The Birthday Trip - Day 2
AK is planned for today, but it's only going to be me, DD, Rafikiman & my sister. Everyone else had plans to do other non-WDW things. That's ok. PS for Maya Grille at Coronado Springs at 7:45 would bring us back together for the evening. Before I left for AK I called WDW transportation & asked the best way to get to CS from BCV. She told me that there is a bus directly from BW to CS so if I wen't over there I'd be fine. GREAT!
Had arranged to meet sister at the coffee kiosk outside AK gates since Rafikiman & I always get lattes there anyway. We waited, & waited, & finally I saw her inside the gates! She said she called my cell phone & left a message, but I'm not carrying my cell phone. (I'm on vacation after all!) Had a great day & got a lot in. We rode the safari, Kali river rapids, saw "It's Tough to be a Bug," Tarzan Rocks, Dinosaur, Primeval Whirl, ate at Pizzafari, walked the trails, & did a lot of shopping all by 3:30. Between FPs & good timing it was a very efficient day. It was hot though & we still needed to get settled in our new room so we went back to rest up for dinner. Back at BCV went up to the front desk to get our room number. New person, but even she is now bending over backward. She took care of calling for our luggage out of storage & was just generally extremely nice. Much more Disney-like. Got to our room & got settled & even had a little rest before dinner. I know I requested the view, but I wasn't really impressed. Not bad at night, but during the day you see the backs of attractions & stuff at EPCOT & there's a road that runs right behind the resort. Oh well, not really planning on spending too much time there anyway. We quickly discovered that there was no TV remote, housekeeping had left a bottle of shampoo open laying down on the bath mat on the tub so there was a puddle of shampoo on the floor & on the bathmat, & the door stop (you know, that little rubber thing on the wall that stops the door knob from punching a hole in the wall) was coming off the wall. Individually not big things, but considering what we had to go through to get into the room on top of everything else, we weren't impressed. Time for dinner. We left a little early because we wanted to spend some time in the shops on the boardwalk before going to dinner. We love the boardwalk. So we strolled over there and checked out the shops. I used some of my Disney Visa Reward dollars there. Very easy to use! It was nice knowing I was paying less than a dollar for $40 worth of stuff! Then we went to the bus stop to wait for a bus. One that never came. After about 30 minutes I realized I had left a birthday card for my niece in the last shop we were in. I was also starting to wonder about this bus thing. So I took DD with me & while I went into the shop she went to the desk to ask about the bus. You guessed it...no bus! We needed to take a bus to DTD or a park to get one to CS! Ok, now back to the bus stop & get on the first one that comes. It's going to MK. From there we find a bus to CS. Well, we're going to be late, but only like 5 minutes. WRONG! We've never been to CS before, so when the bus stopped we got off. At a stop that was clear across the resort from the restaurant, although we didn't know it at the time. We've never been to a resort that has more than one bus stop! So we get off the bus & start walking & looking for signs. Nothing! Finally find a CM who tells us it's about a 5 minute walk from where we are & gives us directions. To everyone who has posted saying how spread out CS is, you're right! It seemed like we walked & walked & walked. Finally got to the restaurant about 20 minutes late! Fortunately the rest of our party was there & seated already. Generally the food was good, but not great! Rafikiman had a steak & the catch of the day. He said the catch was great, but the steak was dry. BIL said the same thing about his steak. DD had the filet mignon & she said it was very good. I had the special which was a veal chop & a lobster tail. That was very good. The sauce they had on it made the whole meal. Some kind of a mushroom sauce that was great. We opted out of dessert since the plan was now to go to DTD & do Ghiradelli's. My sister wanted to go check out the pool at CS first, so we walked over there. Nice, but I prefer the ones at WL & BCV & BWI. Then SIL wanted to check out the gift shop at CS. By the time we were done with all that Rafikiman decided he was too tired to hit DTD so we just went back to the room & decided to do DTD another night.

I agree with Amy, I hope it gets better after day 2. The start of your trip is so un-Disney like. I was hoping you would get to keep the 2 bedroom!!;)

Minnie, I can't wait to read the next couple of days just to see if it gets any better. That is such a bummer. Although it is nice that your AK day went so smoothly and you had your Disney Reward $$ for the Boardwalk (Ilove that place!)
