How should I make reservations???

Hello all.

I am new to this board. I have planned and reserved a trip for October 2004. I already placed a downpayment on the reservation I made through the www.disneyworld.com website. The trip for 2 adults and 1 child roundtrip for 6 days is $1700.00 (Caribbean Resort). I keep hearing that people recommend making travel arrangements through a travel person is cheaper. Can anyone with experience confirm this?

Thank you for all your help.

Firstly, welcome to the boards. Glad you found us.

Well, since a travel agent doesn't cost you anything and they have the ability to get you the best deals when they are available it goes without saying that they save you money.

I use to be skeptical of travel agents too. Now I do it no other way. the trick is to get a Disney Exclusive or specializing travel agent to get maximum benefit. You can often get extra little bonuses going through an agent as well.

Have a great trip. We plan to go in October too, but haven't decided where to stay. Waiting on the inlaws decision to go or not mainly.

I personally perfer DC's very own Mouseketrips.. I use to do all my own booking ..but what is great about booking through Mouseketrips is that if something comes up where there is a code for saving on a room .. it can be done so easy and because Mickey keeps up with all the codes and best deals .. he knows how to take care of the changes so that its nothing for me to worry about. I would recommend a travel agent (specially Mouseketrips) really stongly if your booking a trip as far off Oct of 2004. there can be all kinds of special rates and packages that come up between now and then that you could take avantage of.

oh and welcome to DC!!

Welcome, You'll love it here.

I also used to make all of my plans myself. I figured nobody would take as much care on my behalf as I would.

Mouseketrips changed my opinion completely. I strongly suggest you try because it costs nothing (:D ) and I can absolutely vouch for the service.:)

If we had not joined the DVC, which Mickey helped guide us along on also, we would still be using Mouseketrips year after year!!

Welcome to DC! I too must say you need to go with a DISNEY ONLY travel agent. Last year (before finding this site) we booked with a regular travel agent who was SUPPOSED to be a Disney specialist. Well, he didn't get us ANY of the discounts and at the time there were some great ones out. So this year I'm using Mousketrips and they are AWESOME! It has been so much easier and I'm not worried about it. We booked early too, and when the codes came out for our time period Mickey changed everything and I didn't even have fool with any of it!!!! It has been a pleasure working with them and I HIGHLY recommend them!

Who are Mousketrips? And how do I get in touch with them? Thanks. I am looking at October of 2004 for our trip but after this year will definately stay away from the holiday weekend. Very busy.

Rich1967-

There is a link on the front page of DC with the Mousketrips link.

It is run by our own "Mickey" the administrator for this site!!!

Good Luck with your trip

I don't know about the rest of you, one of my favorite parts of my WDW trip is planning it myself. I think that www.mousesavers.com is great!!!

Disneyluva, I could not agree more. I still the obnoxious planner with a color-coded daily schedule completed by the time we make for WDW. However, using a Disney only travel agent like Mouseketrips has many advantages. There is no way that I could have the up to the minute information and historical knowledge that Mickey at Mouseketrips provides.

Believe me, I had a hard time letting go... In the end, I was glad that I did.:D
