Icon7 Newbie confused about free dining plan and travel options

THe promotion that they are offering currently from August 21 - Oct 4 for the free Dining plan.... do you have to book through Disney? Is it only for their moderate price hotels or do they offer it for value hotels as well? If I wait until later in the fall what are my chances that they will offer it again?

Looking to travel with my hubby, 3 children 12, 5, and 2 as well as extended family. Would love any helpful hints and advice. Hubby and I went to Disney 6 years ago and have been dreaming of bringing the kids.....just looking for an affordable vacation.

Re: Newbie confused about free dining plan and travel options

Welcome to DC! Firsh the deal was offered for all resorts but there were limited rooms at each resort. Now that the deal is almost over (must be booked by Aug. 20) it may be more difficult to get the resort you want. If you are flexible you shouldn't have a problem. Also, you can book with a TA or via Disney to take advantage of this (Mousketrips a sponsor here is AWESOME!) If you wait until later the chances are slim that this will be offered again. We are going Oct. 14-22 so as much as I wish we would get it, I know we probably won't. Hope that helps!

You can book through Disney directly, or any decent travel agent. It is available for any of the Disney resorts. They are just pushing the moderates, since they didn't book up the first time around. Values are available.

My guess is that we will see discounts like this from now on rather than the room discount types. This is a great incentive to stay on property, and that is what Disney wants.

I would suggest you try to get this now. I am 99% sure this won't be available in October, though we might see it in November/December.

Re: Newbie confused about free dining plan and travel options

If you book through a travel site like Travelocity can you then call Disney and ask them to add it to your stay....or does it need to be directly through Disney themselves?

Thank you so much for your help!

Re: Newbie confused about free dining plan and travel options

I have a good question about the free dining that I included during trip for the last week of September. I have chosen my restaurants. Is everything included on the plan or certain items? I have chosen restaurants that are on the list for approved dining. Is there a certain dollar amount that each person is allowed each day or what? I am new at this people and would like any tips and insight possible.

I think (and I can tell you more after my Labor Day trip) that there are SOME restaurants that may exclude a few items, but there is no $$ limit. For the most part, each person gets to select one appetizer, one entree and one dessert from the menu. Hope that helps!

I do so hope you are right Mickey! I have ten free days at the end of Sept and would love to have more at our early Dec trip! My husband would call me Goddess if I actually booked two free dining trips to Disney!
