Our First Family Vacation, Day 1

Day 1
We arrived at the Polynesian Friday afternoon. It was my kids first plane ride and they were so excited they were going to WDW. We booked this 10 months prior to the trip so we were all very excited.

We pulled up to the Polynesian and I am not kidding you, It actually felt like Hawaii. The whole ambiance of the place is incredible. The smell is beautiful of all the Flowers and the Hawaiian music they play is really nice. We went to the concierge building "Hawaii" and got our room keys. Right off the bat, we all liked this place, everything about it, and the people who worked there were so nice.

I had a basket delivered from WDW florist for our kids upon arrival. It was in our room when we got there, It was a pail, shovel, beach ball, cookies, treats, 2 sailor hats, 2 bottles of water, 2 autograph books and 2 fat pens. It was addressed to my kids and signed "Have a magical vacation" Signed "All your Disney Pals"....My kids thought this was so cool, that Mickey and his friends actually sent this to them :)

We freshened up and went to Magic Kingdom. I'll never forget turning the corner and seeing their faces light up when they saw the castle. My 2 year old daughter spotted Mickey signing autographs for a bunch of kids and darted for him screaming MICKEY!! She ran right up to him and gave him a huge hug and kiss. I had to pull her away because there was a long line and she just cut in front of about 50 kids. It was a moment my hubby and I will never forget. I have a grin on my face right now, thinking about it. This moment alone would have made our trip if nothing else.

We had a PS for 'Ohana at 6:20, we decided to go back to our room and change to go out to eat. We went to 'Ohana about 20 minutes early and had a drink before dinner. My hubby had some drink in a pineapple and I had a Mai Tai. I don't usually drink and discovered these Mai Tai's are so good:love:
We were seated for dinner. They had a hula hoop contest for the kids that was very cute. I was very impressed with our meal here. It's served family style and they cook all the food on long skewers. It was delicious. I love the appetizers they brought you on the lazy susan before dinner. This was one of the best meals at DW.

After dinner we were all so tired (we got up at 3:45 a.m.) and went back to the room. I noticed when we got back to our room, on the table was a bottle of sparkling wine, a plate of chocolates with Congratulations on it, a white chocolate Minnie and Mickey, a Beautiful Rose in a vase and a certificate saying "Happy Anniversary" It was really nice and unexpected.

We were all exhausted so we went to bed, a busy day ahead for tomorrow, starting at 8:05 a.m. for breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table.

Our First Family Vacation, Day 2

Day 2
Well, we received a Mickey wake up call (love those) at 7:00 a.m. and had a PS for Cinderella's Royal Table at 8:05. I have to tell you all, I am NOT a morning person but actually woke up Happy every day while at DW. Even my son commented on how nice I was so early in the morning:hmmm. I got up and ready and then got the kids up and ready. As Hubby is getting ready, I ran to Concierge lounge for some coffee, I can't seem to function in the morning without it:dazed

We were in the first round of people to be seated at CRT. They gave us a certificate congratulating us on our 6 year anniversary and when all the Princesses came around to sign the kids autograph books, they also signed the back of our certificate. We saw Cinderella, Belle, Alice, Mary Poppins and Princess Aurora. We ate breakfast which was pretty good. As we were leaving, we saw Princess Jasmine downstairs and kids got her autograph too.

Now we exit CRT and are right in the Magic Kingdom. We took the kids on some rides. First was Cinderella's carousel and then Dumbo, as we were exiting from this ride, Hubby went to get the stroller and I was right behind him. Then Dan (hubby) turned around and said "Debbie....Where's Nicholas" (our son) I turned and he was gone! Oh my God, I start to panic and start to literally scream...NICHOLAS! In my head I kept reminding myself that in 30 years at DW, no kid has ever been lost and not found. Well, about 1 minute later that seemed like forever, Dan spotted him and he was with an Adult. I ran up to him crying and he was crying but he was fine. Nicholas had walked up to a Man and told him he couldn't find his Parents. The Man spotted Me screaming for my son and asked him if we were his parents. That whole situation almost gave me a Heart Attack! We never lost him again after that! Next Dan and Nicholas went on the Indy cars (they both liked these) and then Buzz Light Year (which they said is very cool) and then we went on a few other kiddy rides with Marissa my 2 year old. She cried all through "It's a Small World" For some reason, it scared her. I kinda felt bad for the people on the same boat as us who had to listen to her the whole time, but they were all really nice about it. They could see I was doing everything possible to make her feel better.

