My cruise trip report

Day One- We got to the cruise terminal around 12 noon, but didn't board the ship until after 1:30. We were upgraded from an inside to an outside cabin, which was nice. After we got into our room,we unpacked our carry-ons and went up to the Lido Deck to get lunch. I don't know if anyone else would do it,but I brought twelve 24 ounce bottles of Diet Pepsi Caffeine Free soda, because I abhor the taste of Coke products, but no one said anything to me,which was great. Then we went back to our cabin to unpack our pass-through luggage and got our life-jackets and went to our muster station for the mandatory life-boat drill. Then we went back to our cabin to watch the playoff game and to get ready for dinner. The food in the dining room was delicious and the service superb. Then we went to the welcome show, which was a hoot!! All the staff and crew that I came in contact with were great. Okay, end of day one. More to follow!!!:D :D

DAY TWO- Nassau

We pulled into Nassau around 7 am. My mother said that The Disney ship tooted When you wish upon a star when they came in to port. I was asleep,so I'll take her word for it. We had breakfast and then went ashore. A word to people who have never been- Don't go ashore in Nassau alone!! The locals can be very aggressive when they approach you. We didn't do too much in Nassau because we had been so often. All I did was spend a dollar in an internet cafe. We returned to the ship and had lunch and waited for the afternoon trivia game on deck. The way my mother and I play is we each fill out our own card(my mother always copying me!!!)and if we aren't sure of an answer,I'll take one answer and she'll take another. With this method,we won the first game!!!!:D :D :D we then went to our cabin to take a nap and get ready for our first formal night. Everyone looked so elegant all dressed up!! Our dinner was great as usual. The first production show was that night, and it was good. We then went to sleep for the night. DAY 3 TO FOLLOW!!!

Yep, it sure did. Thankfully I caught it on video or no one would believe me. It was a very nice touch to the sailaway party.

Sounds great. I would love to take a cruise, but plan on waiting until my DS is a few years older. I am not sure if you said what cruise line you were on, but would kids be welcomed? I know Disney Cruise Line is big on kids but I am not sure how other lines feel.

The ship I was on is Carnival Cruise Line's The Paradise, the world's only totally,100 percent smoke-free ship. It was about half the price of a Disney cruise ship, mainly because the Disney cruise ships have no casinos and most of the passengers can't drink alcohol,so they make up for it by charging outrageous prices. We paid 445 dollars for an outside cabin for a 7-night cruise(each, not for 2 people!!),which would have been almost as much as the price for the cheapest inside cabin on the 4 day Disney cruise.

That sounds like a great deal money wise. A disney cruise sounds great but expensive. We may try a non-Disney cruise and see how that goes (down the road, of course).

Your cruise sounds like a little slice of Heaven to me. I just read your report to my DH. We liked the part where you layed in your room watching the playoff game. The "nothing to do but relax" is the part that sounds so awesome to me. I look forward to the rest of your report.

Day 3- At Sea

Day 3 was our first day totally at sea. We got up early,(just couldn't help it!!)went to breakfast. Our cabin was right around the corner to the elevator that went right up to the Lido Deck Restaurant, which was great!! The food was great,as usual. After that,I went to play trivia at the pool deck. This time I lost,(by one!!:( :( ),but that's okay, the last 7 day cruise I was on,my mother and I won all 3 contests and people were starting to look funny at us when we won the third time. We then vegged out by the pool until lunch. I went down to our cabin after lunch and took a short nap and then got ready for afternoon tea. That was really nice. We just talked to some really nice ladies and had a great time. That's one nice thing about being on a cruise. You can just strike up a conversation with a complete stranger and when you leave, you feel as if you have made a new friend!!:D Anyway, after that,we went back to our cabin to see what we could get on the TV in the way of games, but I think the satelite had gone down. Oh well!! We went to the past cruisers cocktail party before going to dinner. They had great hors d'oveurs and cocktails;what a contrast from the previous evening's formal cocktail party. Anyway, after dinner(marvelous as usual),I went to bed because i was tired. Have I mentioned that it was one big pigfest?????:D :D :D :D

As to the great deal that we got,we looked on the internet and then went to our travel agent, who was able to match it. The cruise industry today has simply exploded. There are so many ships today that you can get a great deal if you just look. Carnival has 19 ships in it's fleet alone.

I'm sitting enjoying your post and just thinking I can't wait till the DH and I can do a cruise. Our son Ryan hates boats. We were suppose cruise several years (many years) ago and our son Ryan refused to go he was so afraid. The next day he got sick and ended up in the hospital and we had to cancel the cruise. It was the one that goes up around Canada, Nova Scotia. Your cruise sounds much better!!!! Some day my ship will come.

Hey since your so good with trivia have you ever gotten far on Millionaire at MGM. My son Aaron was #1 and then before the the person in the hot seat lost the game was over (maybe this time).
