souvenir prices

Wasn't sure where to post this. It's a question my DH wants to know (frugal guy that he is ). Are souvenirs and "stuff" equally priced around WDW or will we find variances in prices of the same merchandise, depending on where we go?

Re: souvenir prices

The price of a T-shirt you found in your resort will be priced the exacy same all over WDW. Expect to pay $19 - $29 for a T-shirt depending on which ones. The best thing I ever did was get my DD into the pin trading. A few pins and she can trade her heart out. she never asks for anything but pins now and I don't end up buying the stuff that never sees the light of day after the trip is over. Pins range from $6.50 - $8.00 but can go higher. You cna get a starter set with 4 pins and run with it. My DD loves the CM interaction and never passes a CM without first checking if they have a lanyard..lol Another good, frugal thing for WDW is the pressed coins collection and beanie stuffed animals.

Re: souvenir prices

I've never seen prices vary. I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter where you uy it, if it is the same item it will be the same cost.

Re: souvenir prices

prices don't usually vary, I think the pin trading idea is great, i have been doing it for a few years now and i love it when a child wants to trade.

Re: souvenir prices

We found the prices to be very consistant througout all the parks. If you see something you have to have, don't alway's think you are going to see it again. There are some items that are park specific and you don't want to have to backtrack to buy something if you can help it.

Re: souvenir prices

I bought my DD a hat that she feel in love with at Shades of Green. That was the only place that we could find it...anyway, there prices were lower for T shirts and hats. I probably would not have gone over there but had too if she was going to get that special hat. Not far from Magic Kingdom!! It was cheaper!

Re: souvenir prices

They are always the same price no matter where you see it. We try to do most of our shopping at DTD at the big disney store because we can get a 10%discount with our AP.

At downtown disney, in a very small nook between two stores...you can find a clearance area...I found some great items for Christmas there!!!

Re: souvenir prices

There is also a clearance store in with the outlets. We got our DD a sweatshirt with Minnie on it for next to nothing.

Re: souvenir prices

I once found two pairs of shorts, on the same rack, priced differently. I swear - they almost closed the parks, the CM's were in such a panic. I guess they had missed re-pricing the lower-costing pair. They had to give them to me for the price marked, but, boy, were they upset!

Re: souvenir prices

There is an outlet store (I think it's called Character Corner) that sells Disney souvenirs that are outdated or "seconds" at EXTREMELY low prices. My DD bought a dress there to wear at the Luau. It had been for sale at the Polynesian for about $60 and she bought for $15.00. There was a thread sticking out of one of the hems. Big deal. That was a couple years ago, but she still wears the dress.

Re: souvenir prices

I had asked this very question my last trip to WDW and they told me that they price all of the merchandise the same throughout Disney. No variances, except the Disney Store at DTD has the clearance area. I was told no other place has a clearance area (but I'm not sure about that-anyone know?).
If you can go offsite, you can get unofficial WDW souvenirs very inexpensively if you go out towards Kissimmee.

Re: souvenir prices

The Character Corner outlet store is (I think) On International Drive & is less than 3 miles from the main gate area. It's in one of the billion or so outlet malls in Orlando.

Mouse Gear at Epcot use to have some really good clearance bargains. But in the past year or so, I haven't seen anything there. There is that version of the Disney "dollar store" at DTD now.
