Re: My Rainiest Trip Ever

I saw this guy snacking...

And i saw this pretty flower...

And then we stopped to watch these professional sand sculpture guys work. They were building this sculpture for Disney Nature.

After taking these pictures we went into one of the Innoventions, i am not sure which one. But i know we had never been in there before. We looked around for awhile and then we signed up to do the Kim Possible thing. But we never made it to check in and get our Kimmunicator.

By this point it had started to rain again so we through on our ponchos and continued on our way to Soarin'.

We rode Soarin and decided to stroll through the World Showcase to find something for lunch beside the Electric Umbrella again.

We finally decided on Tangierine Cafe in Morocco. We had never eaten here before. Greg and I both ordered the Sliders platter which included small sandwiches of chicken, lamb and falafel sandwiches and hummus, Tabouleh, and a Tangierine CousCous Salad. It was pretty good but they did not put enough meat on the sandwiches. For dessert it came with baklava and it was so yummy. I never have liked baklava before but i really liked it here.

After lunch we continued our way around world showcase and we stopped in Kringla and we got a Schoolbread and a Cloudberry Horn to share. They were delicious.

And then we continued our way around World Showcase and ended back up at Mexico and decided we had enough of the rain.

We were supposed to have dinner at Biergarten this evening but since Joey was still at the resort and we were tired of the rain we decided to cancel our reservation. So we canceled Biergarten and booked the Turf Club at SSR.

We got on the bus and went to the resort to relax for a couple of hours before heading to the Turf Club.

After drying off a bit we walked up to the Turf Club and were seated pretty quickly.

We started off with an order of Buffalo Wings. They were very big wings and i loved the sauce on them.

For dinner we had as follows:
I had the Mint-crusted Lamp Chops - with honey dijon glaze and Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes.

Greg had the Roasted Free-Range Chicken Breast - served with shiitake mushroom risotto and sweet and sour cherry glaze

Joey had the Grilled New York Strip - topped with blue cheese, portobello mushrooms, and balsamic-port glaze served with Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes, but he did not get the blue cheese or mushrooms on his.

We all enjoyed our entrees quite a bit. If i go there again in the future i will definitely get something besides the lamb. It was good but too much work for me to get around the fat.

For dessert Joey and I got the Chocolate Lava Cake and Greg got the individual Apple Pie. All were very good.

After dinner we headed to the room for the evening.

Today was supposed to originally be a day off from the parks. But since we had the rain and had an early day the day before we decided to go to DHS.

So Greg and I left the room about 9am and arrived shortly there after. Joey was to meet us later.

The first thing we did was we went back to Toy Story Midway Mania and the wait was about 20 minutes so we got fastpasses for later and then got in the standby line. The wait was more like 15 minutes.

Greg beat me of course, he always does. But he enjoyed the ride.

We saved the fastpasses so Joey and I could ride it again later in the day.

After TSMM we headed to watch the Jedi Training Academy. It is so cute watching the kids up there. But the rain started to come down minutes before it was supposed to start and they canceled it.

Joey was just getting to the park so we headed to Muppets and watched that then we grabbed lunch at Pizza Planet. I really didn't want to eat this but there aren't many counter services. So we got it and i drowned my pizza in ranch dressing so it was bearable.

After lunch we went to The Magic of Disney Animation and we got to draw Goofy. The instructor we had was really good. He explained everything really well. I felt he was better than most instructors we have had in there.

After drawing Goofy we headed to Walt Disney: One Man's Dream and then it was time for our TSMM fastpasses. We went over and the ride was down and it had been down for quite some time and they didn't know how much longer it would be. But they said they would honor the fastpasses all day.

Well we had been rained on enough by this point so we headed back to the resort. Scheduled dinner tonight was Whispering Canyon Cafe.

We got back to the resort and Greg decided to do some work related stuff so Joey and I decided to go to the movie to see Angels & Demons. Greg didn't want to see it anyhow.

So we decided to cancel our dinner reservation and to just eat at DTD instead.

So Joey and I went to the movies and we had planned to meet Greg at Wolfgang Puck's Express for dinner at 7PM. Due to the crappy busses from SSR Greg didn't arrive until after 7:30.

But we got into WPE and had a yummy dinner.

After dinner Joey headed back to the resort via the bus and Greg and I hung around for about an hour shopping. We then decided we were already wet so we would just walk back to the room. We got back to the room about 15 minutes before Joey did.

That is about it for day 5.

No pictures this day because of all of the rain.
Pizza and ranch dressing?? Interesting combination I must say.

