That's what I'd like to know. On disboards there is a thread where people post how often (or not) they have gotten PINs. It's amazing, some people get 3 and 4 a year. My DD (who's last trip was 12/07) got one in early spring and one about a week ago.

this is the first one I got in awhile last one we were going anyway so i didnt use it.. this one im probably not going to use we are already booked for October 3 for five nights. we are going down to see dd in tampa for two nights after we go to wdw.

I just keep hoping for a pin I can use for the last week of Oct. for free dining...that will be the only way we are going to be able to swing a fall trip it looks like now...man this bad economy...and property taxes....

I don't know if this was posted earlier this year but sorry to repeat if it has. I've read on a few sites, including Disney that on the military promo being offered on the tics they also include 40% off on select Moderate hotels till Dec. 23. I booked a room at the Poly last week for the same discount. A CM told me it was 40% off ANY hotel in Disney. Also the DDP was honored without having to purchase park tics since military are getting 1 free+5 for $99 already. Only hotel & DDP had to be purchased. (However a reservation at SOG is still full price and DDP purchase is not honored there) And, those tics could be upgraded to an AP although I don't really know if that's a deal or not since you'd already be half way there if paying the regular price.
