Would it be beneficial to bring my own umbrella stroller?

My husband and I are taking my 2 year old to WDW in Feb 08 (woo hoo) and i have heard that even though you can rent a stroller, it may save some dough to bring my own. Would it be worth it? or more of a hassle to pack it on a plane? We are using the the Disney Magical transport, where they will get the bags from the plane for us.

Re: Would it be beneficial to bring my own umbrella stroller?

Yes, bring it. My DD used her stroller right up to the plane's door. Then they held it for her and she got it again as she got off the plane. Just make sure you have all the "extras" like cupholders and stuff taken off if they are made to snap on and off. My DD almost lost her cupholder because it poppped off. It's great having it for the walk from the plane to the magical express(ME) . ME will take it and give it back after the bus ride. So again, it good for the walk to your room. At night, it will be great for the walk from the gates of the parks (you return a stroller, while still inside a park), to your bus or whatever. Then there is the waiting time in the morning to rent a stroller. Lastly, and this is a biggie for me, I believe the cost is about $10 a day. If you are going for a week or so, that means you could have bought a pretty nice one from home. Hope this helps.

Re: Would it be beneficial to bring my own umbrella stroller?

definitely bring it, it saves you big bucks on stroller rentals in the parks and is also great to have from park entrance to the bus or from the bus to your room. An asleep toddler is such dead weight to carry!

Re: Would it be beneficial to bring my own umbrella stroller?

I did bring mine with me 2 years ago. I bought a cheap one at walmart but when the trip was over I threw it away and left it there. It become bent on the bottom from all the quick open and closes to jump on the bus. When I went this year we used Disneys and almost spent $20 a day just for a double. I know it was high but something like $15-$20 and for one day at Disney you can get one at walmart and just leave it

Re: Would it be beneficial to bring my own umbrella stroller?

I rented a stroller when My Ds was 18 month old and its was very hard not having a stroller outside the parks. I have brought my own everytime since.

Re: Would it be beneficial to bring my own umbrella stroller?

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was still bringing my $20 umbrella stroller this year and my DD is 7!

It is so necessary to have while going from the buses to the park entrances and vice versa. EMH nights when we stayed til midnight, we would've had to carry a tired 7 year old!

I would absolutely bring it!

Yes. Gate check it at the plane and it will be waiting for you when you get off in MCO. It's a big place and a lot of walking or being carried even to get to the ME buses.

You will be much happier bringing it!!!! It is a long walk at some of those resorts and from the gates to the buses with a tired/sleeping child!!!!!

Re: Would it be beneficial to bring my own umbrella stroller?

We brought 2 of them, my kids are 2 and 3. By the end of the night my kids would be sleeping, I could not have imagined having to carry them from the entrance, wait for bus, on the bus, then the walk to the room!

Definately bring your own stroller! I did write our name on the back of the seat so it was easy for us to find, everyone had the same umbrella strollers, do something so you can find it easily, as the get moved around when you leave them.

Re: Would it be beneficial to bring my own umbrella stroller?

I agree with everyone else, definitely bring it. There is so much walking outside of the parks that you need it for, especially getting around your resort or back to your room after a long day of walking at the parks. I find that I can move faster with the child in the stroller, too. I also feel safer in crowds because the child is seated safely in the stroller right in front of me and not being dragged along by the crowd after a parade or at park closing.
