Deb's Thanksgiving Adventure
I'm sorry for posting this trip report a month late, but this is the first moment I've had to BREATHE. I'm attaching a link to an online photo album of Disney trip pictures. I hope it works!
WDW Thanksgiving 2003 Overall, we had a great trip (as usual!) We stayed at ASMusic and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. I requested all five rooms (my whole family went) to be blocked together and for the rooms to be nonsmoking and close to transportation (my dad cannot walk far distances). We were booked in the Calypso, first floor, rooms 2420-2425 (if I remember correctly!). We were right next to the pool and LOVED it! I called CSR a week before our check-in dates and requested all the rooms to be blocked together AND THEN I wrote a request letter to ASMusic resort and faxed this four days before we checked-in. My family was so impressed with my ability to request and actually get such great rooms; I smiled from ear-to-ear and told them it's all because DC told me how to do it! Without further ado, here is a run-down of what we did: Wednesday We checked into our room at 8:00 a.m. (it wasn't ready yet) and went to the food court to eat some breakfast. After we ate, we tried to call my in-laws to see where they were (we were to meet at AK at 12 noon) and let them know that we arrived a little earlier than we thought we would. Well, freakishly enough, as we were calling them on the house phone, we saw them loading onto the bus to go to the park so we joined them. We played at AK all day -- watched every show there and rode just about every ride...we were done by 5:00. The park wasn't crowded and we got to do everything that we wanted. We ate a delightful lunch at Tusker House. We had dinner ressies at Ohana that night, so I ordered a salad thinking ... that'll be light...need to save room from Ohana's...boy was I ever surprised at the HUGE portions of delicious food... we will return there to eat. Oh, leaving the Tarzan show I snapped a pic of the in-progess Mt. Everest. I'm so excited about this ride! That evening, we ate at Ohana's. My family LOVED IT! Thanks for the glowing reports on Ohana's, for I would not have gone there without the high recommendations. We had a lovely meal, and the kids absolutely loved the coconut races and hula-hoop contests. We ate at 7:00 and had time to run over to the MK to watch the fireworks after our meal! Thursday - Thanksgiving First thing in the a.m., we went to MGM, rode ToT and RRC before you could say Supercalifragi...well, you know what I mean. We caught the Belle show, Ariel's show, the Muppet 3-D show, took the Disney Animator's tour, and watched a 20 min. show on Haunted Mansion. We ate at 50s Prime Time for Thanksgiving lunch. That dining experience was okay, but we probably won't go back. It was our second time going there and the previous time was much better. Also, PrimeTime is a "been once been a thousand times" sorta restaurant. We left for the MK around 2 p.m. and it was PACKED! We loved every second of our time there, though. We rode Pirates, Jungle Cruise (the tour guides make this ride!), Country Bear Jam, and took the RR to Toon Town and rode/did all the stuff there. Oh, surprisingly enough, Thunder Mtn Railroad was up-and-running although the information in the maps/show times said it would be closed. We watched the Goofy's Jamboree show and LOVED it. The kids loved dancing with the characters. The parade started and we watched some of that, but we've seen it and didn't want to miss prime ride time. We watched the Philharmagic (cue line was a 50-minute wait but we met some very nice people in line and the time flew by) and thoroughly enjoyed it. I will say, however, that we were NOT impressed with the "cattle stomp" that ensued once the doors opened to the venue. There definitely needs to be a crowd-control adjustment. The rain came, so we rode Haunted Mansion and Small World, which had a wait -- something I'm definitely not used to. I took the kids on Dumbo and Mad Hatters (DH hates these rides so I brave them). The rain cleared up so Tink could begin the fireworks show and it was FANTASTIC! We hadn't seen the new one. Very nice! We left the park (with every other person with small children). We got back to the hotel and took a swim. The water was nice and warm. AHHHHH. We turned in at around 11:45 p.m. Friday We ate breakfast w/ the Storybook princesses in Norway (the potatoes were to die for!), then we b-lined for MS. We FP that and DH and my bro got very sick from that ride. They were incapacitated, so we went back to the hotel for them to rest and recoop and I took the kids swimming. We swam, ordered pizza from the food court, and watched the Nebraska football game. By 4:30 we were all ready to for the MK for more rides! We rode all the stuff that we missed the night before -- Buzz, SM, etc. We did do the CofP and that was our first time--very neat. That song stayed in my head for hours! We went to DTD and ate an ice cream at Ghiradelli's *yummy* and shopped a bit at the Disney Store. We called it a night around 12 a.m.; we had an early wake-up. Saturday Oh, the sadness...I have PDD...we left ASMusic resort at 7:00 a.m. and were sitting in our living room at 1:30 p.m.--we made great time and the traffic wasn't too bad in Valdosta (it usually is nightmarish). As we pulled out of the white AS Resort gates and bid farewell to WDW, DH looked at me and asked, "When are we coming back?" I glumly replied, "Not soon enough." Thanks for reading!

aw, shucks
In the words of Goofy, "Aw, shucks." Thanks for your kind responses. I love this board/
Goofygal: We've been to WDW during Thanksgiving a few times and the crowds are, well, crowded, but we love WDW at that time of year so we brave the crowds. The weather is great and everyone is happy (holidays at WDW...what more could one want?!)! :)

Hey Deb I really enjoyed your pictures. It doesn't look like the constructions site of Mt. Everest has progressed much since my visit the first of Oct. I loved the pictures of the girls with the characters. You have a beautiful family. I am sorry your DH and brother got sick on MS. It seems many have that problem. I am surprised I didn't as I often get motion sickness. I also know what you mean about that Vladosta traffic! Thanks for sharing the trip.
