Animal Kingdom Meal Deal

I know that many of you visit other Disney-related sites regularly, but for those of you that may not have seen this . . . on Mousesavers, I found this great money saver:

The Animal Kingdom "Meal Plus" Program allows you to purchase a special certificate at any Animal Kingdom counter service restaurant (Restaurantosaurus, Flame Tree Barbecue, Pizzafari, or Tusker House) that entitles you to the following:

counter service meal with small drink (non-alcoholic)
coupon for a box of popcorn or an ice cream
coupon for a bottle of water

The cost is $10.99 for adults and $5.99 for kids, which is quite a good deal considering that the higher-priced counter service meals alone can set you back that much, once you add the drink. You must use the coupons on the day you purchase them. This deal is available only at Disney's Animal Kingdom Park.

This is a great deal if you are visiting the park all day and will be eating/snacking while you are there!

You purchase the ticket and get a lunch, popcorn or ice-cream, and a bottled water? Wow! that is a great deal for $10.99. I could easily spend that on just lunch. Thanks for the tip!

Has anyone heard if AK is making this a permanent deal? Or any rumors of ending it? Would love to use it in Dec as I love Flame Tree and those yummy frozen Mickey Bars.

There are no rumors of it ending at this point, and look what else I found:

"MouseSavers.com reader Ruth F reports that the "Meal Plus" certificates are now available at the Magic Kingdom! "You may get a 20oz soft drink or bottled water, a box of popcorn or ice cream (my daughter went to a soft serve stand and got a HUGE waffle cone with her certificate) in addition to the meal. We did get large drinks with the adult meals, the children still got the child size." '

I will *definately* check this out!

Wow! This is such a good idea. I'm glad Disney seems to be expanding it. Did you happen to notice which MK resturants are participating?

I'd sure appreciate it if anyone can confirm before tomorrow night that the Meal Deal is going on at MK. And which counter service restaurants, if not all, accept them. We'd definitely do this!

Thanks!

Meal Plus certificates at AK, there's no expiration on the program listed at this time.

I contacted Guest Services at the Magic Kingdom and the CM said they are NOT offering it, that the woman may have run into a Test Marketing program or something, but that the Magic Kingdom is not offering it at this time. I'll ask again when I get there in a week.

Sorry to get us all excited - I was so happy when I saw it! :D

I'll check while we're there (in just a few more hours - YEA!) and if I find out anything I'll try to post what I found out.

I talked with one of the customer service reps regarding the Meal Voucher thing at the MK. She said that they are doing a test pilot for it and as far as she knows the test is still going on. So for those of you that are going in the next few weeks maybe you will luck out and take part in it. Let us know how it is when you come back!!:)

Just got in late last night and will be posting a travel report tonight or tomorrow (man, am I TIRED!!!!).

I wish I had been able to find out something on a meal deal at MK, but wasn't able to. It would sure be great if they do something like that in the future.

We thought the meal deal at AK was the best food and the best value during our 8 days there. We at at Tusker House and the food was excellent (we had the chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, and green beans). One of the boys had the mac & cheese and the other one had the pb&j sandwich for kids.

I was looking on Mousesavers and noticed that the price of the meal deal at AK is now listed as $11.99 for adults...still $5.99 for kids.

I still think its worth it...just wanted to pass it along.
