I just found out that DD8's First Communion is scheduled during our trip to Disney in May. That's the bad news.

The good news is I called the condo that we've got reservations at, and was able to change it to the school vacation week in April. From what I understand, MA schools get the week of Patriot's Day (Boston Marathon) off while the rest of the country gets Easter Week off. So I've heard that the crowds are manageable and the girls won't miss as much school.

The bad news is I don't know yet if I can get the same rate at Disney's Carribean Beach for 4 nights before we check into the condo. I was able to get $79 for our May trip. Their computers are down right now - I'm waiting for a call back.

Finally, I'm checking on flights and they are HIGH. I was seeing $161 for our May trip - now they are well over $350.

Should I expect them to go down, or should I try to get a flight NOW and hope for the best?

April is seriously iffy. You are going to see some crowds then....hense the different rates on airfare etc. You will have sping breaks etc to contend with. Disney is regular season then as well and getting the $79 for the resort is a long shot. What exact week are you talking here. I will be able to look it up a little better for you. As for the airfare, check the policy of the airline first. If they don't penalize you for changing, book it now. If you see a deal or whatever later on, you can just change it over.

You may be able to change your tickets to another date/flight for only a change fee(somewhere around $50/ticket). That would be less than the increase. Call and try it.

I know the schools in Indiana vary about spring break. Some have it during Easter and others before or after.

The exact week is April 17th - 24th. That's when the condo is booked.

Then, we would try to add the Disney resort from the 13th - 17th.

When is Spring Break? I know the 2 weeks around Easter is busy - I didn't realize Spring Break would affect me then.

Dana, where are you looking it up? The unofficial guide shows it as a Level 4 for crowds - "moderately busy - crowds primarily affect headliner attractions"

If you have to book at $350, go ahead, but keep an eye on that flights airfare. If it comes down between the time you booked and the time of the trip, most airlines will give you vouchers for the difference. I did this last time with Delta and got $90 in vouchers for another trip!

Best of luck - I'd have to guess though that you are not completely "safe" from spreak break effects anytime between March 1 and April 15. I hope you have a fabulous trip!!

BOOK THE FLIGHT NOW!!!!!!! Airfare in April is very high, and I wish I could think of a word to mean that it is higher than high. LOL... April prices as far as airfare will only go up from here.

I think you will be alright crowds wise, just keep in the back of your mind that you might run into some. I would simply go into the parks early, and use EMH(the days you are at CBR). If you find crowds being low, and don't like getting up early then you don't have to worry about it.

I looked here and Spring break varies from March 21 - April 11 so that is good news for your dates.

Usually I stick with "patience is a virtue" regarding airfare, but I think I would trust disneyguy on this matter. Good luck!