We went back to the Resort and stopped at the Concierge lounge and grabbed some bottles of waters and cookies, in the afternoons they also had a bucket of gummy worms and a bucket of M&M's, some kind of fruit trail mix Dan liked, a huge barrel filled with soda and bottled water including sparkling water (my favorite), some lemonade, Iced tea and guava orange juice, and all kinds of fresh fruit. While Marissa took a nap and I stayed with her in the room, Dan and Nicholas went to the pool (with their soda, water and cookies, Concierge encourages you to take it with you if you don't want to stay in the lounge) Poly has a beautiful pool. My Son will tell you it was one of the best parts of our trip. After Dan and Nicholas got back from the pool, we started getting ready for dinner. We had a PS for Boma at 7:30 so decided to check out Animal kingdom before going to Animal Kingdom Lodge for Dinner. I heard about Dinoland and took Nicholas in there, it was a nice play area for kids. We saw the Tree of Life and got to see the end of a parade. We went late in the day so not too many Animals were out. Next we caught a bus to the Animal Kingdom Lodge for dinner. Boma was the other place that was excellent. We liked the food. It was buffet style and they had a kids table too. I just have to mention that if any of you are eating here, you have to try a Zebra Dome!
After dinner the waiter who was really nice and from the Chicago area too gave us an Anniversary card signed by some staff and wrote Happy Anniversary in Chocolate on a cutting board with some fancy chocolates and cookies on there.
When Concierge booked our PS's they mentioned we were celebrating our anniversary.

We are all wiped out and caught a bus back to our resort. A busy day at Epcot tomorrow including Nicholas going on Test Track!

Wow, your trip sounds wonderful so far. Except for when your son got separated. I remember when I was young I got separated from a school group and was extremely scared. But a nice family helped me and took me to city hall to wait for my group. The people at WDW are always very helpful and definetely show their Disney Magic! I can't wait to hear your day 3 report! :)

I'm still with ya too & it sounds like things are going great! Glad to hear that your catastrophe didn't turn into a lengthy one! As a mom, I know how that 1 minute feels! So glad to hear that turned out well. Anxious for day 3! :D

Our First Family Vacation, Day 3

Day 3
Woke up about 7:30 and went to Concierge Lounge and brought back to the room some coffee and bagels, also got some Milk, cereal and apple juice for the kids. They also had English muffins, a bunch of different kinds of individual boxes of cereal, chocolate milk, sweet rolls, a variety of tea packets, soda, water fresh fruit, oatmeal and different juices.

Went to Epcot, parked the stroller and saw "Honey I shrunk the audience" Didn't let Marissa wear the 3 D glasses. This was very good but did scare my 5 year old. Personally, I thought it was excellent and Dan liked it as well. Next we got 2 fastpasses for test track (for Dan and Nicholas) It was about 11:50 a.m. and the Fastpass for Test Track said to come back between 6:10 and 7:10 (and this isn't even peak season) so if you're interested in going on this ride, go early and get a fast pass!

We had a PS for Teppanyaki in Japan at 12:00. This is a great place. Kids split a kids meal and Dan and I split an appetizer and an entree, also ordered 2 Iced teas. Food was great here. Japanese is one of our favorites. We also enjoy the cook cooking our food right at our table. It's fun. After Lunch, we walked around all the countries and stopped in Mexico so Dan could get a Margarita. He said it was good and the outside cantina de san angel was just packed. This is a very popular place. San Angel Inn is actually one of my favorites but we didn't go there this time, too many other places we wanted to try but will go back next time for sure.

