Buy Disney Dollars-yes or no?

Hi, I'm new to this site- found it while googling for meal vouchers.
My question is, since I've read so many pros and cons about meal vouchers being worth the money (and I hesitate to subscribe to Connections after reading the horrors others have gone through in cancelling their account), would it be a good idea to just start buying Disney Dollars at the Disney Store and stockpiling them to use for our trip?:hmmm

I can't answer anything about the Connections vouchers since I have never used them. There are several people here who are very happy with Connections.

We love to buy Disney Dollars before our trip as a way of saving money before we leave. We started a year before our last trip giving our DS Disney Dollars for little things he did, he ended up with about $200 spending money. That is money we didn't have to come up with during the trip.

Disney dollars

Disney dollars worked out great for our trip. They are accepted almost everywhere (I did not find anyplace that did not accept them). We stock piled up for a year prior to our trip. The Kids knew exactly how much money they had and it was an excellent learning experience for them as well. They should also work as well as vouchers when paying for meals.

Just another Yay for disney dollars. Each time I go to the mall, I pick up a few, depending on how much extra cash I have. I'm also real good at "hiding" money, so by the time each trip comes, (we start planning almost as soon as we get home) everything is paid for, and we have pleny of spending $.

Oh, and by the way, Welcome to DC!! We're glad to have you here!

:heart Lauren:)

Welcome to DC!!! I would also say yes to disney dollars. I would start off with a fairly small amount though. If ya need more u can get them at WDW. It is a good way to limit the spending on your trip. The only reason I said to start with a small amount is because im not sure of the policy of changing them back into US dollars. Someone im sure knows.

A quote from the handy-dandy notebook-oops wrong show:laugh . From the handy Birnbaums 2004 edition

"Disney Dollars are available at City Hall (as well as all Disney Stores) in $1, $5, &$10 denominations. They are accepted for dining and merchandise throughout Walt Disney World and can be exchanged at any time for U.S. currency."

Disney dollars are GREAT! My Mom buys them for me for all holidays the year before we go. I also purchased them for DD for her birthday, valentine's day, easter, etc.

I love them!:heart :)

i use the same saving technique and it works out great for me. I just get a little here and there and it adds up fast. :)

1st welcome to the DC
2nd: Yes I have to agree with everyone else Disney dollars are worth it. I do what Lauren does also. If I have some x-tra dollars I go to the disneystore and pick some up. You would be surprised how fast that they add up.
I like doing it that way cause then I wind up with more spending money for my trip. Before I started doing that I would always wind up spending some of the cash that I was going to bring down with us before we leave and got mad at myslef once I got down there.
Then I started buying the Disneydollars so that I couldnt spend the money at home and use it all for DISNEY.
