Park Hopper vs. Base + waterparks and more...

We have 8 tickets to purchase and we might park hope once or twice a trip. I am considering switching my 6 day park hopper to a 9 day base with the waterparks and more option.

I read on here a while back that if someone wanted to purchase extra base days instead of a PH, that they could just use one of the extra days to enter more than one park a day. I called 407wdisney and asked about this and they said that it's not possible. The CM said that you can only go to 1 park per day with a base.

What I need to know is, has anyone actually used extra days on a base ticket to enter several parks in one day. If so, when was this?

Thank you so much!

It won't allow you to. My boss bought me tickets one year and I thought she added the park hopper option but she didn't. When we went to hop to another park the cast member at the turnstile asked me had I been to another park. When I said yes she directed me to Guest Services they told me I did not have that option.

In order to hop to another park you would need a completely separate ticket.

I don't think you can do that . . . it's one park per day on a base . . . you can at anytime upgrade to a parkhopper, but you have to also upgrade the days used!

Like if at the end you didn't use all your days, you can then add the no expiration, but you'd have to pay $5 for each of the days on the ticket . . . so 8 days is $40 . . . but if you had two days left it would be worth the no expiration.

With the water park and more, you can do a park and a water park on the same day!

Re: Park Hopper vs. Base + waterparks and more...

Unfortunately, you can't use multiple base days in one day. Disney has done the math too, and they know it would be cheaper for some people to purchase longer-stay tickets without the park hopper option that it would be to add the park hopper option to their current tickets. That's why they don't allow it.

Unless you are absolutely convinced you want to stay in one park every day, I would upgrade to a park hopper ticket that fits the length of your stay. It's always wonderful to have that option in case the park you first choose is really crowded or you just need a change of pace. I think having the park hopper is always worth the extra money!

Thanks!!! With 4 children under 4 in tow we stick to a pretty tight gameplan. I was curious because we wanted to go to MK on one of the EMH nights, but I'll just change the plans up a bit. Thanks again!

The park hopping option is worth it...I like the freedom to come and go as I please. What if you go to MK and it's really crowded and you want try a different park....what if it's raining in the morning while you are at MK and you end up stuck at the resort all day and want to go to EPcot for evening EMH? Who wants to be limited? When you spend all this money on a WDW vacation, it pays to spend the little extra and have the hopper and come and go as you please. I can't even imagine not having the ability to hop even if I don't always hop.

Re: Park Hopper vs. Base + waterparks and more...

Last summer we got the base tickets with waterpark. We didn't park hop and felt that we had plenty to do. We originally had 7 day tickets but added 3 more days when we decided to fly instead of drive. It only cost our family of five an extra $25 or so for the extra days. Between the waterparks and disneyquest we had more than enough to do and never felt the need to park hop. We also spent the extra time at the parks when we arrived and on our last day before the flight. We went to the parks that we wanted to spend more time at.

That's what I booked. It just doesn't make sense to me to get the ph when I know without a doubt that I'm not going to hop. It's such a pain to get on and off of busses with strollers and bags. I like to do that as little as possible.

If you know for a fact that you are not going to hop (and with multiple stroller-age children, I can understand! ) then you are definitely right about the park hopper option not being worth it for you.

DH and I like the option because it gives us freedom to come and go all we want, but I imagine as our family grows we may start to feel differently.

When it was just DH, myself, and our daughter we would hop all over the place. We wore her in either a sling or a back pack most of the time. She was really tiny (18 lbs at 2 years old), so carrying her wasn't a problem. Well then DS came along. He's a 40 lb 37 inch 22 month old. That beast of a child needs wheels to get around!

Oy! Yeah, I wouldn't want to go far with DS if I were you! One park per day sounds perfect!
