Sandi's Trip Report

Thursday, Dec. 4
We decided months ago that rather than camp with the rest of the family we were staying in a resort. We arrived at CSR, did not get anything requested in my fax, nor was I able to get an upgrade. We were in Ranchos 7a, and I was not at all happy with the room or the resort in general all weekend. We were on the phone with housekeeping within 10 minutes of arriving. We had no trash cans, ice bucket liners or glasses. And when I called I was asked “are you sure?” Well of course I was sure! Some one delivered all the missing items in about 30 minutes. Some other room complaints were: there was a water stain about 18 inches from the bottom of the drapes, all the way across. Kinda ugly and it stood out. The shower handle fell apart when we first used it, the screws were loose and I was able to fix it. There were 4 footprints on the carpet, they were white paint and lead from the door until they faded away. I did complain, but wasn’t offered anything but an apology. And the topper was the Florida Democratic Convention was there, along with the delegates, candidates and news crews! Security was very heavy and obvious. The rest of the family was not able to get into the resort to visit us. We also went through security checks every time we used our own car. We were really far from the main building. We didn’t even buy a refillable cup, because the walk was so far. It was easier to spend $2.50 in a vending machine than to take the walk. There were democrats everywhere; I have never seen so many men in suits and women in hose and heels at WDW. We spent a quiet evening.

Friday, Dec 5
The entire family met at Trails End for Breakfast, and then we headed for DTD. I had one goal, I needed personalized ornaments. The Christmas store in DTD had a ready date of Dec. 11! And they couldn’t guarantee Christmas delivery if shipped! We did some more shopping and headed for the Christmas store in MK. They were able to do the personalizing by 5:30 pm same day. I would recommend MK over DTD for personalized ornaments. We saw the parade and headed out. MVMCP was tonight!!
I seemed to notice that there were fewer decorations this year. The rest of the family agreed. There was not as much Christmas decoration all around the world. But it was still beautiful, and worth the trip. The party was awesome as usual!! I was absolutely thrilled with the new fireworks show!!! There are no words to describe it. It was the best!! It is a must see event!! It was a great day and night.

Saturday, Dec 6
We park hopped, not really doing anything except checking out the holiday decorations. We left the world to visit celebration, and shop there. I was able to add 3 more houses to my village and at a 15% discount! I love my DH. We had a great dinner at Ohana. The server was great, the food was terrific. After dinner we resort hopped. There was a bell choir at GF so we hung out there for a while. We missed the roasted chestnuts they usually have. We headed to the campground to check out the holiday decorations there. Some of the campers had very elaborate displays. It was a great evening. Another disappointing day with housekeeping, no washcloths or shampoo! And I left an envelope every AM with $$ in it. I was kinda ticked off. DH was beyond mad and marched over to the cast member room on our floor and got the missing stuff.

Sunday, Dec 7
Still a mess of democrats and news crews around. We decided to check out early and head home. Leaving was the worst part of the weekend.

Disappointments: CSR – the room was not up to standards (mine at least). Everyone seemed fixated on the VIPS. Less than great housekeeping. I will be writing WDW.

Joys and thrills: MVMCP & holiday spirit. Came home to find discounts announced for Jan & Feb. Made ressie for Jan.

Just a wild guess....but you must be a Republican. :D :D :D

Sorry you had such a horrible time with your resort. It's amazing how the little things can add up to ruin a good trip.

Hope you have a great time next trip.

Sandi -

Sorry to hear about your less than perfect stay at CSR. I would definately put that in writing and send it off to WDW. Some of the things that were not right with housekeeping were that of a third rate hotel, not a WDW resort. It sounds as though the rest of your stay was great and I am so glad you were able to enjoy your trip even though your resort wasn't up to par.

hmmm... I would write WDW... I am sure that they will call you and make restitution! It may take some time, but they will follow through...

I'm glad that the rest of your trip sounds terrific!

Not really, I would have had the same opinion if the Republicans were there. I was on vacation:D, and there were delegates, candidates, newscrews and security everywhere!! they seemed really out of place. Do you know how much longer the wait at the bus stop seems when there is a politician talking to you:D :D

Sandi,

We had a room similar to where you were and hated it. I agree with you the walk to the main building was just not worth it.
It left a sour spot for that resort that my DH will never ever stay there again. :(
