meal vouchers expiration date

The last time I bought these from hotwire, th expiration date was May 2005. I am wanting to buy some for our trip in June. Has anyone bought them recently and is the expiration date still May?? I read on another thread that disney is trying to phase these out, has anyone else heard that? We used them in August without any problems but there were some restrictions on what we could order at Beaches and Cream that I wasn't expecting. Anyway, has anyone got them with a later expiration than May? I don't want to buy them and find out that they expire befor we go. Thanks, guys!

Re: meal vouchers expiration date

The ones I bought are still dated may 2005. I don't think you will see a later expiration until may. I thought they changed them last year in may too because I waited to buy them until after may....I could be mistaken.

Re: meal vouchers expiration date

I called hotwire a few weeks ago with the same question and they said that if I needed them after May, I would need to wait and purchase them in April or May. They could not give me an exact date this far in advance and told me to give them a call in late April to see if the expiration date had changed. I sure hope that Disney is not phasing them out because we use quite a few of them on each trip. We were at Beaches and Cream in Feb. and the only thing we could not order with the vouchers was the Kitchen sink dessert which is stated on the voucher. What were the restrictions? That is one of our favorite quick placese to eat.

Re: meal vouchers expiration date

We were told we couldn't have milkshakes or smoothies as our beverage, that would have to count as our dessert. We were also told which sundaes or desserts we could have. We could not have any other side except french fries (my DD wanted soup). We still got a lot of food, but not what we really wanted. Maybe it depends on the waitress you get. ours seemed annoyed that we were using the vouchers, which I don't understand because it guarantees her a proper tip.

Re: meal vouchers expiration date

I just ordered some meal vouchers from Hotwire Savings Club for my trip which we leave Friday for. I will let you know what the expiration date is when they come. This will be my first time using them. This is the first time that I have heard about restrictions. I hope we don't have any problems.

Like you, I would think they would be happy to get the "proper tip" guaranteed.. I hope I don't encounter any CM's who get frustrated with these.

I am so sorry that you had a bad experience with a waitress at Beaches and Cream. I hope it was just a bad waitress and not the restaurant because we love it and recommend it to everyone that goes to Diseny World. My sister in law was there at the beginning of August and we gave he family vouchers that they used there and they did not mention having trouble using them. I don't see why the waitress would be upset about the vouchers unless she did not realize how they worked because she would get a propper tip even though she performed less than perfect service.

We used the breakfast feature certs at the CB at Ohanas. Our wiatress looked very pleased when I gave them to her. I have used the reg MVs at Epcot and other places..(alltho never Beaches + Cream) and have never had a CM be anything but nice about it.

Re: meal vouchers expiration date

I dont mean to soud redundant but I was just looking agian and it says that the character breakfasts are either 8.99 or 9.99 depending on the restaraunt. But the hotwire vouchers are 11.00. Our main plan is to use the wishes from the silver plan on the adults and pay seperate for the kids (suggested by wdw-dine) I wanted to find some discount on the kids breakfast but Im not sure about this being a savings- any thoughts????

Re: meal vouchers expiration date

For me the savings are : the tip is covered, and I can pay for my meals before we go. this way I can budget for other things and not have to worry about how much I need to spend on food <{:0) Works for me!!

Re: meal vouchers expiration date

would you normally tip for counter service? I suppose some might. I dont know how to figure out what I will do if I use the wishes from the silver plan for the adults and then how do I go and figure a tip based just on the kids since the rest is covered in the adults tab. My husband thinks I need to get a grip!
