How much spending money?
Hey all,
I have a quick question. How much spending money do I need for my August trip in Disney. I will be staying at the Pop Century for 10 days. My plan is to eat in the food court for breakfast and lunch and have dinner at a sit-down restaurant. It will be me, my wife and daughter. I figure I will need $60 per person for food and $15 per person for miscellaneous. My plan includes unlimited access to the parks. Does that sound about right or will I need more. Thanks in advance. |

Sounds perfect to me. When we went this Nov I budgeted (for DH and 3 DS's) 250 dollars a day for food (we stayed in concierge so breakfast and late night snacks were covered) and another 50 dollars for snacks and miss. We did the same as your planning sit down lunch and dinner. We enjoyed dinners at ESPN Club, Cape May Cafe twice, Yachtsman Steakhoues, Mama Melrose, Beaches and Cream, Wispering Canyon and Liberty Tree Tavern. I tried something new this time as my sons are older (9, 13, 15) I gave them each 50 dollars to spend on things in the parks sonvenirs, pins, parade items. This worked out very well as I wasn't reaching for money constantly.
We actually ended up spending less than we budgeted and so it went back into the kitty for the next trip.

Breakfast we had snacks like dounuts in the room, etc. In the park and after walking around really did not feel like a large lunch and we found that most meals you could easily split between two people. If you order the double hamburger meal for around $6 you can ask for a second bun (80 cents more) and have two hamburger meals. Always suggest having some type of water bottle with you to refil as needed. Dinner was our biggest meal of the day where we enjoyed sitting down to some entertainment and good food. For the two of us most of the time we only spent $50-$60 a day on food, and that's with a meal at O'Hana's or something at night. We do get carried away shopping though.

When we stayed at All Star Sports we would eat breakfast in the food court, about $6, we had our refill mugs so drinks were free. Then for lunch we ate in a park, about $10 including drinks. For dinner we would eat at the food court or out in a park at a sit down restaurant. So we spent about $40/day. This past Nov we stayed at Olde Key West as we are now DVC members, we did not have a car so we bought some small groceries in the store and would eat breakfast in the room and we had snacks, lunch meat too. We did eat in the parks during the day and went out sometimes at night. It sounds like your target is about right.
