Disney VISA Snag

Just an FYI for anyone trying to use their Disney VISA in order to take advantage of the zero payments for 6 months on a 4 night minimum package (like the Fairytale ones): Beware!:(

I'll try and make the story brief but this may be important to some of you so bear with me. My package balance ($1500) just got billed to my Disney Visa (DV) along with the $73 balance I owe for the extra two nights that we booked under a room only code. My bill looked like I would start accumulating interest immediately so I called Bank One (Bank Zero, if you ask me). I assumed that I would pay the $73 and the other package balance would be 6 months interest free.:hmmm Made sense to me. However, I was told that if I submit a partial payment, it would be placed against the lowest APR (the 0% part). The rep. was very nice and explained to me that this has been an issue with many people. A supervisor is suppose to call me by Tuesday. I do not know how this will work out.:dazed

So as a warning, it you plan to use the card for this 0% / 6 month deal, do not use it for anything else. Isn't that the idea of having the card, to use it?:laugh Who thinks up this crud??:laugh

Are they saying that you have to pay for the whole package up front to get the 0 percent APR for the whole package?

It sounds like they can't break out a partial balance, or that the offer for 0% financing had a catch in the fine print. :(

Actually it looks like their system credits the lowest APR first (in this case the 0%) then the next highest and then the next, etc. So if I simply followed the rules I would only have two options:

Pay off everything now (where is the 0% in that) or pay the minimum but I will rack up interest on all my other purchases for 6 months.

I am waiting for a Supervisor to call me and explain if this can be fixed. I'll let you know when they call.

I just called Disney Visa because I was concerned about our trip to DL in Feb. The account rep I spoke with said that no matter how you pay it (ie: 200.00 deposit and then the rest down the road) you still get the 0 percent APR as long as your package meets the requirements for the 0 percent (Number of days at Disney Resort and park passes) So according to what she said if I pay 200.00 today on my Disney Visa I will get the 0 percent on that and then if I pay the rest in say two months I will also get 0 percent on that portion. I asked specifically about making a deposit and then making a second payment. She said that as long as you pay for the whole thing, in installments or all at once on the Disney Visa you still get the 0 percent.

Did that make sense?!?!?

Mattomouseman, for normal folk like you and I this makes sense. However it is not what I was told by the customer service rep. as we reviewed my account. I have no doubt that I would be charged interest if I did not ask for intervention. The rep. even knew of the issue because it has been a problem and of course, to MickeyMac's point, I was told that this is explained in the tiny print card agreement document.

I will let you know what the Supervisor says when they call me.

I, too, will not go into the complicated details RE: my Disney Card troubles (Although, prior to my using this card, I had a top notch credit rating), but I agree that Bank One seems to have their own way of doing regular business. And, just a warning, the customer service reps. do not necessarily give you the absolutely correct information. If you have a concern that you address with a CSR, make sure that you note all the pertinent details (time of conversation, csr's name, etc.)

Hi Mattomouseman,

I haven't forgotten about you. Banc One did not call by last night as promised. I called them early today and spoke to another rep (they say they can't transfer calls between reps - we can send a man to the moon but they can't transfer a call!).

She reconfirmed that this has been a big problem. She is suppose to call me today between 1:30 and 2:00 hopefully with resolution.

I'll let you know.

OK, I have the scoop.

In order to make this work, I have to pay off the smaller amount ($73) on my card this payment period (Thankfully I didn't charge anything else with this card). The Manager will then reset my account so that I can take advantage of the 6 months interest free.

Also, I cannot use my card for the next 6 months or I will be back in the same boat.

Apparently there is no systematic way to address this issue.

Bottom line - if you go this route, be prepared to be very involved in the resolution.

Everyone at Banc One was very pleasant but IMO this is a mess.:dazed

That is not a good solution in my opinion. Bank One did not think this through, now you can't charge on your card and earn points toward your next Disney trip. I have a card that has two different intrest rates on it; one for special promos and one for purchases. I wouldn't be very happy with Bank One if this happened to me because I am running all I can through our Disney Visa to earn point/dollars for my next trip and to have to put it up for 6 months (through Christams) wouldn't be good.

OK I'm way confused now. Why can't you use your card? Are they saying that if you use the card you pay interest on purchases other then the Disney trip? Or are they saying that if you use the card you pay interest on everything on the card including the trip?

How confusing. I have applied for a Disney Visa but may cut it up when it comes now. Tell me, is there another bank besides Bank One that offers the Disney Visa?
