Re: Using a Travel Agent?

Another question, do Disney travel agents often offer to make your dinner reservations?

They all make them for you, but only one of the agents I have used in the past has actually come out and offered it.

Re: Using a Travel Agent?

I book thru my AAA Travel Agency because they are CHEAPER than with booking directly thru Disney themselves and they give me extra perks that I wouldnt get anywhere else with another company!!!

And if DIsney comes out with any cheaper discounts, they re-book me for the discount, no problem!!!
I love them!

No, I was told to call the number, and I actually prefer it this way now, making my own.
I would worry whether or not if they made a mistake or something.... OCD!!!! Plus I have fun calling and listening to the music!

I have a co-worker though, who says her travel agent always books her ADR's, she likes it that way! To each their own!!!

Re: Using a Travel Agent?

We used Mousketrips our last trip and it was great. Everything was done for us and was sent to us in plenty of time and they were there for any question I had. We have booked everyother trip ourself and would have no problem doing it either way. For us I think it comes down to how much time we have to spend on the looking and scheduling

I would prefer to make my own because many time you have to adjust your time or day. This way, you know what will work best for your schedule.

Re: Using a Travel Agent?

I also prefer to make my own, so that I can " update" things very easily. If the exact time that I wanted was not available for a certain restaurant, then other restaurants are sometimes affected since I may more ADR's around to still get all of the places booked that I want.

Re: Using a Travel Agent?

I've done it both ways. I think you save a little bit if you do it yourself & hunt for deals. I like the idea of a travel agent because your dealing with an actual person that can help you if something goes wrong. This time, I researched the deals, printed them out & brought them to my travel agent. I asked her to match or beat the prices; and she did! After that, I noticed a discount deal for Oct-Dec. I called her with the codes & she happily refunded me $480.00. She is still watching for additional codes as well as I. To me, I prefer a travel agent. Especially since this trip I wanted to make monthly payments vs touching my savings. I don't feel comfortable in making payments online for such a large amount, but that's just me. I am a AAA member but their discount was still the same as my travel agency offered.

Re: Using a Travel Agent?

When we started going in 1999 we used a travel agent, i was opposed to it because i didn't want to pay someone to book our trip, I could do it on my own and save the money, I finally convinced my parents by showing them online how much we saved.

Now if I am going somewhere that I don't know, say England, etc I would use a travel agent.

Re: Using a Travel Agent?

I think next time I'll book my own. Since my last post I've had to call her 3 times with better discount codes. Although it's her job, I still feel like a pain in the butt. Now, since we couldn't get the latest discount offered at the Poly (well she's still working on it but looks doubtful); it's actually cheaper to stay at the Grand Floridian by $220. But since She already did my voucher for the Poly & I picked it up, to change resorts at 13 days away from my dept date & have her print out new vouchers is very stressful. For only $220. I'll just leave it as is. BUT MY POINT IS, if I booked it all myself then making all the changes would be easier than bugging someone else over & over again.I did do all my ADR. It's pretty easy and fun.

Booking through a travel agent doesn't cost extra. They work on commissions.
Booking air that costs about $ 30. per ticket

That's because you found Mousebuzz . Most would be Disney vacationers would not know about discounts and all that jazz. It is painful when a travel agent can't keep up with their clients. And for a seasoned Mousebuzzer, it is easier to do it by themselves, for sure

Re: Using a Travel Agent?

I've been wondering about the fate of travel agents since booking online is so easy and convenient. It sounds like a cool job with great perks but I thought that by now there would not be many job opportunities - unless it is for more complicated (expensive) travel.

Re: Using a Travel Agent?

Believe it or not, I know so many people that are scared to do anything online. That includes shopping, booking vacations and even paying bills online. My godmother drove around for hours the other day paying bills in person because they were close to 5 days due. She'd rather waste all that time & gas than trust online bill paying.

OMG, my life would be in total chaos if it weren't for online everything.
And Shopping- oh shopping, I could not get anything if I didn't have online shopping.
I use a different virtual account number for every purchase I make and therefore it can't be hijacked
