Need ideas for a boy turning 5 at WDW

We are going to be at WDW during my son's 5th birthday. I need some ideas on how to do his birthday at WDW. I would like to have a cake and stuff for him. Do I need to buy the cake at the Grocery Store while we stop on our 30 min. shopping trip coming to WDW or is there some place that can make a cake for me at WDW.

I just need ideas on what to do for him. We have never been to WDW so I have no idea....

Thanks
Amy

Amy , You should plan a character meal on his birthday!! Make sure they are aware it is his birthday!! Also I think if you go to city hall in MK they will give him a special birthday button to wear and characters and CMs make a huge deal all day for kids with birthdays!!!

We did a character meal on my son's birthday at DL and they brought a little cake and sang and made it a blast!! Call ahead to the particular restaurant to see what they offer for birthdays!!

Also make sure you resort knows too!!!

I hope it goes great!!!

The best thing to do is to have a note that it's his birthday put on all of the PS's for that day. (You can call back if you've already made reservations.) Different restaurants handle birthdays differently, so it would be a surprise to everyone.

You *could* go to guest services and get a badge that announces that it's his birthday, but I've heard that a lot of CMs don't even notice, so that might not be a big thing.

When are you going? If there's time, you might try to get into Chef Mickey's for the Character breakfast on his birthday. That would be a GREAT way to start the day.

Does your resort know it's going to be his birthday? I've heard they'll leave something special in the room for him, too.

Definitely do chef mickey's, it is a blast. We did crystal palace on a birthday, also, and the birhtday person got a cupcake and a card with a picture of the characters and all their signatures. Be sure to get a birthday pin from the guest services of whatever park you go to first and let him wear it the whole trip. Last time it was my birhtday, I rode on thunder mt. railroad and when we pulled into the station to unload the CM saw my pin and said"Since it's mom's birthday you can go again! " He let us have another ride.
