Icon3 Help, Can I carry Water into park?

I have been trying to figure out the cheapest way to eat and snack in the park. The last time I was there was 5 years ago and I know since 9/11 they are checking bags when you enter the park. Everyone in the other forums about water said they take water in. I emailed Disney to ask them the restrictions of what you could or could not take into the park and this is the response:
Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort.
All guests are being asked to allow inspection of any backpacks, purses,
fanny packs, diaper bags
and camera bags brought into our theme parks and water parks.
With the exception of food items for guests with specific dietary
restrictions, we do not permit
guests to bring food and beverage items into our theme parks. Generally,
however, plastic bottles
for water, juice, etc. are allowed.

I can't wait for my next trip at the end of July. I think I have finally figured out that the Disney Dining Plan probably is the way to go. If I eat a hotdog and a drink with no extras it will cost us about the same as with the plan (appetizers, desserts, etc). I love to drink water and I refuse to drink out of the water fountain in Fl. I will be staying at PC. Anyway, the reply from disney says no food or beverage items into the park - only plastic bottles. Am I reading it wrong. Help!
Any other money saving tips for food would be appreciated.

Welcome to DC!

You won't have any trouble taking water or snacks into the parks. A lot of times I am holding a bottle of water in my hand as we enter the park. Our last few trips I have thrown single size bags of crackers/cookies in our back pack and no one says a word looking through my bag.

That is great to hear!
Does anyone know about the meal voucher tickets that they are selling on eBay? I am getting the Disney Dining plan but I think it is different.

Do not buy the meal vouchers on Ebay they are way over priced.

Stick with Disney's Dining Plan, it's a great deal.

We carry all kinds of snacks and drinks in our backpack. Almost everytime the security guards check ours bags, they joke around about wanting to eat our snacks. They are very cool about it and never take anything away from us.

Re: Help, Can I carry Water into park?

Not only do we bring a few little snacks in our backpack for ds, but depending on the time of the year, we bring a soft sided igloo cooler with two 1 quart rubbermaid bottles filled with juice and ice. Upon entering the park it gets searched but we have never been told we could not bring it into the park. The little cooler fits perfectly in the basket under the umbrella stroller.

We always bring a soft side cooler with water and juice boxes in it, and then we have another bag that has all kinds of snacks for the kids. We have never been questioned about, only 1 guard checking bags ever said anything, and he said he was going to find us during his break, because we had great snacks!!

Welcome to DC!

No problems here. We have water bottle carriers that we bring with us, along with some snacks in our backpack.

Re: Help, Can I carry Water into park?

Thanks to everyone for their reply's. I will bring water and snacks now. Next question: What do you do with your bags of "Stuff" while you are on a ride? Last time we had a stroller and left stuff there. I don't think anyone ever bothered it. This time we don't need a stroller but I am thinking about renting one just to hold everything we have and then park it outside each ride. Of course camera, etc...would stay with us where ever we went and not left outside for just anyone to pick up. I can't imaging trying to find the theaf in the middle of a crowd like that.

Re: Help, Can I carry Water into park?

You can either rent a locker near the enterance (not expensive at all) or just keep the stuff with you. We kept our soft sided cooler with us and there was always plenty of room on the rides to stash it so it wasn't on our lap.
Welcome to DC and have fun on your trip!!

Re: Help, Can I carry Water into park?

We take our bag with us on every ride. It has never been a problem. I set it by me in the seat or on faster rides I put it on the floor and put my foot through the strap.
