What would you recommend?

I'm asking mickey too, but I wanted to hear what everyone else had to say.

I'm trying to plan a trip for my boyfriend, LostBoy#17 for when he's finally finished with Iraq. I can't give a great many details yet, as he's unsure if we'll be able to go (because I'll be in college), but I do know this much: It'll be just us two.

The rest is just a guess-timate.
Staying: 7 days/6 nights (maybe in March 2008? I don't know, that might conflict with my college courses. Thanks to Bush wanting to extend their stay over their, Lostboy won't be coming hom until February, most likely. And I'll have to wait until either my semester ends or Spring Break.)
Resort: Either Pop Century or one of the All Stars (except Sports), whichever's cheaper at the time.

I can't think of anything else. Right now I just need a quote to figure just about how much to save for the trip (I only have $300 right now. I might have to borrow some from my dad, if he'll loosen up and give it to me.) The only thing LostBoy's going to be allowed to buy is souveneirs.

Basicly, I just want to know what the average dollar-amount usually is, spent in these areas.

Resort (six nights):
Parks(seven days):
Dining:
Souveneirs:

Re: What would you recommend?

What a nice thing to do for Lost Boy
I think the Pop and All Stars have the rates.
Have you tried to put a trip together on the official Disney Website?
I play there quite a bit and mess around with different seasons and different resorts.

ehhh, $ 300.00 hmmmm, that dad of yours better loosen the purse strings, ask your grandma to make him

Re: What would you recommend?

I would suggest pop over the all stars. Definately contact mickey and have him help you along with this.

Re: What would you recommend?

I would stay at POP for adults only. Check out Disney.com to see rates.. I usually like to bring $100-$150 per day only if dining is already pd for. Its depends on what u like to buy.

Re: What would you recommend?

Dopey and Tinkerbelle24: When I tried the disney website, I was just sent around in circles. =/ It honestly didn't help, but maybe I should blame that on the bad internet connection. I'll try again.

Dana: I contacted mickey a few days ago, but he's been so swamped I haven't received a reply. I need to Pm him again anyway, because I gave him the wrong dates. (I can thank George W. Bush for that.)

that's a really great idea the Shades of Green. It's for service personal only.
They have really great rates. Let me find some info for you...

Re: What would you recommend?

Call Shades of Green. It is an exceptional resort (used to be Disney Institute a Delux resort) Military (and family) get price based on rank, they also have steep discount on park ticket prices.

Re: What would you recommend?

Shades of Green Fact Sheet

Here is an excerpt from this page: Shades of Green Reader Comments

Hunt Family - December 2005

Stayed at SoG over Christmas '05. Pleasantly surprised! The room was quite spacious - plenty of room for 5 adults. More space than the WDW resorts that can put 5 per room (Poly, POR, etc.). The breakfast buffet at the Garden Gallery is actually pretty good. The seafood dinner rocks! We took advantage of the R&R program for folks on-leave from OIF/OEF. Basically breakfast&dinner vouchers, but saved us almost $500! (gasp!) Very affordable, especially during the holiday season.

Re: What would you recommend?

lhraz: Okay, i'll check it out. Thanks!

Dopey: Thanks for scrounging up the info for me. ^_^

I tried the disney site again. A no-go of course.
I put in this info:

What are you shopping for today?
_Tickets Only _Room Only *Room and Ticket Packages
(Air and/or Ground Transportation Optional)

When will you be staying with us?
Check In: 3/10/2008 Check Out: 3/16/2008

How many people will be in your party?
Adults : 2 Children (0-17 years) : 0

And the reply it gave me?
Sorry, our packages must be booked at least 6 days from today. Please select a new arrival date.

Huh? I'm checking for dates well over the at-least-6-days-from-today limit. Why'd it give me that?

Re: What would you recommend?

The disney site is having technical issues....overloaded with people accessing their trip info..lol It took me four tries to access my reservation and make a payment on my trip...but I got another $400 knocked off...alomst paid in full again..

Shades of green is a wonderul idea...great thinking! Your rate there depends on your military pay grade if I am correct. Tell mickey to look into that for you as well as pop and compare the two prices. If you are doing the dining plan, you can easily survive on $100 a day or even $75 if you don't intend to buy a bunch of crap. Mickey is probally super overloaded with the free dining just breaking yesterday. Give him a few days to recover...he'll get back to you soon.

Why don't you try the "book a trip" link it's in the lower left third of the opening page. there it will give you the calendar and all the other questions. Maybe that will work for you. I am going there right now to try it out. I don't know what kind of a connection you're working, but that Disney site is slow on a phone line

Re: What would you recommend?

Mmm, well, I've figured a few things out on my own so far. I'll still need mickey's help when it comes to tickets, dining, etc., though... So I'll be waiting a few days on that. XD

Lostboy's a rank E5, I believe, so this is all calculated with that in mind. But, knowing him, he'll rank up before March. :) Good for him, since he's being paid more. Bad for me, because I'm stubborn and paying for it all myself, when the room rates go up $23 when he ranks E6. =/

Shades of Green:
Room: 80/night * 6 nights = $480 (What's the tax, though? or is that already included in the listed rates? Probably not...)
Parking: 5/day * 7 days = $35 (Is there tax on parking?)

Parks:
Tickets: ?
Dining: ?
Spending (souveniers): 50/day * 7 days = $350

total (so far): $865

I don't know what the tax is. But there should not be any on parking.
You are budgeting $100.00 for souvenirs, wow, I never buy any except for maybe on really smashing big thing for myself
