At Epcot we headed to Soarin', but all the FP's were gone for the day, although the place wasn't crowded at all. It was a 30 minute wait, but we decided to come back another day for it. We did Living with the Land, Nemo, Test Track, Imagination and Spaceship Earth. By that time it was about 5 pm and I had to meet up with Iris (and Marti) at 7:30. The kids decided to go to Raglan Road for dinner too, but the only ressie they could get was 6:45 - so I went along with them and had a couple of G&T's while they ate. At about 7:25 I got up to look around for Dopey. I KINDA remembered what she looked like from pics, but I couldn't see anyone resembling her at the front - and NO ONE was wearing Stubbs and Wootens - so I asked the CM at the res. desk and she told me they were in the Bar. (well - duh!)...So I wandered in there - looking like a dope staring at everyone...nope, not her, nope, not her, nope DEFINITELY not her. Then this lady turned around on her bar stool - and I saw a little furball kitty peeking out from behind her. Iris?....IRIS!! Hugs! Then she introduced me to Marti and Mike (note the order). Marti was all spiffed up in her Mickey t-shirt and pin lanyard. I tried to stuff her into my purse, but Frau Iris was having none of that! Mike greeted me with "do you know this drink cost me $22.?" What a good guy and sport he is. Toting Marti all around, putting up with 2 nutty MB women. I introduced Iris to Emily & Jeremy (I think they were polite enough, I hope), then we were seated. Fun and food and drinks ensued. Iris and Mike are such great people and I hope they enjoyed themselves as much as I did. Uh - sure Iris - you don't have a German accent at all... Naturally I had forgotten the camera, so you'll have to go to Dopey's trip report for a pic of the festivities. OMIGOSH - I had the BEST dinner there. I wasn't too hungry, so I got the tenderloin salad. A perfect medium-rare tenderloin sliced, warm, over a great salad with a really good dressing and drizzled with horseradish sauce. MMMM -mmmm. For dessert I had the sticky toffee pudding I hope I didn't look like too much of a pig for eating every bite of it - it was amazing. After dinner we strolled back to the MP - Dopey had some shopping to do, so we said our goodbyes. How great it was to finally meet her. I started walking back to SSR. As those of you who have taken the path know, it's kinda spooky in the evening. So I was strolling along when RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME was the BIGGEST RAT I've ever seen in my life - casually eating a french fry someone had dropped. OK - there is nothing I am more terrified in the world than RATS and this one was HUGE! I looked at it - it looked at me and then it dawned on me - it wasn't a rat!! It was a possum!!! I have NEVER seen a possum in my whole life. So now that I realized it wasn't a rat, but a cute little possum I stopped and watched him eat his french fry and then waddle back into the brush! I was so excited I rushed all the way to the suite to tell E & J. Emily was all for going out to find him again, cause she'd never seen one either, but Jeremy vetoed that! He wasn't going possum hunting at 10 o'clock! So instead we went to bed. Neil was flying in that evening and didn't get there until 2 a.m. - I waited up for him. I was glad to, but I sure was tired the next morning.

You were right the first time, it was a huge rat. Those things are NASTY! I found one in our garage once, and it wouldn't leave! No amount of "shooing" would persuade the rodent to leave.
My neighbor and my dh finally re-located the little varmint.

Everything, it appears, except possum-hunting!

Personally, I do not find possums all that cute. At least it wasn't an armadillo though...I woulda screamed my whole way back to the room!

Armadillo....that would be a different story! In my life, I have never seen one. I went all the way to Austin, TX in October and I still didn't see an armadillo. For Pete's sake!

Re: In Which I Tell of Possums, and Kitties, and Lapu-Lapus....

Blech, I would faint dead away if I saw an opossum that close up. YIKES already.

Ummm, of course we thought it was totally "piggish" of you to eat that entire desert. We thought so many things among them:
Will Llama show up or ditch us?
OMG, what if we don't get along?
Should Mike tell her how shocked he was at the bar prices at Raglan Road? Why yes, yes he should
Did all of us really eat that much food?
Should Marti have a dinner outfit? (We'll leave that up to Voldemort )

There are more questions we won't put them all up here.

You are so cute! You are the first person I ahve ever heard describe a possum as cute, and even in Disney movies when they try to make a possum seem like a charming little woodland creature, you can tell they are really working hard to show it in a positive light. Nasty disgusting animals... did you know they keep their whole pack of brats in a pouch on their stomachs? Gross.

By the way, what was Mike drinking that cost $22, yikes?!

There is a really good explanation for that here, Maureen post #295 which explains how much the prices for the exact same thing fluctuate at WDW.
(I know that Raglan Road is not Disney but I know it's on Disney property)

Yes, Winnipeg is the Slurpee Capital of the World. They presume that it's because we like to keep our brains frozen at all times.

But then again....it is Disney....maybe they are cuter there!
Aw - I thought he/she (I didn't get THAT close) was adorable. Of course Disney would only allow the cutest possums on their property.
