Night of Joy 2003

Hey everyone! Well it's been a week since I've been back from the Night of Joy (I'll refer to it as the NoJ from time to time), and I am still on Cloud Nine. This time I have pics to share with you guys too! lol. For those that dont know what the NoJ is, it is a night when disney closes down the MK and opens it to Christian youth groups and they have christian bands performing all over the park. Let me get started:
Well we meet at my church (Faith Presbyterian) at 9 am Sat. September 6th. There were 19 of us kids and 5 or 6 chaperones (including my mom and dad). We packed up the van and left for Orlando at about 9:30. After the 4 hour drive north ( including a lunch break) we arrived at our hotel the Howard Johnson at about 3. If you read my NoJ trip report last year, you would know that I hate the HoJo's!!:devil I would much rather stay on site like my friends church did (at the all star music:cry: ). But unfortunatly my Youth leader probably has stock in the HoJo's, which is why she books us there every year (despite my out cry for off site liberation :( ). We left for the Magic Kingdom at 4 and arrived at the TTC at about 4:30. On the monorail ride over it started raining, this is a NoJ tradition it seems. But gratefully the rain stopped once we entered the park (I guess Disney turned the rain off ;) ). Seeing the Castle was amazing and breath taking like it always is. The park was packed, but not sold out. We started our trek (sp?) to Adventureland and the Enchanted Tiki Room was our first ride! This ride really got me excited and full of the Disney Magic! The line was non existant, and so was the line for the Pirates of the Caribbean (SP?) which was our next ride. We meet up with the rest of our youth group on the bridge infront of Splash Mountain. They had just given up on the Splash Mountain line (the line was a good 60 minutes through out the whole night) unfortunatly I didnt go on it this year :cry: . We all walked over to Space Mountain where we waited in the 30 min. line and got fast passes to return about an hour later. By time we got off SM it was about 10 minutes before our 7:45 to 8:45 fastpass time slot started, but the CM let us on anyways. After 2 great rounds on SM (The left track is 10X better then the right one!!) we went to eat dinner at Pecos Bills. I had the Hamburger which was humongous and soo delicous! After that 10 dollar meal lol we headed over to the Haunted Mansion, the wait was about 20 minutes and the ride was awesome! I remembered alot of things I learned about the HM on my Keys to the kingdom tour, so I basically spent the whole ride giving the same tour to my 2 friends riding with me, lol. After that we went back over to Tomorrowland for Alien Encounter. This was the funnest part of the day becuase my friend L.E. has never been on it before, and it was so much fun whigging her out in the really short line. The ride was just as scary and amazing as I remembered it, lol. After this it was about 9 o'clock and Buzz Lightyear had a 10 minute line, so we took advantage. I got 30,100 some how my friend Jackie managed to get over 150,000! lol. At about 9:30 the group split up and about 5 of us headed over to Fantasyland where we road Its a small world, the carousel, Winnie the Pooh, Snow White and the Mad tea Party all within an hour and a half. By now it was 11:30 so we decided to spend the last 30 minutes shopping on Main Street. I bought an Albino Mickey plush for 8 dollars at the Emporium to add to my mickey collection I just realized I had lol. At midnight alot of the youth particpated in our tradition of eating Ice cream from the ice cream parlor on the curb on main street. Finally at about 12:30 our magical day was over and we picked our heavy, half dead bodies up and made the dreaded walk down Main street and onto the Ferry back to the TTC. We went to the second floor of the ferry and went to the back so we had a perfect view of the MK as we watched it get smaller and smaller. And that was my trip to the NoJ!!!!! lol. Here is a group shot pic of my entire senior high youth group on the side of the castle (Bridge to Adventureland) the sun was in our eyes so we were all squinting really bad, Im in the red and white stripped polo shirt.

That was a very good report,Joe. BTW,did you listen to any of the bands playing or did you spend the whole night just going on the rides?

Hey Joe that is the same question I was wondering. I would have loved to have the chance to hear some of the awesome Christian musicians that were there. Didn't you hear any of them?

I'm a ride person personally Joe so your TR sounds like mine would... I need to go back & check the thread Joe, but I think one of the tips in my thread about things to do said that you can impress your friends with an amazing score on BL by holding the trigger on the gun down the entire time without aiming at anything in particular....Jackie may know the secret ;) Don't worry about missing Splash Mountain....we'll get plenty of it at the Meet & Greet

The pix were great...thanks for sharing!!!

OK, I definitely had a bad gun then! I held the button down THE ENTIRE TIME and I got 3,000 as my score....yes, THREE THOUSAND! DH Eugene got 100,000, while operating the whole ride with one hand...Nathaniel was sound asleep on his shoulder the whole time!!!!

JOE, Awesome report! I don't know about any Christian groups, so if you told me who you saw, I wouldn't have a clue anyway! I was wondering if you did stop to see any of the acts, though...It seems like you hit a lot of rides that night!

Great trip report btw lol. I dont know how I got such a high score you guys, I guess I am just talented like that. Anyways I seemed to manage to get into both of the pictures he posted (yes i am that one black girl) I feel soooo special right now. Well I am supposed to be doing homework, I am sooo sorry that I cant spend more time posting on DC you guys, but swim team has me swamped.:cry:

Great trip report! I would have been all about the rides as well. Esp with such little wait for everything except Splash Mountain.

Anyways I seemed to manage to get into both of the pictures he posted (yes i am that one black girl) I feel soooo special right now. At first it started very small as most dreams do. A twinkle in an eye, the thrill of something new. But then the dream began to grow and come alive. Touching every one of us, lighting up the sky. We share a magic day, we share enchanted nights It's a neverending story and together we all find It's been a part of me, it's been a part of you.
