water bottles

Wondering wether I should bring an actual refillable sports water bottle or just keep refilling the same bottle of water while on my trip. I've seen so many people say to bring your own water bottles...especially for the kids, but not sure what kind they mean.

I am at my 7 day countdown and now my nerves are kicking in as if I am ill prepared.....finding packing and planning for our first family vacation to be more stressful then I had imagined!

Re: water bottles

Have some kind of water bottle! We buy the disposable 24 or 30 packs and take a few of them into the parks everyday in a small rolling cooler. Some people say the water at WDW does not taste very good! So we have always bought the bottle water at a grocery store near the parks!

Re: water bottles

We have always taken our own water bottles with us(get the type with an insulated cover) and have filled them up at the baby changing stations from the bottle water there. I am not sure how old your kids are but the station is also a great place to escape the heat also.

Re: water bottles

Sometimes we bring water bottles in with us. I like to freeze them and then carry them in a soft cooler that fits under DDs stroller.

Re: water bottles

I don't want to sound all "beware beware" but I have heard that you should only refill refillable bottles. The disposable kind are only made for single use and should only be refilled one time at the most because they put off some kind of chemical if used over and over. So if you are going to refill, get the hard plastic ones that are made for that. Just something I read in health magazine I think.

Re: water bottles

I buy a few water bottles from the gift shop when I get there and just keep refilling them. The taste of florida water has never seemed icky to me.

We carried the Brita Sports bottles and refilled them. They have the filter right in the bottle and the water tasted fine to us.

Thanks! It has been forever. We finally moved! Bought the house we have been trying to get for 2 years. Thought we had lost it forever this time last year. Everyone is doing great! Will have to catch up sometime. I hope to get down to Tink's neck of the woods later this fall.

Re: water bottles

I buy a lot of water in the parks and sometimes refill the bottles. I pack enough around the park w/o adding several water bottles for everyone.

That is such a hijack!!!

Back to topic - We're not too fond of tapwater - from anywhere. So we usually buy a case at Sam's Club and take to WDW. Carry a few in with us each day. But I'm debating on investing in the Brita bottles.

Re: water bottles

I'm from Florida and I drink the tap water at home, but it always tastes weird to me in Disney. We bring a cooler to keep in the hotel room and we all just carry a water bottle or two with us in our own bags/purses/backpacks/whatever. Buying drinks in the parks can get so expensive.

Re: water bottles

If you can manage a stop at a grocery store before you go to your resort, a lot of them sell multi-packs of tiny little half-pint water bottles. They fit perfectly in a fanny pack or purse and are really handy to refill, rather than lugging around big bottles. We replace them each morning before heading out to the parks, so hopefully we don't encounter any of that "harmful chemical" stuff Pumouse was talking about from refilling them too much. (<---I think I have read that too!)

Although...I have to admit that I've been known to break down and buy a Dasani now and then, because Florida tap water tastes like pure PLASTIC to me.

Those Brita water bottles with the filters sound really intriguing - may have to look into that!

Re: water bottles

My family thought the water tasted funky... Is it just me, or does the water actually "smell" different, too?

Anyhoo, we learned our lesson and are planning on buying bottled water before we hit WDW. By the way, does anyone know how to get to the SuperWalmart in that area?
