Disney Visa

Is it worth it to get this card when my trip is so close?

Right now, I get cash back or miles from my card.

What is a Disney Dream Dollar worth?

Thanks for any info!
Lisa

Re: Disney Visa

A dream dollar is just that, one dollar. For this trip, we have close to $200 extra dollars to spend. Right now you get $25 extra dollars just for signing up, so that is like a free meal, right? Once you are ready to cash in your dollars you call or go online and order your rewards card ,which looks like a credit card. You can spend it anywhere at the parks or in restaurants, even for your hotel bill. You can spend it at disney stores ,too. Once you have the card you can reload it as you earn dollars by phone or online. you also get special offers. For instance, my family is going to see Disney on Ice for only $30 total for a family of 5 because we got 2 free kisds tickets and reduced tickets for the other 3. We also got a great pay for 4 stay and get 3 free days for our vacation last year. In my opinion it is definitely worth it.

Re: Disney Visa

I also recommend a Disney Visa, if you are one that frequently buys things from Disney, or goes on Disney vacations. To me, I would rather earn Disney reward dollars than cash back on another card....it works out basically the same, except that I can spend it on Disney instead of blowing cash somewhere else! If you aren't a disney customer very often, then I would stick with the cash back and miles.

Re: Disney Visa

My mother and I share a Disney Visa. When we had to buy a new(to us,anyway)car in September after the hurricane, they let us put 3500 of the purchase price on the card,so that got us 35 reward dollars. Yesterday,my mother bought a brand-new Hyundai(sp?) Santa fe,and they let her put 3500 of the price on the card again. That's 70 reward dollars in just two transactions. My mother figures when it's time for her to renew her AP,she'll get it for next to nothing. Yes,it is worth it to get a Disney Visa.

Re: Disney Visa

Along the same subject... when you get the reward dollars, do they expire?
Yeah... I don't have the card. I want one, but I gotta take care of some other financial stuff (ahem... new car) before I get another card.

The reward dollars expire in 4-5 years in your account. Once you transfer them to your Rewards Card from your account, they will expire in 1 year, so don't transfer them until your ready to use them.

Re: Disney Visa

I used mine at DLR last summer. They treat it just like a debit card. Your receipt should say how many points you have left after each transaction...I think. I used all of mine in one shot at the World of Disney, so I may be wrong!

Re: Disney Visa

FYI-The sign up rewards take awhile to post to your account.. make sure you find out how long before you will get them :O) I had to have mine transferred while at DTD because of this. You may also want to check other threads Re: DV card...
Good and bad points....

I posted this recently.. I have a Disney Visa also. There are many reports of deals being offered to "target" groups (possibly those who rarely use the DV?) such as room rates and extra points ect... that others -including long term DV holders- are unable to receive. The special deals they offer have never worked great for me... We got a better room rate using DV last year but it was later (a few weeks) offered to the general public as well. This is not to say that others have not been able to use the specials to their advantage.

I pay mine off every month also but have been looking at other cards that offer 2-5% cash back. I have experienced issues with the amount of rewards posted being less than I calculated. I called and asked if I could be a part of the special 2% group and they said yes - after clearing it with a manager- I would see them posted in 2 months but they later recanted and will not give them to me. In fact, the conversation apparently never happened and it is impossible to do?- Not very Disney-ish! But this is a CC company not Disney!

This card is great if you really want the rewards tucked away so that you can't spend them for anything else. But if you have enough self control ;o) you may consider a higher cashback rate and throw it in a savings acct where you will also earn interest on the cash! Jmho. I'll keep the DV in case a really awesome deal comes along but I am not counting on it :O)

I do have to say every time I whip out the DV to pay... I get the Disney "tingle" and a smile on my face. Which doesn't help the PDS any :O).

Either way, free money is free money as long as you don't carry a balance.

Or you can go to the Customer Service Kiosk at DTD and pick up a card and have the balance transferred in minutes. (If you don't have time for them to send you one) Call DV and they will give you the places you can do this. I think there is one other place also.

I had no idea we could do this. I thought I had to call and have the card mailed to my house. Thanks for the information!
