AAA membership

Is it going to be worth joining AAA for 45$$ to book our resort and buy tickets for our upcoming trip in June? How much of a discount does AAA actually give, or will I be spending the discount on my membership fee.

Hello!! I booked a trip for 2/5-2/12/05 for me, DH, DD 5 & DS 2 @ Coronado resort for $ 107 a night with AAA discount. I was told, by the CM who booked it, that without the AAA discount it would have been $134 per night. A $27 per night difference, x 7 nights= a $189 savings. Sounds good to me!! It might depend on what resort you book & how far in advance. FYI I booked in Sept. 04 Hope this helps you!!

AAA gives Awesome Discounts!!!!!!!!!!

I booked with them last year and am going to again. If you didn't know January is Disney month at AAA, they give you discount prices on Disney world's package prices (same price you get online with them or over the phone.) AAA gives a certain % discount on certain hotel categories, Value, Mod, Deluxe etc.. (I will look them up) and an even more discount on The Swan and Dolphin which I believe is 35%. Iam booking the WL, Disney and mouseketrips gave me a price of 3245.11 which is for 2adults, 1child, 7nites hotel at WL, 7 day passes, with the Park hopper and magical option and the Dining plan. AAA gave me a rate of 3059 for same package except Iam getting a midsize car through Hertz which a car was not included in Disney's price. THAT is a deal!!! So Iam paying for 3059 for everything (ohh Insurance Incl. too) and everyone, Now I just need to book my air!!!

Ohh this is for a standard room at the Wilderness Lodge.

My friend's sister has time share in Kissimmee and she uses AAA for the park hopper passes because she says they have the best rates.
So yeah Definately sign up for the membership and book your trip thru them!!! Iam very happy with them!

Re: AAA membership

We just spoke with a CM last night about the new MYW tickets...very confusing if you are staying more than 10 days!! Anyway, we were quoted 15% discount on our room and she stated it was regular season, May.

It is worth buying it. Not only do you get discounts at WDW for rooms but any other vacation you might end up planning. The AAA Magazine is great too. We got our truck all checked out for nothing at a AAA authorized garage in Oct. It was a free offer from AAA, which was listed in the magazine.

Hope some of that helped.

It can't hurt, right. Sometimes they really have some good deals.

Re: AAA membership

Just a quick note on this. AAA is a reseller of Disney travel. When Disney does offer a discount such as the Fairytale package, etc, they do not offer it, unless they go through Disney travel. I think it comes down to which AAA office you use. Some are very good, some are horrible. The one by my house is pretty good. They have Disney nights, and are pretty knowledgeable. The one downtown is horrible. They wouldn't know the difference between the Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness if it bit them in the behind.

Oh, and any AAA member can get the AAA discounts trough CRO or any travel agent, you don't need to go through AAA.

Re: AAA membership

You can join AAA for $45? It cost us $60 plus $30 to add a spouse. That was with a special offer we received.

Re: AAA membership

I joined AAA today for 2 people at a rate of 56.00...however it only brought our room at POrt Orleans down $8.00 per night...not really worth it if you ask me. I am pleased to have it in case I breakdown though! I'm thinking of staying off site.

Re: AAA membership

Amie, I personally would not join AAA specifically for the discounts offered. I often check AAA for their discount prices but, frankly, I have always found better discounts elsewhere.

However, in my neck of the woods, it is definitely worth the membership fee to me for two of us in my family to belong. It cost us just over $100 (can't recall the exact amount), but that has always been returned to us each year with one or two calls (towing, getting a tire changed, etc.) One tow around here usually costs $50-$60 (at least). The peace of mind may be worth the memebrship fee to you, too.

Re: AAA membership

We have always gotten really good rates through AAA for our Disney vacations. I would even see if they could get you a good rate offsite w/passes. We do this sometimes and we get really good deals. For example, two of us at a Holiday Inn about 1 mi from the maingate was around $800 and did include passes. It all depends on when you go. Good luck!

Re: AAA membership

Hey,
It is totally up to you. My DH and I joined specifically because we drive to WDW every year from the northeast. We figured it would be worth it for safety reasons on the road. This year we joined the DVC and are looking into different options for passes. We are also going to do a Universal run in Feb. when we go. When we were looking up passes for Feb. we decided to go with the annual pass because of the discounts offered to DVC members. Then we needed to figure out for Universal, and we immediatley went for the AAA discounts. AAA also offered some awesome discounts for WDW parks as well. Also, if you travel through the year you also get discounts. For example, when we travel we get discounts on hotels because we are AAA members. We think it's totally worth the $45.00. Good Luck!!

Re: AAA membership

We saved alot on the Cruise. We never thought AAA was worth it, but it was, and our "travel planner" was perfect, it was like we had our own assistant, and she even sent us a bottle of wine on the cruise. GREAT SERVICE!.
If you live in the CT area ask for Caroline!!!!!at AAA

Re: AAA membership

I've belonged to AAA for twenty years, but for driving reasons (Towing, flat tires, out of gas, etc.). After reading this post, I tried booking a quickie vacation through my local office and got AWFUL service. Not only was I not treated well, but the trip actually ended up being more than if I had done all the booking myself. Long story short, we had to cancel the trip (just after we booked it two days before). She initially just said sorry, and that we were going to have to eat the whole $1400, but after much discussion, we finally just had to pay $200 in cancelation fees. It was a $200 lesson in why I always do better getting deals and booking travel on my own. I guess this just goes to show you that all AAA travel offices are NOT alike!!
