great trip report, I've heard such conflicting things about this resort that we've been afraid to stay. Would you recommend it overall? How is the food court?

The nightstand is in the shape of a barrel as well, and the table is a giant compass.

It was so much fun.
So, are there no longer drawers for clothing in the rooms that have been refurbed to Pirate rooms? The TV used to sit on an entertainment center thing that had doors to hide the TV and drawers underneath for unpacking.

The rooms look great though! Much better than I imagined from the artist drawing I saw before they started on them. I thought they'd end up really cheesy but that's not the case at all!

Oh my, you've all been so patient, I will definately find some time here to continue on today!!

As for the resort, it was wonderful. Unfortunately we ended up in the furthest room of the furthest building from the main building. That is the only complaint that I had, it was a very long walk for three small kids to go to the main building or the main pool. The upside of that, was that we had a very quiet, peaceful area.

It is a beautiful resort with many amenities. The food court was good but probably my least favorite of all the Moderates. The in-resort restaurant, Shutters, was excellent.

We loved having the beach areas. We loved having play equipment on the beach so the kids could play while we relaxed.
The pool was by far my favorite of all the Moderate resorts. The "beach entry" ramp was awesome!!! Our kids, still very young, cannot touch in the shallow end of a pool so we are always in the pool holding them or they play on the step area. The beach entry allowed the kids more freedom to play in the water where they could touch, we all loved that feature!!

There was a great area to rent boats, or sign the kids up for a Pirate Cruise and other water activities. You could also rent surry bikes and the resort is quite large so it would be a great ride.

But of course, the Pirate room really made the resort fantastic, we all loved it.

The cabinet under the TV is actually a dresser!! There are four drawers for all your clothes.
Everything was really thought out and a lot of fun. It is an awesome room, I just can't say enough about it!

Re: Aaaarrggg! A Pirate Trip Report!

Okay...on to Day 3!!

I've only been home a week and already my memory is getting a bit fuzzy!!

We started the day with a breakfast in the room again. Usually DH and DF take everyone's orders and our mugs and head out for the main building. DD4 who is our main "helper" usually enjoyed joining the guys on their walk as well.
So, as I get eveyone else ready and packed for the day, they guys then return with coffee (much needed at that point) and my favorite Disney quick-breakfast.....a cream cheese danish....mmmmm yummy!!

After that we took a walk to Old Port Royale and called for a cab. We often use the van cabs that will seat all of us and don't cost any more than the regualr car cabs. So, the van picked us up and off we went to The Beach Club.

We walked around the resort, enjoyed the sights, took pictures etc. The Stormalong Bay was under renovation and set to open that day but was delayed opening for one more day so we didn't get to see it finished. At 11am we headed over to Beaches and Cream Soda Shop for an early lunch and an ice cream fix!!

This was our first time here and boy was it great!! A lot of character to this place and I must say we all had a great time. I was smart and ordered a small lunch (small hot dog and onion rings, I forget what I ordered to drink...hmmmm, I'll have to check some pics) everyone else ordered a large lunch and a milkshake and didn't leave room for dessert.....silly people!! The kids all had Mickey shaped sundaes and I had a banana split. Oh I wish I had that right now!!

After that we took a bus to the Market. The bus was packed and a wonderful lady from Philidelphia gave up her seat so that I could sit with DD2 and DD4 (who had both fallen asleep) on my lap.

We arrived at the market and we shopped at the Design a Tee, the Once Upon a Toy, Tren D, The sports store (for DH) and of course the World of Disney store and the Lego store. By then we were approaching 4pm and ready for our ressies at Raglan Road.

On our way to dinner we stopped to check out the T-Rex restaurant. The kids thought it was pretty cool until they had one of their on-going shows where it gets dark and all the dinos come to life.....well, I tell you....I have never seen my kids run as fast as they did out the door, terrified of the place. I had to promise them we wouldn't go back in there again! So much for that place....at least for a few more years!! Even DD6 who is actually into dinos didn't like it.