While Dan and Nicholas walked around just checking out Epcot, Marissa and I did a little shopping and bought quite a few things. I love those little Mickey ice cube trays. Bought some other things too and this is where your room card key/park pass comes in so handy. Just use to it pay. One card to get into the parks, Resort room and a payment card.

Met up with Dan and Nicholas and now it was time to go to test TrackI didn't want my son riding this. I had heard it was the fastest ride and even tried to have a CM who worked there convince my son it was scary, but all he would say was Nicholas was past the required height and there was no minimum age to ride this:devil. So off Dan and Nicholas went while I was a nervous wreck....Not too long after they left, I see them coming from the ride. Dan is saying "that was Awesome" and Nicholas is saying "Mom, that was so cool!" Dan did say Nicholas clung on to him like a cling on but I'm glad. Anyone wanting to ride this ride, Husband said it was pretty neat.

Back to the Resort we went. We had a PS for Garden Grille back at Epcot at 8:00 that evening. I was really looking forward to this for the rehitching ceremony and I also knew it was a character dinner so knew kids would love it.
This is the only place at WDW we were disappointed with:( The Land was closed and only the Garden Grille was open. We didn't care for the food at all, we felt rushed, the waiter was very inattentive and forgot about the rehitching and we even reminded them of this at the podium when we checked in. The rehitching is where the waiter does a cute little vow renewal with Mickey and Minnie as witnesses. After we got our check and paid the bill, which was 63.00 with tip. I reminded the waiter about the rehitching and he said he was sorry he forgot. All he could find was Chip to be the witness and he did the little vow renewal thing and gave us a certificate. I was so disappointed but didn't say anything because at least the kids got to see Chip and dale, Farmer Mickey and Pluto, and got all their autographs. As we left this place, we did get to see some IllumiNations, this is very popular and very crowded. My kids liked the fireworks but my dughter kept saying how loud it was.

Back to the Resort now and off to sleep, tomorrow we plan on spending some time at the pool and going to Yacht and Beach club, my kids want to go to Beaches and Cream and try the "Kitchen Sink" which is HUGE!:o

Every now & then, even Disney service falls short. It's so rare that it does, but this sounds like it did put a damper on things. Sorry to hear that, but it sounds like the day was still quite a success!

Our First Family Vacation, Day 4

Day 4
We decided today was going to be a pool day. The Nanea Volcano pool my kids loved at the Polynesian. It has a zero entry to go in and the volcano was really neat, it also has a water slide. They had a kids play fountain. They also offered life vests with your room key as a deposit. These were a real bonus.

Today we woke up and because we were in no hurry to get anywhere, instead of breakfast from the Concierge lounge, we had breakfast at Kona Cafe (right at the Polynesian) Kids split a Mickey pancake, I had coffee and Dan had Tonga Toast (I tasted it and it was so good) Its Banana stuffed FrenchToast, A must try if you have breakfast there.

We head to the pool and pick out some lounge chairs. It's a beautiful day and very sunny, we load on the sunscreen. Kids love the fact they can walk into the pool with it's zero-entry way. We spend the morning here.

