Need advice

Ok...Just found out that were going to goto florida next year in July (2005)
I so badly want to goto Walt Disney world but don't know if we will be able to afford it.....I want to do it for 2 reasons....it might be the only chance we ever get and my dad who I take care of has never been there so I'm hoping if I start planning now (as if I even had a clue what I'm doing) that I can rig this somehow...

We would like to stay at the disney location if at all possible...I'll be towing 5 children ...1 at age 9 and the rest are 11,12, 14, 16 (age at travel time)
and My hubby ....and my dad who is disabled with M.S and me of course lol

anyone have a clue what it would cost from anywhere from 2 days to 4 days there? including tickets? we'll do bag lunches or something to that effect and we'll be driving down .

any and all help would be appreciated and I realize this is probally to early to be planning but would like to have a idea how much money i'll have to dig out of the sofas to get there lol

were so excited at even the thought of a chance at this we can hardly contain ourselves :laugh

First off, WElcome to DC. You have picked the perfect site to plan your dream WDW trip. We all know how to save a buck here and there and will be able to help you. If you start putting a little money here and there aside now, you will be able to save a ton of money for your trip. Get the kids involved by making them do chores for Diosney Dollars to let them have their own spending money. In July, which is regualr season, a WDW value resort will run you about $109 per night per room. You will need 2 of them with your gang. I highly suggest renting a cabin or camping at Fort Wilderness in WDW. It will be more cost efficient for you. The cabins are about the cost of two rooms at the All Stars per night, but they are fully equipped with stove, fridge etc and you will be able to bring groceries and have meals there and save some money on park food. I can't think of another place otehr than a villa that would not force you to have to get two rooms. Next, contact Mousketrips. They are a WDW only travel agency ran by the people who run this site. They will find you the most cost efficient way to have your dream vacation not matter what your budget. They will rebook your rooms at surrent discount codes over and over until they get the best one. They are excellent and are NO EXTRA cost to you.

If this is your first time there, I suggest also to go out and get yourself the Passporter Guide book and the Unofficial Guide book to WDW. They will get you familiar with the parks and the layouts and give you great money saving tips. Please do not hesitate to ask any question you can think of. We live to help on here. Happy planning.

I personally feel the trick is a Triple AAA card. Off season helps with the cost also. Any chance you could go in the fall? IF you can't get the wilderness Villas try making your RS at Pop Century with the AAA card. Don't buy the card till you know your going to use it. I've never had Disney ask me for the card, you to need it when you check in. The beauty of making your RS thru disney is if you cancel your RS your not charged, You must cancel within six days befor arriving to be safe. The point is Disney is always offering discounts , call and cancel then make a new one. I had RS in Nov at Pop Century at $69 a night, of course your going to need two rooms. Tickets can also be bought at AAA.

Dana has given you some very sound advice. - oh, welcome!:) I agree with everything she says. Don't know if you're campers, but if you are, camping at Fort Wilderness is probably the most inexpensive way to stay on-site. (Any chance of borrowing or renting a camper?) If there is any possible way you can change your visit dates to the value season, you will not only save money, but have the added advantage of the less crowded season. July is just about the busiest time at WDW and it is HOT. Crowds thin out and the rates change in mid-August, if this might be an alternative. You have lots of time to plan and ask questions. You've come to the right place. You'll get all your answers here! Nothing we like better than to help someone plan their first trip to WDW :)

Here is a link to Mousesavers. It shows what seasons are value, peak, etc at each of the resorts. http://www.mousesavers.com/seasondates2004.html

AAA is the autoclub you can join. Then when you have a flat tire or something they can come and help you. Triple A. They offer discounts but you can get just as good discounts thru disney sometimes. Mouseketrips is a good idea since they will keep their eyes open if any discounts become available. Don't think you are asking stupid questions. As I always say, it's only stupid if you don't ask something you want to know! :)
Happy Planning!

Fort Wildreness is not expensive and it is very nice. The buses run through there and the kids have swimming and movies by the campfire. You can also watch the fireworks from the beach without fighting the crowds. We camp there alot. Plus, you can ride the boat over to the comtempory and take the monrail were ever you want to go.:)

Tinksfriend, welcome to DisneyCentral. Just to give you an idea, it really is going to be the park passes that are going to be the major expense. For a 4 day hopper, you are looking at about $1,600 just of the park passes. Your room is only going to be about $150 per night, and that is really the only place you can save some money. That would be for 2 connecting rooms at a value resort. Total, you are looking at a minimum of about $2,200 for 4 nights.

You might be able save $50 per night on your room with some future discounts, but park passes are hard to get a discount on. I would watch for 3 day hopper passes, they show up every once and a while, and that would help you a great deal, probably save you $400.