We enjoyed Raglan Road very much. Food was good, staff were excellent but unfortunately we were too early for the entertainment. As a last minute switch this was the only time available for dinner. But we enjoyed it just the same.

After dinner we walked back to the market, checked out the Lego store and then boarded the boat for POR. Prior to our trip I had checked the schedule for the Campfire by D'Bayou and found it ran Thurs/Sundays to the end of March. Being that our trips are usually during April/May, I thought this would be a fun thing to catch. So, we arrived at POR and I asked the CM at the boat rental where we should go and she informed me that the schedule had not been updated and with the new time change earlier in March, they now end the campfires earlier in the year. We were so dissappointed. Now what should we do? The CM was so wonderful. We decided to rent a surry bike that would fit all 7 of us and drive around POR, since we were there anyway, and the CM gave it to us for free. Another Disney Magical Moment. We had a lot of fun, the kids loved it. We all had a great time.

After that we grabbed a cab back to our resort. We put the kids to bed and DD and DM kept a watch on them while DH and I went for a nice walk to the main building for a drink. It was on this walk when we realized that we were so close to Epcot that we could see the fireworks. We noticed through-out our trip that many people would come out of their rooms around 9pm and sit around the lake along the pathway and watch the show. That was a great feature of the resort.

Okay, I'll post some pics later today as I don't have them on this particular computer.
Hope you are enjoying the TR!!

Oh how I adore CBR. I can't tell you how many times I've sat at Banana Cabana and had a drink (virgin daquiri's for several years of course...) and watched fireworks or just enjoyed the sounds from the pool/lake and the caribbean music in the background. I can hear it now....ahhhhhhh..........

Great TR! I'm really enjoying it! The banana splits at B&C are fantastic, aren't they?! Love them. I can't wait to hear more!

Re: Aaaarrggg! A Pirate Trip Report!

Okay, lets get going onto Day 4!!

This was a relax, take it easy day.
We got up and went to the food court for a bit of a sit-down breakfast. The kids were thrilled to have their Mickey Waffles again. After breakfast we headed to the main pool or the "Pirate Pool" as the kids called it.

We got to the pool just as it opened and picked some nice loungers and a table by the beach entry ramp. We grabbed some life jackets for the kids and headed out for some swimming. The pool is great. DD4 and DD2 enjoyed the smaller slide and DH and DS6 loved the larger enclosed slide.

After some fun in the sun, we left DF and DM to catch some rays. DH and the kids and I grabbed some lunch to take back to the room and we all settled for a little afternoon nap.

DF and DH left around 2pm to go golfing at Osprey Ridge and DM and I and the kids hung around the room for a bit and then decided to walk back to the main building for a bite to eat. Along the walk we stopped to play on the equipment at the beach. We saw many Momma ducks with ducklings, we saw a Momma rabbit with her baby and of course many lizards which made DS really happy.

When walking under the bridge from Trinidad South to the Main Building, there are two "Smiley People" statues in the middle of the lane. They are here to stop any motorized or bike traffic along this part of the path. Our girls affectionately named them "Mr.Smiley" and a ritual of our walk was that we would have to greet the Mr.Smileys with hugs as we passed. I never did get a pick of this but I wish I did.

Anyway, on we went for dinner. After dinner we shopped a bit in the store. DS6 started a pin collection on this trip, so this was our first experience with the whole pin trading deal. DD4 started a Mickey charm necklace and started collecting charms on this trip. It was a little easier (and cheaper on our wallet) for her to handle than pins.

By now it was around 7pm so we decided that DM and I would grab a Pina CoLAVA from the Banana Cabana and take the kids walking around the whole path of the resort. It was a lot of fun and very relaxing.

We got back to our room by 8pm and DF and DH had just arrived back from golf.

We had a nice relaxing evening in our room, watched a little TV and fell asleep with excitement and anticipation of our next day.

More pics to be added later tonight.....
