A Very Merry Disney Day in Chicago

Saturday, November 22, 2004:

Well today DH and I took the kids to the 11:00 Disney stage show. We got there 40 minutes early and were in the very front! (Found out later that Captgoodguy and his DW were just a few rows behind us.) The show was nothing less than SPECTACULAR!:) I have been to this before, a couple of years ago, but this year's theme was "Magical Gatherings" with a Holiday theme and the show had a "magical gathering" of Disney characters! Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale, Donald and Daisy, Rafiki, Belle and the Beast, Cinderella and Prince and Snow White and Prince, and even Figment!
It was UNBELIEVABLE! I had a tear in my eye as my DD (age 3) squealed at the site of her beloved Princesses and waved like crazy at Minnie and Mickey, it was awesome! The performance was a 25 minute musical, that consisted of a few Christmas songs and a song promoting each of the 4 theme parks.

The Princesses danced and sang "So This Is Love" for the MK

Astronaut Mickey and Figment sang "Imagination" for EPCOT

Rafifki and some dancers in animal costumes (Lion King type)
for the AK.

And the FAB 5 with Chip and Dale for MGM. Soooo CUTE!:)

I kept looking at the skyline to confirm that I was indeed still in Chicago.

I took a whole roll of film of the show and I will post the pics a.s.a.p.

After the wonderful show, we headed to the Rainforest Cafe to meet fellow DCers Jacki and Captgoodguy!:) I put a name tag on myself and looked around the gift shop with the kids as we waited. A nice man came up and introduced himself to me, ta-da
it was Captgoodguy and his DW very nice, very friendly. Then I spotted Jacki's kids (I recognized them because they are her avatar) and then I saw Jacki and we laughed and hugged, her kids are so ADORABLE!
We went upstairs and they sat us at 2 tables, so we put our combined 5 kids at one table and the 6 adults sat at the other
it worked out beautifully. We had quite a few laughs and a wonderful lunch......lots of great Disney discussions, it was very relaxed and a lot of fun!:) We definitely missed you DisneyTeacher, GrumpyDad, disneyjenny, JOANN, et all.... we talked about doing an even bigger get-together next summer!
Be there or be square:laugh :laugh just kidding. The kids had such a great time, they really hit it off! They wanted to go to Jacki's house to play or have her kids to ours, it was pretty funny.:p Jacki and Captgoodguy, I was really happy we got together today and Jim and I really enjoyed lunching with the 4 of you.

We will definitely have to do it again! After a super fun Disney lunch we parted ways.
It was off to the Disney Store for my fam

and guess who we bumped into there?

A good time was had by all, Jacki and Capt have digitals and are pic-posting savvy. I'm sure their pics will be up before mine, can't wait to see them!

You all sound like you had a blast and I'm so happy that the day went well. I can't imagine how cool it was to meet fellows Dcers and wish I was able to go. I can't wait to see all the pictures. Thanks for posting about the day. I was wondering how it went.

Sounds like a wonderful day. How exciting it must have been to meet some of your friends! The show must have been truly fantastic. Thanks for sharing it with us! Is this a traveling show that goes to different cities like the Disney Ice Shows?

I am so happy you guys had a great time, it must have been so exciting. I am so sorry I missed it. I have thought about you guys all day, knowing I was missing a great thing. I want to see pictures!!

The stage show sounds wonderful, a touch of Disney comes to Chicago. I am glad you had a beautiful day to enjoy the show.

Today we are celebrating Thanksgiving on my side of the family so I won't have time to post the pics yet, but I will as soon as time allows.

The meet was absolutely great. Both families are very nice and we really enjoyed ourselves. The children all down on their knees saying "PLEASE" (trying to talk their parents into letting their new friends to come to their house) was just the cutest thing!

We also found out that all three families have much more in common than just Disney!

Somehow Amy forgot this little detail, but she gave a Disney gift to the other two families. THANKS AMY!

The Magical Gatherings show was pure Disney magic!

The Disney Store on Michigan is the way a Disney Store should be. Lot's of collectibles, adult clothes, etc. that made this store more than "just another toy store".

Here is my take on Saturdays Chicago DC meet and greet
What a WONDERFUL group!!!!! so nice and easy going, kids got along great (Amy your kids are awesome, so cute and well behaved!!:angel no joke they were great!!!)

anywho, we had a wonderful time at lunch and I told Amy this before but I really mean it, I am glad she made me feel guilty about not going on Saturday!! I really had the best day!

Amy and her husband were GREAT!!!

captgoodguy and his wife were a BLAST!!

as said before the kids were wonderful, got along like they new each other forever!! here, here to our future DCer's :D

after we left Rainforest, we went to the disney store on Michigan Ave. That is the nicest store I have been in since the change of merchandise!! and ran into Amy and her gang once again

in closing I must say I really had a Magical experience that day and as a wise man says "The best of friends are found on disney central" that is so true, you guys were awesome!! and I cannot wait to get together again during the summer!!

I am SOOO glad to hear that everything went well... I never doubted that it would. Ames is a great planner and just a super person. Just makes me wish I could have been there that much more ;)
