ssn trip report day 4
7/4 friday
This day was DH's 40th b-day!! I had gotten him a "Today is My Birthday" pin" at MK earlier and made him wear it. He loved all the attention. So many people, especially cast members, wished him a happy bday. Thanks to all on this site who let me know about getting the pin. Today we went to MGM. I figured it would be less crowded then MK. We went 1st thing in the morning. When we arrived I read that the Playhouse Disney show would start in 1/2 hour, so we waited in line. Very good show if you have a preschooler. It was just like on TV. Bear in the Big Blue House, Ollie, Stanley and the Book of Pooh. At one point bubbles fell from the ceiling. The kids went wild. There are no seats everyone just sits on the floor. Got FP to Rock-n-Roller Coaster. Went to Muppet show. Found Woody and Buzz at Al'sToy Barn - very hard to find! It was neat when we did find it because I don't think many people knew it was there and wasn't very crowded. Went on RRC while DH & DD did Honey Shrunk... Playground. DD loved this, didn't want to leave. Time for PS at 50's PT. We really enjoyed this lunch. It was quite busy so at first our server wasn't really "into it". I had fried chicken w/mashed potatoes and DH had meatloaf. Mine was quite good, tried DH's meatloaf and loved it!Had to try the Smores for dessert, so I told server it was DH's bday and he came to the table with cherry cobbler with candle and a bday card signed by him "Cousin Jeff". Smores was great and huge by the way. A couple next to us was on their honeymoon so Cousin Jeff made them stand and feed each other "wedding cake". Very cute - groom was embarrassed! After lunch we headed back to hotel for nap. Had PS at Ohana for dinner. We weren't totally thrilled with the meats. Shrimp was too spicy and pork was dry. Steak was pretty good though. I really enjoyed the salad with some type of sesame dressing and wontons with peanut sauce. I guess what kinda ruined it was it was so busy (was 4th of July after all) we were almost done eating by the time DD's chicken fingers were served. Needless to say she had gotten quite restless and well bratty. Our server seemed new too. Heard people at next table complaining. Then they started the coconut races - DD loved that -then they had hula dancing for the kids, what fun! Then the hula lady led the kids around the room to tables of people celebrating bdays. They stopped at our table with a cupcake for DH and sang bday song. After a somewhat stressful (those with little kids I'm sure can relate) dinner we went to the beach at our hotel and looked for a place to sit. It was a little after 8 and fireworks were starting at 9. Not a chair to be found. DH walked to our room (3rd floor!) and carried our balcony chairs down while I got shovel & pail for DD. We settled in on the beach and DD made some friends playing in sand. Nite was getting considerably better. Fireworks and Electric Water Pagent ran simultaneously. What a show! Best fireworks I have ever seen. Made you want to cry! When fireworks were over we decided to go to MK (was opened til midnite) my logic was if people were in the park all day they would leave after the fireworks. Got to MK around 10:30pm people were piling out of there. We were so happy, figured park must be empty. Wrong! MK must've been so crowded that day. It was still packed! Headed over to Tomorrowland 20 min wait for Buzz - that was pretty good. Fun ride. Did TTA for the 1st time. Really neat to do at nite. Waited for about 30 min for Astro-Orbiter. DD liked this - made me dizzy! Standby time for SM was 60 minutes! Didn't wait for that! At 11:30 pm decided to head out to beat the crowds. Went staight to bed!!!

What fun!! Sometimes the busiest, most exhausting days are worth the hassle. Lots of great memories. :)
I don't know if I could go at a busy time of year. Going in September has spoiled me rotten--60 minutes for SM??? NO WAY! :p

MGM has always been one of my favorite parks! Sounds like you really had a great day there. I can't wait to go back, my little is a huge fan of Playhouse Disney, so are definately going to have to do that one :)
