ssn trip report - day 2

wed 7/2

Woke up early to get ready for morning at MK. DD chose this vacation to sleep in every day!! DH and I were showered, dressed and ready before she woke EVERY day!! Too funny, at home she's up b/w 6:30-7:00. I guess she liked the hotel too! We ate muffins in the room and then hopped on the monorail. I can't rave enough about the convenience of the Poly. Our last 2 trips we stayed at moderate resorts (POR and CB) while we loved both of them - the buses got to you after a while. The long waits when you're tired or have a PS to get to and sometimes having to stand. The monorail was such a joy. Typically it would pull up as soon as you got to the platform and was so nicely airconditioned when you stepped in! Well enough about the monorail - we arrived at MK around 9:05 (opened at 9). There were alot of people on Main St, but not too bad. We headed right to Fantasyland. This morning was so enjoyable. There were little to no lines on any of these rides! We walked right onto Dumbo - no line!!! DD loved this - while in the air she noticed the "horsey ride" - Cinderella's Carousel - and insisted on going on it right after Dumbo. It's hard to explain to a 2 1/2 yr old that we should wait to do that ride and hop on Peter Pan while there's no line - so we did the carousel !! Another favorite of hers!!! After that we went right onto Peter Pan, Pooh and Its' A Small World. While DH and I were so happy that this area of the park was not crowded yet, we didn't take into consideration that DD might be on sensory overload from all the rides, the darkness inside, and all the people. Well she let us know on IASW when she screamed and was afraid of all the dancing dolls!!! Can you believe it - I have a kid who's afraid of IASW!!!:hmmm Well we took this as our cue, she really doesn't like the dark rides, so we went on Dumbo and the Carousel again! Then she saw the teacups! I volunteered DH to go on with her so I could videotape them!! After the ride DH understood why I opted to sit that one out - lets just say he was a little dizzy! It was now nearing our PS for lunch at the Crystal Palace. On our last trip this was DH and I's favorite place. Once again, this trip it made the top of our list again! Since it was so hot out, we were especially looking forward to lunch! There were so many people waiting outside, we checked in and were seated within 5 minutes. DD loved all the Pooh and Friends characters. The interaction was great and they took time at each table. At one point they even did a parade with the kids around the restaurant. Very cute! The food here was great! Chick Strips, Mac & Cheese and Pizza for kids and a great selection for the adults. 2 things that stick out in my mind was a pasta dish with Asiago cream sauce with grilled chicken and portebello mushrooms (had 3 helpings of this  ) and pork tenderloin with some type of chutney. Desserts weren't very good though.

After lunch headed back to hotel for a swim and much needed nap.

After nap got on bus for MGM. Did Muppet Show and Little Mermaid. Who knew the Little Mermaid Show would scare the you-know-what out of DD? DH had to actually leave with her! Guess it just confirmed that she doesn't like dark attractions! DD was hungry now so we went to find her a "requested" hot dog. Finally found them at the Turkey Leg place. Decided DD had enuf for the day headed back to hotel to watch fireworks from beach.
