FL Resident Seasonal Pass Renewal. Yes or No?

Last year we decided to get the Florida Resident Seasonal Passes so that we could go to WDW as often as possible. The one downside is that there are Blackout dates but they are at times that we do not usually go anyway. This year they are:

April 3 - April 15 (SPRING BREAK)
June 12 - August 19 (SUMMER. HOT & Crowded)
December 18 - January 1 (BUSIEST TIME AT WDW)

I am trying to figure if we should renew or take a year off.

If we renew, the rates are:
$174.66 (10 and Over)
$148.04 (3 to 9)

If we wait and decide to purchase at a later date, the rates are:
$201.29 (10 and over)
$171.47 (3 to 9)

The renewal rate is about the price of 3 day tickets for a whole year of magic.

But there are 5 of us, (really 6 but kids under 3 are free) and the one time hit is a little large right now.

On one hand it is a no-brainer, but our debt is a little large right now and the hit will be a little tough.

What to do????????

If you don't estimate that your debt will get any better, then I would say don't renew, because if it is only 30 dollars more to buy later, then when you have more money,it won't seem like such a difference.

Actually the difference is $123.55 if we buy later.

Things are looking a little better so we are leaning towards renewing.

What is the time frame between your renewal date and your next trip?

Actually we are finalizing plans to make another 3 day trip most likely from 1/24/04 thu 1/26/04. My passes expire on 2/2/04. The next trip might not be until the end of April or early May.

I just called 407-WDISNEY to confirm and they told me that if I renew my passes with the discount, the start date will be 2/2/04. I have a 30 grace period to get the renewal rate but the pass stats on 2/2/04.
One the one hand I get a better rate but if I am not going to go until April I loose 2 months off the pass. :madmad
Unless we make a day Trip earlier.

Decisions? Decisions?

Losing 2 months would be a big deal to me. I always sent in my renewal on time to get that discount, but then I realized I was losing time so now I let the passes expire if the time difference is more than a couple months.
Ask yourself a couple questions
Can you save $125. for the extra fee in those 2 months?
Are you willing to lose 2 months to save $125?

If it was me I would start tucking away a couple bucks a week and go for the extra 2 months and renew in April/May.

I'm bumping this to get some more advice.

The 30 day grace period is almost up. I am trying to convince DW that we need to renew. But I am also thinking about what sandanv1 thinks about the lost time since my renewal date is still 2/2/04. Although if we renew we might be go in March. I don't know.

Still

Polyman, you must show proof of FL residency in order to get a FL resident price on your tickets. Proof of FL residency:

VALID Florida Drivers License

VALID Florida State issued ID card (MUST have Florida address)

Utility statement with the guest name and address along with a corresponding picture ID

VALID Voters Registration Card with corresponding picture ID

VALID Florida Based Military ID - Florida Military Bases

VALID College ID (MUST be a Florida college)

Florida Resident tickets are only available to actual Florida Residents and can not be purchased for out of state family or friends.
