Birthday's at the World?

I'm not sure this is the right place to put this thread, but I didn't feel it fit in elsewhere, either. If it's the wrong spot, point me in the right direction!!

Ok, so when we do go, we want to go at the end of April. Either in 2007 or 2008, we're not sure which yet (fingers crossed it's 07). We picked the end of April because it's not fully summer yet, so the heat won't be as bad, but also because it's the end of the Spring Break time, and goes back to the cheap prices for the resorts. Also- both my birthday & my oldest daughter's are at the end of April (the 27th & 28th).

What are some things Disney can do to help celebrate a birthday? Free or cheap preferably, but just anything works.

What restaurants are able to provide a cake (free or not)? I've read that birthday people can get a pin at any of the main parks to announce thier birthday, which is cool. Will the resort do something? Can I have them place something in the room?

I know you can get goofy birthday calls, too, which is cool.

So, anything you've experianced, or know they do, or what not- let me know!! We're not going specifically to celebrate our birthday's, it just happened to work out that way nicely. ;)

Re: Birthday's at the World?

We were just at WDW in May for my DS's 8th birthday and it was really special. He got a pin at each of the parks and so many CMs (and some guests) wished him happy birthday. He got a cupcake at Chef Mickey's, Liberty Tree Tavern, and 50's PrimeTime. Our resort (SSR) send a card and 3 balloons from Goofy on his birthday. I didn't count on anything extra so all of this was so special.

A CM at DTD stopped us and took Nathan to a phone and Goofy was on teh line wishing him a happy birthday. The CM even wrote out a Magcal Moments certificate for Nathan.

You can order a cake but you will have to pay for it. I ordered a gift basket for my son and had it delivered to our room.

Re: Birthday's at the World?

I don't mind paying extra for a cake. I know Chef Mickey's will make one, but I'm not sure if all the sit-down's will.

Re: Birthday's at the World?

Yes, I believe you can get a cake at any WDW restaurant. When I made our ADRs the CM asked me several times if I wanted a cake for my DS birthday. I felt like a bad mom for saying no but he won't eat cake so I'm not going to waste my money for a picture.

Quite understandable! Still a very fun way to celebrate a birthday!

I can't think of a better place to celebrate a birthday and a Disney cake would make it even more special. I wanted to order the cake and almost did but it would have been such a huge waste of money with only 3 people in our group and just two cake eaters. We were also on the dining plan and got a dessert with every meal.

Re: Birthday's at the World?

we are going in October, 2 weeks before one DD birthday, and 1 month before other DD birthday. This is part of their presents, to go to WDW. So, my question is...is it illegal, or tacky, to tell them we are celebrating their birthdays? I know we aren't there on the actual days, but that just wasn't possible in scheduling, and this was as close as we could get. What do you all think? Thanks!

I don't see anything wrong with celebrating birthday at WDW even though you aren't there on their actual birthday.

I agree! You are celebrating birthdays, even if it's not on that day. You should definatly pick a day (or days- maybe let them each have thier own special day?), and do Disney Birthday style.

One year we were at WDW at the middle/end of March. DD's B-Day is April 1st. When we renewed our AP's, they asked for her B-Day. Since it was close they gave her an IT's My Birthday Button. That was really nice! So I do not think it matters if you are there on the actual day or not! Have a great B-Day trip!

Re: Birthday's at the World?

We were at Disney for my son's 5th birthday last December, and he got cupcakes everywhere! We also ordered a cake at the Crystal Palace. The highlight of the trip was when Santa wished Cole a Happy Birthday from the parade!!! He still talks about it.

Wish I had that problem.

So, if I wanted to order a cake (dh will have his birthday), I just mention it when I make the ADR?

That's what we did, and then confirmed it at the podium.