Yes they were that bad, especially for Downtown Disney.

Re: My Rainiest Trip Ever

Day 7, Thursday May 21st

Today we had nothing scheduled at all. We decided that morning to go to Magic Kingdom. So we got up and got ready and headed off to the bus stop. We waited about 25 minutes for the bus and were on our way.

When we got there it was almost time for the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Parade. So i got a spot near the castle and waited about 15 minutes. So far no rain.

While i watched the parade Joey and Greg went to go ride BTMRR.

I have to say i loved this parade so much. I have a lot of pictures from this parade.

Re: My Rainiest Trip Ever

After the parade we went and got fast passes for Buzz and then got lunch at Cosmic Rays. This place is so crowded. I don't know what i was thinking when i ordered the Chicken and Ribs. Like ribs are ever going to be good at a place like this. The chicken was good as were the mashed potatoes and green beans. But the ribs, not so much.

After lunch we used our fast passes at Buzz and then we went and watched Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It! again because i wanted Greg and Joey to see it.

After the parade, which they liked as well we decided to head to DTD to go see yet another movie. The new Terminator movie. We saw the movie and then headed back to the resort and we got dinner at the Artist Palette. I don't remember what we ate but it was good. We then headed to the room to pack because we were checking out the next morning.

For the most part we stayed dry today. It didn't rain that much until late in the evening.

Re: My Rainiest Trip Ever

I am absolutely loving this tr! Your pictures are the perfect pick me up. I love that Move It Shake It parade too! So much energy. :)

Sorry about the rain, but it seems like you had a really good trip. (Except for the buses,of course.)

I am also so glad to hear that you enjoyed the Wave. The selections sounded really good.

Re: My Rainiest Trip Ever

Day 8, Friday May 22nd

We got up and finished packing and got ready for the day and headed up to the front to check in for our flight and to check our bags.

Then we got breakfast and headed to the Magic Kingdom again.

Now I decided to pack our ponchos because i didnt want to carry wet ponchos onto the plane with us.

We got to Magic Kingdom and headed back to do BTMRR. We rode that and headed to HM. Just as we got to Haunted Mansion the heavens opened up and poured, and poured and poured. So we ran into the closest store. Which happens to be one of the tiniest stores as well. You know the little store that sells Smucker's jams and jellies? Well us and about a million other people tried to cram into this store. We ended up getting a fairly dry spot on the porch outside of the store and we stood there for over an hour waiting for the rain to let up some.

Finally the rain started to let up and we decided to just head back to the resort to wait for the ME bus to the airport. It was only about 12:30 and the ME bus wasn't picking us up until 5:30.

On the way out of the park i needed to do some last minute shopping because i still had about $50 to spend on my Birthday Fun Card. So i stopped in some shops and couldn't find anything i really wanted. Isn't it funny how when you have money you can never find anything to spend it on, but when you don't have money you have plenty to buy?

Well i went into the Art of Disney store and saw that the newest round of Vinylmation was on display, they had just been released the night before. So i chose 5 and checked out. And headed to the bus stop. Joey and Greg were already at the bus stop. Well while we were standing in line for the bus the heavens opened up again and it poured and poured and poured again.

We get to the bus stop at the resort and it is pouring like crazy. So we waited at the bus stop for about 30 minutes, again hoping it would lighten up some for us to get up to the Carriage House. Well 30 minutes go by and it is still raining like crazy so we decided to cross the street and go near the pool to see if there is another way to get up to the Carriage House.

We get across the street and under cover and one of the life guards who is standing there to make sure no one was in the pools told us how to get to the Carriage House by going through the Spa and we could stay dry.

So we do that. We are finally up in the Carriage House and we have about 4 hours until the ME bus will pick us up. So we found some couches to take over and we sat and relaxed. It was the longest 4 hours. And the entire time the rain just kept coming down.

We got on the ME bus and got to the Airport in plenty of time. Especially since our flight was delayed 40 minutes. We decided to have dinner at Outback. We then hung out in the Delta Crown room until it was time to board the plane. We got home at about 12:45 AM.

It was a good trip despite all of the rain. I never thought i would go to Disney World to go to the movies as often as we did. Thank god there were a lot of movies out that we wanted to see.

We have decided not to go to Disney World next year. Instead we are going to go on a cruise again. Not a Disney cruise. I priced them out but it is about double the cost of a cruise on Carnival. And we liked Carnival and are happy to go on their ships.

Thanks for tuning in!
