I was shopping is the local Disney Store in the mall and the subject came up about the water at WDW. She bought a 48 can softsided cooler and loaded it up the day of her flight, took the cooler as a carry-on and the items were still fozen/cold 5 hours later when they arrived in WDW. WOW!!! They used the ice machine at the hotel to keep everything cold during her stay. This saved her 10 a night for a fridge, 2 or more bucks for bottled water on site, not to mention other cheap refridged snacks and her stomach from bad water at WDW.

Re: Great Tip from Disney Store Employee
Why would she have to worry about saving the $10/night for a fridge? Aren't they free in all the rooms now? Ours was free in May at WL, and I remember a buzz about them being in all the rooms complimentary. I mean, I'm sure the cooler holds more, and you don't have to load up the mini fridge with water, so it is still a good idea, I just don't see it saving money on the fridge. Am I wrong here?

They're not free at value resorts yet, Snazzy.

yes, we always bring out own water and snacks and soda. It's so pricey at the parks!

Re: Great Tip from Disney Store Employee
I think the water is only bad at the Mexico pavillion at Epcot. Disney wants everything to be authentic.

Re: Great Tip from Disney Store Employee
I didn't have a problem with bad water @ WDW. We just took a Brita water bottle (with filter for better taste because I'm really picky) & refilled it @ the water fountains in the parks.

Re: Great Tip from Disney Store Employee
When we went in july we froze about 8 bottles (poured some water out first) and put them in our soft sided cooler and took it as a carry on (you just can't carry a cooler with ice). We packed other bottles in with our luggage (a few in each bag). Then we had another soft sided cooler in our luggage. When we got there we had the one cooler with frozen water we took to the park. The other cooler we put in the room and put more water on ice from the ice machine. This save the $10 per night frig charge. We always had cold water. The frozen water melted nicely (so did we) through out that first day. It worked for us. We even had a few bottles we had to bring back home with us.

Re: Great Tip from Disney Store Employee
Driving, we bought a cooler that plugs into your cigerette lighter. When we got to our resort we had the adaptor to plug it into the wall. The cooler cost about $50, but we use it all the time for groceries and camping trips.

Swolphin doesn't have room refrigerators either. We get the $1.37 one from WalMart and all the water bottles when we get to Orlando.
