sit. We figured we could hop on RNR right away. Wrong. The stand by line wait time was 70 minutes.

Shannon, Jake, Leslie and Ricky decided to go. Lynnae WILL NOT even try this one and since I didn't want her to wait by herself for that long, I opted out and we made for the exit. We had an ADR for 'Ohana this night, and decided to just go back to the resort and rest.

Here's a shot of the DHS Christmas tree as we walked to the bus stop.

Re: BYUdad & family's New Years trip to the World

After a nice nap, the kids returned (it really DID take the full 70 minutes to get on RNR). Shannon also loved this ride. We sat around for a while, watched some football, then got ready for our ressie at 'Ohana.

The ADR was for 8:00 p.m. but we were early birds and checked in at 7:30. We got a light up buzzer thingy and just as we sat down in the lounge area, it went off.

'Ohana is one of our favorites and tonight did not disappoint. Everything was wonderful. Since they have brought back the shrimp, I concentrated on that. I passed on the turkey and pork and just had a couple of pieces of steak. I must have downed at least 30 of those shrimp! Ahhh, heaven . Of course, we all saved room for dessert. We'd been looking forward to the ice cream bananas foster decadence for months!

Here we are at the end of the night......stuffed and contented!

Re: BYUdad & family's New Years trip to the World

Sunday, Jan 4

Today we went back for more fun at EPCOT. After sleeping in late and having an early lunch at Olivia's, we jumped on the bus. Our first stop was, once again, Test Track. We were able to get fastpass tickets for later in the day, then hopped into the standby line. After a great time, I took these shots of the hot new Camaro.

Re: BYUdad & family's New Years trip to the World

We decided to make this a slow, enjoyable, people watching day at EPCOT. After TT, we spent some time in Mouse Gear checking everything out and planning on what to get later.

We walked over to World Showcase and stopped in Mexico while Ricky got a margerita. Here's Lynnae and I just relaxing and enjoying the day.

After escaping the trolls and going "back over the falls," we had to stop at the bakery for our favorite Norwegian delicacies.

Re: BYUdad & family's New Years trip to the World

The fish were really active in the tank tonight, probably because of all the divers in there with them. It was really cool watching them. Although two or three came by to wave and smile, there were no special birthday or anniversary greetings from the divers.

Dinner was scrumptious as always. I had the Lobster soup and Shrimp pasta. Skipped dessert tonight.

After our meal, we decided to use our TT fast passes. On the way over, however, Leslie stopped by to visit with one of her friends. He claimed she was so cute, she made him ink!