Later that day, we decide to head for Yacht and Beach Club Resort and check out Beaches and Cream restaurant. My kids, Nicholas especially, wants to order "The Kitchen Sink" I had a "Quick and Causal" voucher that I paid 11.00 for that includes a drink, entree, a side order and dessert. This is a very nice Resort. I love the wood floors throughout the lobby. We get to the restaurant Beaches and Cream, we ordered a double cheeseburger & fries, Caesar salad and a raspberry smoothie. I told the waitress about the voucher and asked if we could also order "The Kitchen Sink" when we are finished and she said absolutely. She brings our lunch and says, "Since you're all splitting this, it's not on the menu but I brought you a triple cheeseburger." Wow, it was HUGE. I am not kidding you, Beaches and Cream has the best burgers, we all loved it. I wish I could remember our waitresses name, she was so nice! This was a big lunch we split and we were stuffed. All of a sudden, we see the lights start to flicker on and off in the place and everyone dining there gets real quiet and here comes the waitress with this HUGE, actual chrome sink filled with ice cream! She starts walking around the restaurant and starts to yell "In case you're wondering what this is, it's a Kitchen Sink...It has 8 scoops of different kinds of Ice cream topped with everything we have including a whole can of whip cream!" The whole place can't take their eyes off her, wondering where this monster sink of ice cream is going.
OK, now I'm really getting embarrassed:o because I know EXACTLY where it's going! She starts to get closer to our table and my face is beet red (I can feel it) and then after she places it on our table in front of us, she says, "And these 4 little piggies are going to eat it"!!!! I wanted to crawl under the table! The whole place was laughing! It was funny. OK, so besides the 8 scoops of ice cream and a whole can of whip cream, it also had...Brownies, cookies, bananas, candy, peanut butter cups, cherries, hot fudge, cake, sprinkles and what ever else they had(you get the picture, right)? Oh and by the way, it had NO calories!!!:angel
I have to add this place was packed so everyone got to see us (4 little piggies attempt to eat this) We didn't even come close! But it was so good!
Anyway, the burger and fries were 10.99, Caesar salad 5.50, raspberry smoothie 3.75 and the kitchen sink, 21.99. This was a total of 42.23 without tax and tip for an 11.00 voucher! And the voucher included the tax and tip so this was quite the deal. With tax and tip, this would have been over 50.00. I was glad I bought the voucher.

After the kids started to come down from the sugar high, they crashed at the Resort and slept for 2 1/2 hours. When they woke up, back to the pool we went.

Today was our relaxing day, tomorrow will be busy. We go to Magic Kingdom and Typhoon Lagoon and Nicholas and Dan go on a Water Mouse back at our Resort (This is something Nicholas has been wanting to do for Months)

What a hoot! LOL There's an ice cream parlor near me that also has a "kitchen sink" & it sounds very similar. After seeing the whole "hoorah" associated with it, I don't know if I'd have the guts to get it! LMAO

Sounds like you guys are still having a blast! So happy to hear it. BTW, thanks for all the detail on the food & prices...very helpful info to share!

Our first Family Vacation, DAY 5

Day 5
Got our Mickey wake up call at 7:00 a.m. I really miss those now that I'm home.
Off to Crystal Palace for breakfast. It's a character breakfast with Pooh, Eyeore, Piglet and Tigger. Pooh is DD's absolute favorite! Food was good here too. They will even make you an omelet. It's a buffet. Kids got all the Characters autographs and Marissa was a little selfish when it came to Pooh. She kept telling the kids it was her pooh. After a big breakfast, we head out for Typhoon Lagoon.

We walk into Typhoon Lagoon water park and I have to say, this is my favorite water park. It's so pretty. We get 2 life vests for the kids. We pretty much stayed in the kids area. We were lucky to get a couple lounge chairs together. I love how this wave pool has a zero entry too. after a couple hours here, we decide to go back to the Resort. My kids didn't want to leave but once I told DS we had to leave so we had time to rent a Water Mouse, he was OK. Marissa didn't want to leave her bath:dazed (that's what she called the pools)

These little Water Mouse boats my DS loved and DH went on with him. They rented it for 1/2 hour, it was 22.00. My son loved this and wanted to go on it again but we wanted to get to Magic Kingdom for some of the parade.

Magic Kingdom is so magical, every time we entered the place, I felt like a kid. I love the smell of it there. So we head for a spot to view the Parade. As usual, kids love this. Kids eyes are focused on the parade the whole time.

Back to the Resort we go. I love this Hawaiian music they play. The grounds here are just beautiful. Seriously, it feels just like you're in Hawaii. Tonight at the Lounge they had Lo Mein and it was good. They also had individually wrapped crustless peanut and jelly sandwiches for the kids with huge fresh strawberries. And the usual, Cheese, fresh veggie tray, Fresh Fruit, juice, tea, soda and water.

A busy day tomorrow, we go to Magic Kingdom, Epcot and MGM. I finally get to ride RnRC and it was NOT disapointing!
:laugh
