You know, if you buy a bunch of them online, like from Oriental Trading, they come shipped to you in a hard cardboard tube to protect them. That would fare very well in your suitcase. You could keep them for a long time and use them after your trip at all kinds of different events.

Have you ever purchased them from OT? My sister did and lets say she purchased 50. Out of the 50 20 of them were bad. Im not sure on the exact amount she bought but I do know about half were no good. I was thinking of doing that as well untill she told me about the bad experience last night.

2 summers ago I had a bowling bday party my DD10 and it was a glow party so I was able to get 20 bracelets in a tube from the dollas store but I havent seen the tubes there in a while.

Don't know if they have Dollar Tree where you live, but the Dollar Tree's around here seem to always have glow necklaces and bracelets year around.

We have a Halloween party every year and buy glow toys (varies each year) to pass out. We always buy them online very cheap (must since we're buying around 250). Just google and you'll find several sites.

If you're going to put them in your checked bag, I might do a little research. The cargo hold has lower pressure.

See now, I have had terrible luck with the glow sticks from the Dollar stores. If I have been lucky enough to get one that actually glowed, it would be very weak and short lasting.
And yet my friend who bought the big tube from OT had all good ones!

Must be a hit or miss thing no matter where you buy them.

Never thought of the air pressure in the plane, but the TSA may have a problem with them in carry-ons seeing as they are a liquid.

Two good sites are GlowUniverse.com -- Glowsticks, Glow Necklaces & Bracelets and Party supplies, glow products and novelties Windy City Novelties, but there are others. They come well packed in cardboard tubes.

Re: Really Cheapskate Tip

We bring our own glow sticks every year. When we would put them in our luggage we would typically lose half. I started sending them with out care package about a week in advance and I haven't had that problem since. I use a cardboard tube to store them, and it works very well.

Re: Really Cheapskate Tip

we used a cheapskate tip this trip that saved us 30 dollars. for 3 of the days, we skipped housekeeping, took out our own trash, and reused the towels instead of having fresh towels every day. 10 dollars a day x3 days, and honestly it was ok b/c it was just the 2 girls and me. Back when we brought 3 little kids and 5 of us were using the bathroom it wasn't something I'd do.

I don't understand - I've never been to a hotel that charges extra for housekeeping. Where in WDW is this charged?

They must be staying @ a time share off property, they charge for housekeeping and trash removal.

Re: Really Cheapskate Tip

We save for a long time in order to go and for us going cheap means staying at a Value instead of a Deluxe. I agree with Dana we don't want to worry about how much and where the money is going. We do use the ME and will get the Resort mug after all it's a Disney Vacation

Re: Really Cheapskate Tip

The cheapest way I can think of saving money at WDW is as follows.
Move to Florida and only go to value resorts during Fl. special rates. Leave the kids home with someone else. Never go to the theme parks. Bring plenty of Pop Tarts to eat. If you must go somewhere to eat, make it McDonald's in Downtown Disney. Don't ever buy souvenirs. Don't drive your own vehicle anywhere. Use your old Disney mugs anywhere you go and never tip. That ought to do it.
Or not.

If you don't go to the parks, why do you go? I've heard of people who take a no park trip every so often, but not never going into the parks. I only take trips to disney so I'm only guessing, but there must be other great resorts that don't cost as much as disney.

Seriously, we go camping at Ft. Wilderness. If it were up to DH, we wouldn't even go to a park. When we go, we usually take 2 days to go inside the parks. The rest of the time we go to DTD, visit different resorts to eat & such, explore & swim at our resort (which has alot), visit with other campers, etc. Some campers spend the winter there & never enter the parks. We take it easy & just lounge around when we want to.
