Disney trip to forget
Well, we returned from our trip late last night....we left sunday for the Beach Club....very pretty resort....worth the extra money? Nope....I have stayed at deluxe and moderate resprts, and this particular one is just not worth the extra....at least not off swimming season....
anyways, Tuesday, the night we had MVMCP, my 8 year old became ill....fever, cough, the whole nine yards....did not move from the room wednesday....so my 4 year old and myself spent the day by the pool...thursday, my 4 year old became ill....as well as myself and mother. Friday, we took a trip to the walk in clinic.... all had upper resp. infections, and my girls both had ear infections.... We were able to salvage some of saturday and sunday, but it was a very difficult trip....it made me so sad to see my girls so sick in disney....and the hotel, while I suppose they are busy, swiped a personal towel that had my daughter's name embroidered on it...and while I got it back, it was not with out more stress....when they were suppsed to send a fridge for the medications, they forgot, and we had to ask agaiin the next day... To top it off, we returned home 2 hours late to 20 inches of snow in the northeast....could not get into our driveway, and had to carry our kids accross the lawn at two in the morning....not a pretty sight....They are still both sick.... Sorry to complain to you guys, but I just needed to vent to someone! Michelle

Talk about bad luck and bad timing. Nothing worse than those darn ear infections. It really is too bad, when you've made all those plans and had such great expectations of having a super time. Guess you'll just have to plan your next one!
Hope you're all feeling better soon.

I am so sorry your trip was ruined by illness. I can't imagine all the excitement, planning, and money then only to have the whole family sick. I hope your girls are feeling better. It sounds like it is time to plan another WDW trip.

So sorry to hear about all the illnesses during your trip. It's such a let down to have your kids sick anytime but especially when their on a special vacation at disney. My son got sick right before our illumination birthday cruise (it was for his birthday and I was totally stressing over one night) I can't imagine dealing with a whole week. I'm sending hugs and pixie dust to you and your family. Hope everyone is feeling better real soon. Paula

while Disney cant make up for your children being sick, I think you should complain about the problem with getting the fridge and the towel. I suggest this because we too had a problem with getting a fridge and it was requested long before we arrived, the day before we arrived and at check in .. for my husband's injections. I suggest you do it by snail mail though because they didnt really give ilvminnie a very good response when she emailed guest services. I mailed my complaint to the CBR manager. it took a while but I finally touched base with a very sweet castmember who as an after thought also sent us $50.00 disney dollars.

Sorry to hear about that. I guess not all trips can be that magical, and illnesses can really put a damper on things.
I didn't ramble too much here about my May 2003 trip for similar reasons. Though we went mostly just to rest and visit the family, my dad got sick with a cold, so the one day I did trudge through EPCOT with him was a bit of a struggle. He couldn't get around as fast as I would have liked, and was just not enjoying himself like he could have. While I enjoyed the quality time we spent together, I would also say it was unmemorable, since I could do little more than swim in the pool at the ASMu. But there's always a future trip to make up for it. Look at me, 6 months later, I was on the cruise. :)

Michele -
I am so sorry about your not so good trip. You vent here any time you want. Poor babies to be sick in WDW....not right. There should be laws in place for that kind of thing. Sorry trying to get you to giggle. I'm also sorry to hear about the Beach Club. The latest reviews have not been that good for this resort and I think I may steer clear of this one. It's a shame because I know it's a favorite for a couple of the people on here. You better get those children all better for the holidays and then after, you must start planning again. Again, I'm sorry your trip didn't go as planned. Would you like me to send a postcard to your kids from Mickey when I go in January? I'd love to. I'll put any message you'd like. Let me know and PM me with the info if you want me to.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes....I agre about there being laws against children being sick in Disney...it's just so cruel....they did get to enjoy sunday and monday, but tuesday through saturday were a wash out...they are still sick....I am keeping my 8 year old home from school again. She is still really tired from being sick, and coughing everywhere...no need to pass it to kids at school...it's a nasty one....
On the note of the Beach Club, as I said, while it was nice, I was not overly impressed...I did forget to say that they LOVED my poem I faxed, and have us a free upgrade. I even had the room assigner call me and leave a message first day thanking me for the poem...they were going to keep it and loved it! So, my excitement was brought up by this, and deflated very quickly Tuesday...watching all the money go flying out the window.... For a deluxe resort, I was expecting more. The food at Beaches and Cream was very limited...burger, turkey sand, hot dog, roast beef, and a wrap....got sick of that real quick.... And getting refills on the 11.00 mugs was IMPOSSIBLE! The take out line for B & V was always long for sundaes...and of course Hurricane Hannah's (which did have chicken nuggets but is only open some of the day poolside) and Riptides, only open 6am to 11 am....All in all, comparing it to Coronado springs, I did not see a big difference. My 8 year old was able to find a bunch of Hidden Mickey's in the room, though...since we spent so much time there :-) Even the pretty beach paintings in the room had them....they were tough to find, but there was one in the lady's hat (for those who may be staying there soon).... Maybe Wilderness Lodge will be next....we did visit there...it looks really nice. My husband IS NOT in a rush to go again....he does not bounce back well from bad experiences. Michelle

I don't know if this will make you feel any better, but. .
We once went for christmas, my 8yo(then) DS ate a chicken salad sandwich on the plane. So the first day we were there, food poisoning for him. He did not miss much in the parks because it was raining and cold that day. The next day it was coolish, and he was still weak, so my DH rented him a wheelchair to move around in. The following day my DH came down with pnemonia from being out in the cold and rain the first day. We were never really together as a family that trip--someone was always in the room sick! ![]() |

Michelle,
Glad to hear at least you got an upgrade. I agree with you about B&C and the mugs. We didn't get the mugs because we did concierge. I was glad we did concierge because some nights the lines at B&C were incrediable. We ate there once it was okay nothing I feel I need to repeat anytime soon. I'm trying to talk DH into a 40th birthday weekend for him and I Jan 1-4 my GF said she keep my DS's. He just doesn't love disney that much to spend all that money on a room and flight. We share so many loves and interests unfortunatly disney is not one of them. Hope your little one are feeling better real soon. Paula
