I've had gross water from restaurants and stuff OUTSIDE of Disney in Florida. I've had gross water from water fountains INSIDE Disney... usually because it wasn't quite cold enough.

I always get ICE WATER from counter service places in Disney... as long as it's cold, it's good... and it's FREE. You don't need to even carry a bottle around unless you like to sip all day as opposed to downing a drink ever couple hours.

We've added flavors to the ice water too... those little packets are quite easy to carry around.

I agree completely. When the FL water is room temp or just cool, it's disgusting. An overwhelming smell and taste of sulphur. But when it's really ice cold, the taste is quite diminished and easier to drink. So putting just plain water into a bottle to carry around with you will taste gross and you would need the flavor packet. If you drink it fresh and ice cold it will be fine by itself.

I carry the pre-sweetened lemonade flavor packets with me to use in my ice water.

I tend to pic-pocket the people around me. It seems to help. LOL

No seriously......the best tip I have bring your own food for breakfast. We keep a bag of granola bars, etc in the hotel room to start our day so we don't spend lots of $ to start the day off. If you fly you could stop at a local store and stock up.

Can you believe it? I checked and it's up to almost 50,000 views! Shows we all like to save $$$ !

I think I started this thread not long after I joined MB (psst, it was Disney Central back then!). I had read a few budget tips in books and I realized there was an incredible wealth of Disney wisdom shared by the members here, so I threw in the provocative "cheapskate" so maybe posters would not be ashamed to give their deepest, cheapest secrets to saving money in the World.

The response has been amazing and even though there's been a little contention here and there, I love it. I still come back every now and then and always learn new stuff. We MB'ers can be really creative! Hope it keeps going. Funny it's kind of appropriate to the economy right now.

Re: Really Cheapskate Tip

We went to WDW 3 times in one year. (It was the most we had ever gone in a year's time) We are oldsters. We didn't enjoy our last trip as much. I think because they do the same parades, fireworks, etc, all during the year. (with the exception of MNSSHP & MVMC which you have to pay extra for) I think once or twice a year for us is enough.

My cheapskate tip: I noticed that some counter services don't advertise regular hamburgers or hot dogs on their menus. You have to ask if they have them. They are cheaper then those items on their menus.

Re: Really Cheapskate Tip

well, I don't really consider myself a cheapskate but I consider myself a 20yr old thats still studying his carrier and loves disney so much we would still go to disney while studying for his paramedics license and still get it. lol!

but what my g/f and I do is since we live in miami. which is like 3 hrs away. we take a cooler with essentials.

List of things we always take.
Bread, cheese, ham, cream cheese, bagels, saltine crackers, sodas, water's or water bottle, Milk, cereal, cottage cheese, chef boyardi stuff, chips, poptarts, koolaid flavor packs or crystal light, snack bars, hoho's, twinkie's, stuff like that.

sometimes people do look at us like what the ****!!! but we always take the stuff I would much rather spend $25 on groceries for the week than spending like $15 on breakfast alone for one day.

now we do go out and eat at nice restaurant's. for example we just went the first week of december this year and we ate at the whispering canyon(2nd favorite), cinderella's royal table, crystal palace(my g/f's favorite), and tokyo dining(our favorite place to eat.) so what we save in eaing quick service food we delight ourselves with table service dinner's which I rather have A LOT more.

Also a trick I learned was that you can ask at all quick serve places for a cup of water and they give you the size you want and it tastes a lot better than the water that comes out of their water fouintains. but thats not the point if you still don't like the water we bring the little koolaid flavor packs which make it A LOT better.

Have you tried grabbing snacks from small children? Unlike pickpocketing, very little skill is required, but you have to be fast on your feet (the parents chase you).
