Just the 2 of Us - Day 1

I know it's been a long time in coming, & since I have to cover almost 2 weeks worth there might not be too many details or I'd take forever. But I'll try to hit the high points on each day. This might even take me several days to get through, but at least I'm finally starting.

Flight was uneventful, which is a good thing. Got to the airport & didn't see a driver with our name. So I hunted down a Tiffany driver who called in & said they had us as coming in at 5pm!!! Wrong...never was! Fortunately there was a driver in the area who had just dropped someone off & he picked us up. Whew!!!

We got to BWV about 3pm. Went to check in & the girl said our room wasn't ready! Oh no! Flashbacks to the August trip & all that involved. We mentioned to her that we had had a nightmare at BCV in August & she immediately volunteered to physically go & check our room. She came back about 5 minutes later & said it WAS ready & to go on up!!! Much better check in than last time.

Had a wonderful room on the 3rd floor with a huge deck overlooking the village green. That meant we got to see the water without all the direct boardwalk noise. PERFECT! We got a little settled & then headed over to MK through EPCOT. Rafikiman had to stop for a fish & chips lunch in UK first, but before we knew it we were in MK!!! That first glimpse of Main Street always sends chills up my spine. We managed to hit Buzz & WEDWay & several shops before heading over to the Contemporary for dinner.

We had never eaten at the California Grill before, but if you haven't done it it's now on our must-do list! We asked for a table by the windows and although we had to wait a little longer we got one. It was so awesome to sit & see all the lights of MK & the lagoon & watch the castle turn colors. So romantic. The food was absolutely fantastic as was our server, & he waited to bring desert until after the fireworks so as not to interupt us watching. They pipe the music from the show in & we just sat at our table & watched. I think it was the highlight of Rafikiman's trip. It was definitely up there for me, too!!! Great start to a great trip!

What a wonderful start to your vacation. My DH and I have a dinner alone planned for our first night in the world at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. I just can't wait I'm so excited - dinner at WDW without the kids. Now that they are getting older I know they will have fun at the kids club and I won't worry about them as much!!!! Can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip.

It is a different experience when it is just "you two" isn't it? I am putting The California Grill on my next trip for sure. Sounds like a place for just us two!

Just the 2 of Us - Day 2

Well, it's Sunday & we have MGM scheduled. So we walk from BWV to MGM. Nice little walk, not very hot this morning, & lots of ducks to keep us company along the way. We get there & notice it's really not very crowded. So, of course, 1st thing is RNR. Walked right on!!!! Even got in the very front seat which IMHO is the best place to ride. Got off, got FastPasses for RnR, & headed over to ToT. Almost walked right on that one as well. Although there really weren't many people there, the line inside got kind of backed up 'cause they were only running half the cars. But great ride none-the-less. Since we hadn't had anything to eat we headed over to Starring Rolls & got lattes & yummy sweet stuff. Then it was time to do RnR again. Glad we had FastPasses by then. Didn't ride in front, but still fun. One nice thing about doing rides this trip is we don't have DD & have to figure out who's riding with who! The rest of the day we shopped, did Great Movie Ride, Backlot Tour, saw B&B, etc. Had to make a mental note, though, to go back to B&B later in the week as 4 for a Dollar wasn't performing on Sunday. Tried not to eat too much during the day as we had a Fantasmic package at Brown Derby for 4pm. So we just kind of snacked on egg rolls & pretzels.

With all the shopping we do, there was this one jacket I wanted. It's a 75-yrs of Mickey jean jacket with Steamboat Willie & modern day Mickey embroidered on the back. I had seen it in August, but it was $85. Just couldn't bring myself to do it. Yesterday we saw some on Main Street, & they're on sale for $43!!!! Now I've got to have one, but they're all XL & XXL. Of course, I needed a small. So that was our target for the trip. At one of the shops at MGM they had THREE smalls! Bingo! But, we knew we were going to DTD the next afternoon & I could get another 10% off at World of Disney since we're annual passholders. They've got THREE, there's bound to be at least one left in a couple of days. More to come....

At 4 we arrived at Brown Derby. Nice place, ok service, good food, but nothing spectacular. Maybe we were spoiled by the night before at California Grill, but I don't think we'll go back. It was nice, though, to have the seating section at Fantasmic. The show was superb, as usual. I don't think I'll ever stop being amazed at it. Afterwards a nice stroll back to BWV & a relaxing night chilling on our balcony. All in all, a very nice day...BTW, between today & yesterday Rafikiman ONLY called DD about 10 times!!!!!;) ;)

Convinced!!!! I am calling for Dinner PSs for our January trip as soon as I logoff... We are heading to Orlando sans children for a couple of days as part of a convention he is going to. We haven't completely decided if we are going to Disney or (gasp!) the other park. Since we've never been to the other park, we'd like to see what its all about without the kids, but I want to do a romantic dinner one of the nights we are there.... okay.... we will probably still plow through our dinner as if the kids were there, but its worth a try.... ;)

Keep it coming Pam!!!

What a great first day. I was hoping your check in would be better than the last time and your room would be better. I have never been to CG but we will have to try it when my DS gets older, it sounds wonderful.

Keep the report coming Pam, I love details.

Day two sounds just a awesome and the first. Anytime you get to walk on RnR is a GOOD time. I have tried both the front and back of the limo and like the back best, but my DD agrees with you and likes the front seat. Glad you spotted your jacket...$43 what a steal. I hope they have a few when I go, but that a long ways to go and I'm not banking on it. I can't wait to read the rest....he called 10 times? LOl I would have too.:laugh

So far your trip sounds fantastic! It's lovely to hear about a vacation that is so stress-free, especially considering how your *last* WDW vacation went...

Here's hoping that the rest went just as well.

Okay--Day 2 sounds just a good if not a little better than day 1. Keep the reports coming and I'll keep my fingers crossed for the size small jacket at DTD.

:heart :) :) :heart
