Annual Pass and Disney Dining Plan

I think I've read the answer here before, but can't find it now, so please help if you can. I am going to WDW for 10 days next week, staying at SoG. We are also planning a trip next year (August or October) and will stay at a WDW resort. We are debating getting a 10-day park hopper this trip and separate tickets for next year OR getting an Annual Pass this time to use for both. My question is, even though I may get a discount on the WDW room next year by having an AP, can I still get the dining plan with an AP? Thanks!

Re: Annual Pass and Disney Dining Plan

I cant say for sure, but If I remember from Erin's trip report, she had the dining plan and I know she is an AP holder. I hope someone can better answer this for you.

I am thinking of an AP this time also. According to the CM from Disney Dining, even though I am a DVC owner, and have an "AP" I would need to purchase a one day park ticket to be offered the DP. I am doing research on purchasing more park tickets this trip with no expiration to be used for the next trip. Then I was told we could purchase the DP Please offer solutions to us.

Re: Annual Pass and Disney Dining Plan

The only way to get the dining plan if you have an AP is one of the following:

1. Stay at a DVC resort using points
2. Purchase a package with park passes included. The park passes can be one day park passes.

My understanding is that if you stay at SOG, you cannot, under any circumstances, get the dining plan.

Kind of removes the incentive to get an AP.

Re: Annual Pass and Disney Dining Plan

I know---the dining plan is such a good deal, it really stinks you can't combine it with an AP.

Re: Annual Pass and Disney Dining Plan

When we had AP's and stayed at SOG, we couldn't get DDP

If you are a DVC owner (or renting points), you DO NOT have to purchase the one day park ticket in order to get the Dining Plan.

If you get the AP rate, you CANNOT get the Dining Plan. However, you can still get the plan AND use your Annual Pass to get into the parks. When you book your next vacation, you just need to buy a 1 Day MYW base ticket for everyone in your party by booking a MYW package. You can save those tickets for a later date, and use your APs. Just note, you cannot get your AP discount. You need to see if it's worth it in the end.

Re: Annual Pass and Disney Dining Plan

We have annual passes but purchased an MYW package for the free dining. Because we had a split stay, I had us at AKL for 3 days and Contemporary for 5. Each segment qualified for free dining and all we needed to do was buy 2 one day tickets for each segment. Before we left, I renewed our annual passes, as they only had a month left and we received an additional discount for early renewal. We were able to apply two tickets to each pass for credit of about $120 on each pass.

You are correct. What I omitted to state is that we are going back in February, there were no DVC's available (last minute trip) We are staying at POFQ and are ubnable to get the DP unless we purchase one day at the parks

Very good information Soundgod- I didn't realize that the passes could be used as credit towards your AP renewal! Thanks!
