Re: August anyone?

We went in mid-august last year. It was crowded but not unmanageably so. Our only problem was that it rained alot and when it wasn't raining it was sweaty hot! On the plus side - the airfare was super cheap -$69 Southwest and we were able to get room discounts as well.

Re: August anyone?

We've been there the first week several times and it's hot and crowded but we always manage. Hit the parks early and take a break after lunch and go back in the evenings.

Re: August anyone?

We went in August once....way back in 2003 ( I think) when they had the deal of stay for four nights get three nights free. You had park tickets included also....it was a really good deal
Anyhow it was a good deal but it was HOT AND HUMID! The parks were crowded if you went later in the day. We got up early went to parks and took a break in the afternoon.
I not a fan of hot and humid weather so I do not know if I would go back again in August.
But I think Aug is better than July!

Re: August anyone?

We have gone in August the last few trips due to school holidays and yes it is hot and humid with pretty regular afternoon showers, but I agree it is better than July.

I've been in late August twice and it is very hot and humid but I also agree that it is better than July.

We've been twice in August, and, yes, it is hot and humid, and you do have to contend with some afternoon rain showers. We don't mind the heat and humidity too much, though. It's been a LOOONNNGGG time since I went in July, so I don't know how I would compare.

Re: August anyone?

I went the last two weeks of August last year, thinking it would be less crowded thinking that many places across the country have started school already by that time. Boy, was I WRONG!!!!! It was SUPER crowded!!!!!! I am sure FREE DINING had something to do with it...I think everyone from the Northeast was there with me! Oh, and it felt like 100 degrees every day.

That said, we had an AWESOME time!!!!!!!!!

Re: August anyone?

When I was there in August, it was very humid and wicked hot. It also rained every afternoon like clockwork, although the rain rarely lasted for more than an hour (and was usually less). The rain never seemed to help with the hot-and-sticky, though. Crowds can vary from year to year; I've seen a wide range of crowdedness during August.

If you can handle the heat, possibly with breaks during the day, and can take advantage of cooler temps in the evening, it could still be a very enjoyable trip.

Re: August anyone?

I have gone frequently in August and the heat/humidity can be brutal. It rains almost daily, but only a quick shower usually. My tips are to be out for early hours and do the parks until lunch. Sometimes we only made it until 11 because the heat really drains you. Then we would go back to the resort to swim, rest, and cool off and head back out to the parks around 4 or 5 pm. Drink lots of water, carry a mister fan, and alternate cooler inside attractions with those outdoors.

Re: August anyone?

August happens to be our favourite time to go, despite the heat and humidity. We're going for two weeks this August and can't wait! The pool at CSR is so enjoyable; water inviting, pleasant to dry off afterwards. We went at Christmas 2006 and it was terribly overcrowded (but still enjoyable, glad we did it at least once!). The August crowds are nothing in comparison to Christmas. Yes, it pours for an hour most afternoons but then it stops just as suddenly as it started and things dry up fast.

I have just spent the past two hours digging out from a massive snowstorm, so the heat and humidity don't seem too hard to bear

Re: August anyone?

I have done the second week of August before. It's not my cup of tea. It's hot and crowded. The last week of August is a bit better, but still hot. We are doing the last week of august again this year. It was certainly hot and a bit high on crowds last year, but not quite as bad as the first or second week of August. That being said, a WDW vetern like yourself can tour smartly and take advantage of the EMH and rope drops and be just fine. In all honesty, people like us can go any time of year and have a successful trip. My best advice and the advice I use myself for touring at peak times is be on hand for rope drops and use EMH.,..take a break and hit the resort when the crowd and heat peaks. Come back out before or for dinner and do shows and things that don't require lots of waiting around. It works out just perfect. We saw and did everything we wanted and then some last august.
